KEY SCRIPTURE: 2 Sam 5:17 KJV” But when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines came up to seek David; and David heard of it, and went down to the hold.”

After David had been crowned king over the whole of Israel, he had barely organised himself to set up an administrative structure when the Philistines set themselves up in battle array to attack him. This time, too, David was the reason for their attack. Satan’s agenda is to make him feel desperate and to give up on what God has ⁹asked him to do. Remember, he’s been anointed for over a decade. Dear one, are you caught up in repeated battles upon battles? This is the time to praise the Lord.

Every challenge offers you the opportunity to become a champion.

At this point in David’s life, he never said I have experienced these things over and over, so I know what to do. He went to the Lord for guidance 2 Sam 5:19 KJV “And David enquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up to the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the LORD said unto David, Go up: for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into thine hand.” David was very specific about what he wanted from the Lord.

He asked two main questions. Shall I go up against the Philistines?

 Would you deliver them into my hands? David knew his God was the judge and controller of everything. He was never worried or afraid. Dear child of God, do not panic at any problem you face. The solution and final results lie in your heavenly father’s hands. Trust Him and follow what His word says. David was assured of victory, so he went and conquered.

These Philistines came back again after this defeat to fight David again. Once again, stop thinking of yourself as the one being attacked. The attacks are coming because of the word of God over your life. It is an attempt by the devil to stop what God has planned concerning you. All you need is to KEEP COOPERATING WITH THE LORD. This time round, the Lord asked David to use another approach to fight and defeat the enemy. 2Sam 5:23 KJV “And when David enquired of the LORD, he said, Thou shalt not go up; but fetch a compass behind them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees.” Dear one, once again, God, our Father, does not use one way to do everything. Each time and how, He would instruct His children to go about doing what He may want them to do.

In all these attacks of the enemy, please understand that they have not arisen to destroy you. God has allowed them to bring glory to His name, but a blessing to you.
