Command and teach.

KEY SCRIPTURE 1Ti 4:11 KJV” These things command and teach.”

Apostle Paul now tells Pastor Timothy about how to present such important truths to his congregation. He said he must command and teach  them to do or observe all that he has been telling them. To Command demands a level of seriousness for what he is saying. When the Lord was speaking about Abraham during the period when the sins of Sodom and Gomorrah had risen to Him. He made the following statement about Abraham: Gen 18:19 KJV” For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.”

The people  of Sodom and Gomorrah had no guides or restrictions, and so they lived like wild beasts. The church, which is the pillar and ground of truth, must  not tolerate  certain ways of doing things but must insist. that God’s acceptable ways are adhered to

The pastor must demonstrate a level of sternness in his presentations.

An example of a pastor who was not stern with his children, and so their deviant ways cost him his very life. This was Eli the priest. 1Sa 3:13 KJV ” For I have told him that I will judge his house for ever for the iniquity which he knoweth; because his sons made themselves vile, and he restrained them not.” Eli was not stern with his sons. He allowed them to do what they wanted. Eli died on the very day his sons were slain on the battlefield. The scripture tells pastors to warn the unruly in the church. 1 Th 5:14 KJV “Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.”

Dear pastors, Apostle Paul wrote to Timothy as well as the church leaders in Thessalonica, yet by extension, he is writing to every pastor or minister who speaks to some congregation of a sort.Dear pastor, a command has no ambiguity about it. It is the only way certain things ought to be done. Failure to do them or doing it the way that is required would result in corresponding consequences that are always unpleasant.

In John 2:15 the Lord seeing that the house God which should be a holy place of prayer had teaching of God’s word , had  become a market  centre where all kinds of things was sold. The Lord made scourge of cords and aggressively drove out these traders and money changers. There moments when the pastor should come against evil with the seriousness that it deserves.

THOUGHT:.BE AS WISE AS A SERPENT AND  AS HARMLESS AS A DOVE
