Praising God in the midst of trouble

KEY SCRIPTURE:2Ch 20:21 KJV “And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the LORD, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the LORD; for his mercy endureth for ever.”

Please read 2 Chronicles 20:1-25

The kings of Ammon and Moab came with a very great host of men to attack King Jehoshaphat and Judah. The Jews were exceedingly afraid and so called a national fast. At their gathering, the king prayed unto God. A Levite was inspired to prophesy that they would not lift a hand, but the Lord would fight for them. King Jehoshaphat appointed singers to lead the people. The Lord fought for them, and they only watched what He did. Praising God in the midst of trouble is a great expression of one’s faith in God. It is saying that God is mighty over whatever difficulty or challenge may be. It also declares that the victory has already been won. God would always act when His children act in absolute faith in Him.

The Lord instructs us to sing joyfully unto His name. Joy is an expression of liberty from the desire of the enemy who seeks to excite sorrow, misery and gloominess in the hearts of men. Joyful singing is an expression of the Holy Spirit’s control and filling of that individual, which gives no place to Satan or his demons to function in that individual. Rom 14:17 KJV” For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.” Please note that such moments of
Praising the Lord in troubled times comes forth naturally from our hearts when we have meditated a lot on the scriptures and have been exulting the Lord in our hearts. Dear one, we can not overemphasise this point, that is, giving quality time to the word of God. Any child of God who is not seriously given to God’s word lacks the oil of the Spirit and is basically very lean in the Spirit. It is unfortunate that most people are given to social media or games like football. You would have to repent if you wish to help yourself in the things of the Spirit.

In Acts of the Apostles chapter 16, the apostles Paul and Silas were thrown into the dungeon with their feet and hands in stocks. They had been beaten up earlier. Instead of these men lamenting over their pain, disgrace, and the danger they found themselves in, they started praying and then sang praises to God. Act 16:25 KJV “And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. And suddenly, there was a great earthquake, so the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone’s bands were loosed.” God visited them in their trouble. Please, it is your moment to lift the name of the Lord high in praises even at the time when everything looks gloomy.

THOUGHT: IF YOU PRAISE GOD IN TROUBLED TIMES, HE WOULD SURELY SMILE ON YOU
