KEY SCRIPTURE:1Ti 4:12 KJV” Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.”
Today, we look at the last, but not the least, of the virtues that apostle Paul instructed Timothy to distinguish himself, so he would be an example unto the believers. Purity is a life devoid of the works of the flesh. Purity is primarily the state of the mind, that is, when one maintains spiritual mindedness. The mind is the main target of the devil in every aspect of the Christian life. Satan and his demons seek to create or build a stronghold in the minds of the children of God. A stronghold in practical experience is a cave in a mountain. This cave could become a hiding place for certain people or even wild animals.
When the enemy succeeds in planting a wrong thought, image or idea in the mind of an individual, it becomes a hiding place for a demon personality to hide there. Impurity always creates a hiding place for defiling spirits to stay in such people.
When a brother entertains thoughts of immorality, envy, greed , pride or any of the works of the flesh. These things defile the believers. The pastor must not in any way give in to these things. Please note that no one would notice if you give way to any impure thoughts, yet the results of it would soon be demonstrated in his life.
How can a pastor stay free from all kinds of impure ways? You must acknowledge your oneness with Jesus. 1Co 6:17 KJV”, But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.” The nature of sin is not in you. ( Rom 6:6) Tell yourself I am one with Christ and so ,I can not give way to anything impure. Tell yourself every wrong thought or desire is alien to you, and therefore it is from outside. The devil succeeds by making people do these things because they accept these thoughts as their own thoughts. Dear Child of God, no wrong thought comes from you. They are always external influences trying to take hold of you, so refuse. Dear pastor or child of God, stand your ground against anything impure.
Please know that your authority as a Christian is linked to your purity. Heb 1:8 KJV” But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.” Now the sceptre is the symbol of the authority of any kingdom, and that is our purity. The challenge of impurity is that, if the pastor lives an impure life, he will produce church members who are like him. Choose to keep yourself pure.
THOUGHT: IMPURITY IS TOO EXPENSIVE FOR IT WOULD LOSE GOD FOR DEMONS
