DIVINE COUNSEL IS ALWAYS SUPERIOR TO HUMAN COUNSEL 2

KEY SCRIPTURE: Acts 27:21. ” But after long abstinence Paul stood forth in the midst of them, and said, Sirs, ye should have hearkened unto me, and not have loosed from Crete, and to have gained this harm and loss“

When the ship carrying Paul got to Crete, Paul told the centurion who was taking charge of them that the voyage or journey would be dangerous, and so they must not set off. Acts 27:10

“And said unto them, Sirs, I perceive that this voyage will be with hurt and much damage, not only of the lading and ship, but also of our lives”. The captain of the ship convinced the centurion not to consider what Paul said.

The following are some of the challenges that the crew on the ship went through. Acts 27:17 &18

“Which, when they had taken up, they used helps, undergirding the ship; and, fearing lest they should fall into the quicksand, strake sail, and so were driven. And we being exceedingly tossed with a tempest, the next day they lightened the ship” These people went through hell because of the simple instruction they failed to heed. Dear child of God, the scriptures are given for our admonition unto a life of peace.

The Psalmist said, “He makes me lie down in green pastures and leads me beside the still waters.” Our souls are restored. Psalm 23: God’s word is a divine law, and those who disobey shall have no peace. Romans 2:9 ‘Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile’; What is an evil act? Evil actions are simply not doing what the Lord asks you to do. The scripture says tribulation and anguish to every soul that does evil.

There are some Christians who are going through ‘hell’ and nothing seems to work out well for them. These brethren are simply being adamant about what the Spirit of God tells them to do. To some, it is to break away from a relationship. For others, it may be forgiving one who has hurt them or confessing a wrong done. It may be a habit that the Holy Spirit tells you to stop. Until the prodigal son decided to turn away from His rebellious life, there was no peace and no satisfaction for him. (Luke 15:11—32)

Paul and all who were on the ship struggled for survival to the point that they had to empty the ship of so much that was on it. All these would not have happened if they had listened to Paul. What is that one thing God is asking you to stop?

PRAYER

O Father, I pray that my spiritual senses would be sharpened to easily know or hear what you are saying to me at any moment. I also receive the ability to do what you may be saying promptly.
