FEAR GOD AND LOVE GOD’S ANOINTED

KEY SCRIPTURE: 1 Samuel 24:5. “And it came to pass afterwards, that David’s heart smote him, because he had cut off Saul’s skirt”.

In 1st Samuel 24:2, Saul’s kept pursuing David. This time, he chose three thousand men out of all Israel and went to look for David. He followed him to a cave where David was supposed to be hiding. Saul slept out of exhaustion, and David found him sleeping. David’s men asked him to kill him because God had delivered him into his hand. David refused but cut off a piece of Saul’s cloth. David did not do anything to harm him, yet his heart smote him because he had cut Saul’s garment.

David was a man who had great respect for God and the people God had anointed to lead. His heart smote him not because he had hurt Saul but because he had cut a piece of his garment. How many of us blatantly attack men of God? Saul was not right in any of his actions, yet it was not David’s duty to judge, attack, or condemn him. Romans 14:4 “Who art thou that judges another man’s servant? To his master he stands or falls. Yeah, he shall be holden up; for God is able to make him stand”.

Please consider the above scripture. Who are you to judge another man’s servant? That man of God you are attacking is God’s servant, and you don’t have the right to attack and judge him or her. One may ask, what about a man whose actions and teachings are simply problematic? Do not accept any wrong teaching, neither do you have to follow any wrong teachings. What you must not do is don’t attack the man. Some of us insult such men and judge them. Do not do such things. Leave them to God and the Holy Ghost. At best, pray and intercede for them. Once again, you have every right to talk about their teaching that is not biblical, instructing others to stay away from such teachings, but please don’t get personal.

In the story, David left where Saul was sleeping to a far point and called on him. He never showed any rudeness in his language to Saul. Please never be rude to your pastor, your father, your mother, your elder, and the nation’s leaders. Please respect authority. To live long in the land, give great regard to every authority above you.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, you have set in place various authorities above us. Help us to regard them highly. in their mistakes help us not to attack them but to stand in and make intercessions for them.
