KEY SCRIPTURE: 2 Sam 5:4 KJV “David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years”.
The above scripture gave some figures which may appear insignificant, yet they mean a lot. I will not go into full numerology, that is the study of numbers and their significance, for now. This would be for another time. David became king at the age of thirty. In Israel, thirty is the full age at which any son is considered to reach full adulthood. This is the age when he is adopted as a son or the word son placing. Gal 4:1 KJV” Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all; But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father.” From these verses, a son has a period set by the Father where he is no longer a child but becomes a son. At this age, he has the right to his father’s estate. The term used is adoption, which is ‘ uihothesia’ in Greek and is explained as son placing. This is the age of thirty years. In the scriptures, some individuals who functioned in God’s perfect will began their life careers at age thirty. Examples are Joseph and our Lord Jesus.
The Bible also said, he reigned for forty years in all. Forty is normally God’s longsuffering as well as his normal full term for his children to play their roles. In light of this, we saw the Israelites going through the wilderness for forty years; most of the men who fasted to God’s full term did so for forty days. It rained for forty days and forty nights. The Lord revealed himself alive to his disciples for forty days, and the children of Israel ate manna for 40 years. Forty was God’s perfect timing for him to reign.
David decided to please the Lord throughout his lifetime. Although he fell into adultery and murder, he quickly repented and never went into any such act again.
He walked upright before the Lord. David never lost a battle. David was the only king who crowned his successor king. He died a very natural death with no sickness in his body. God has stated that if a man will live upright, he shall be filled with many days and a very fruitful life. The Lord gave the following promise to Joshua, and it also happened for David. Jos 1:5 KJV” There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.” Dear brother, the Lord Jesus said, What I say to one I say to all. This promise is for you today. Decide to live daily upright before Him, and your life will have only perfect endings.
CONFESSION
