GOD’S POWER IN YOU ANSWERS ALL PROBLEMS

KEY SCRIPTURE: Acts 28:10 ” Who also honoured us with many honours; and when we departed, they laded us with such things as were necessary”.

Apostle Paul manifested the glory of God on the island of Melita. After Paul had healed Publius’ father, the bible said the following in verse 9:” So, when this was done, others also, who had diseases in the island, came, and were cured”.

The scriptures added that after the mass healings, the inhabitants also honoured them with many honours. They also put on board the things they needed for their journey. Be mindful of the fact that they had thrown their valuables into the sea when the storm was against them. Now, through the power of the Holy Spirit working in Paul, they received such favour that all their lost were given back to them. No selfless servant of God shall lack the presence of God that brings a solution in times of need.

Apostle Peter asked the Lord. In Mark 10:28 “…Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee. The following was the Lord’s answer, Mark 10:30:” But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.” The Lord said those who have left all to follow him shall receive a hundredfold of what they left, plus persecutions. To serve Christ is to present the news and message that brings liberty to men. Such a man would equally be blessed by those he has served with the good news. The only caution is that no man of God should merchandise the power of God. God’s grace should not be sold for money. This is an abuse of the power of God.

According to the Lord Jesus, true servants of God have a hundredfold of what they have lost. Let’s all be careful about how we attack certain men of God. As a child of God, you may be endangering your own life by doing so. You may not know the degree of sacrifices they have made for God. Attacking them may bring you into God’s anger. Dear child of God, if you are a Christian, then you may be very cautious about speaking against certain men of God. There are some people whose actions are purely against God’s word, and we only relate or talk about their actions in relation to the revealed will of God.

PRAYER

I pray for all true servants of God to lead. Very selfless lives and to be a true light to many who are seeking to know the truth. May the Lord also expose every wolf in sheep’s clothing.

Matthew 7:15 ” Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.”

TO BE EFFECTIVE FOR GOD, YOU MUST KNOW HIM

KEY SCRIPTURE: Acts 28:8 ” And it came to pass, that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and of a bloody flux: to whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his hands on him, and healed him”.

Apostle Paul continues with his exploits on the island of Melita. Paul healed the father of Publius, who had a fever and dysentery. He healed many who were sick. Paul was a man who knew his God. True knowledge of God is the basis for doing exploits in His name, Jesus. Daniel 11:32 “And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits”.

The Bible says those who know their God shall wax strong and do exploits. Dear child of God, seek to know God for yourself. Sadly, a lot of people know their man of God, yet the God of this man they know not. The word says those who do know their God shall wax strong. Knowing God imparts stability, courage, and decisiveness to a man. Failure in life is mostly a function of weakness. Weakness breeds subjectivity

This is what makes people yield to various conditions that show up. A true knowledge of God stabilises your focus. There is no success in any endeavour without a decisive focus on what one is aiming at.

Apostle Paul declares in 2 Timothy 1:12 that “. I know whom I have believed, and I am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

I ask again, do you know this, God? How much prepared are you to commit everything into His hands? Paul’s achievements in Christ were all due to his absolute dedication to Jesus based on his knowledge of Him. You can also know Him if you seek Him with all your heart. (Jeremiah 29:13)He says he will make himself known to you if you would keep His word and do them (John 14:21,22). You can also know Him as you search the scriptures. John 5:39 “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me”.

Remember, those who seek in truth always find

CONFESSION

I know the Lord. I am made strong and stable because of my knowledge of Him. Nothing moves or shakes me in this life. I am full of outstanding successes in all I do. God is always glorified in me.

FAITH STOPS EVERY DANGER

KEY SCRIPTURE: Acts 28:3 &5 “And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand. And he shook off the beast into the fire and felt no harm.”

Paul and the rest of the people on the ship arrived on an island called Melita, which in the present day is known as Malta.

The inhabitants of the island were extremely hospitable to them. They made a fire to keep themselves warm. Paul collected some sticks to add to the existing fire. Instantly, a viper sprang out of the fire and fastened on his hand. Vipers are very poisonous and very aggressive snakes. The fire will even make it more aggressive since its life was threatened. This will make it instinctively sting or bite Paul. Paul did not act like a terrified person. He likewise shook off the beast into the fire.

Everybody present expected Paul to die. They waited for some moments and then concluded that he was a god. (Acts 28:6)This event explains something mysterious about the Christian. The scriptures teach that all those who received Jesus by believing in His name were given the power to become sons of God. Who is the Son of God? A son of God is a divine being in the class of God. A son of God is a god.

Psalms 82:6 ” I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High. I believe he knew that Jesus had said believers would take up serpents, and they shall not hurt them. Mark 16:18. Now, from the scriptural account, Paul did not panic in any way. He quietly shook the creature into the fire. The secret of the Christian’s victory in this world is our faith in the word of God.

Paul did not wait till the hour of evil to look for faith to overcome. He was always ready. Faith is the victory that overcomes. (1st John 5:4). The scripture says all things are possible to them that believe. Our place in Christ has opened us into a world of possibilities. Feed your heart with God’s word, ready always to shake off every evil attack into God’s ever-ready fire to consume it.

What would have happened if Paul had panicked? There would have been no divine security for him. He would have died, and God’s program for his life would have been aborted. NOTE: OUR SECURITY AS CHRISTIANS IS ONLY GUARANTEED ON THE BASIS OF OUR FAITH IN GOD.

CONFESSION

I am deeply rooted in God. I am one with my Lord. My faith is always ready to overcome every fiery dart Satan throws at me. God is always glorified in me.

LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE

KEY SCRIPTURE: Acts 27:33. “And while the day was coming on, Paul besought them all to take meat, saying, this day is the fourteenth day that ye have tarried and continued fasting, having taken nothing”.

Once again, Apostle Paul demonstrates leadership and also causes his light to shine so brightly. The Lord taught us in Matthew 5:16 that we should let our light so shine before men, that they may see our good works, and glorify our Father, which is in heaven. Paul did not hide his light under a bushel.

How did Paul go about demonstrating his light?

  1. He was not quiet about his convictions. In a sense, Paul was not shy or afraid to say what he felt God wanted the people to know. Many talents, potentials and abilities that could have blessed many and made celebrities out of certain individuals, are hidden or unused because those individuals were shy or afraid about voicing their views or standing up to say this is what I think. Real failure is not doing or saying what you are supposed to. Your fear of sharing the gospel with certain people at a specific moment could spell the doom and destruction of that person. Now listen to what the Lord says about us taking advantage of the moment. He asks us to say what He has asked us to say. Jeremiah 1:17 “Thou therefore gird up thy loins, and arise, and speak unto them all that I command thee: be not dismayed at their faces, lest I confound thee before them”. The Lord says, if you fail to say what he asks you to tell whatsoever he commands you to tell them, you will be confounded before them.
  2. Paul demonstrated his light by loving the people. Loving people is always radiant. In love with them, he stood before them, being concerned about their health status due to not eating for two weeks. He advised them to take some food for the sake of their health. Acts 27:33 “And while the day was coming on, Paul besought them all to take meat, saying, this day is the fourteenth day that ye have tarried and continued fasting, having taken nothing”. Love is selfless and kind. Your demonstration of love would bring peace, trust, and brotherliness to any group of people. It will make you shine, and the name of the Lord will be glorified
  3. Apostle Paul also demonstrated his light by expressing his faith in God. Faith releases the supernatural power of God and brings answers to men. It always remains a wonder to natural men, causing them to give glory to God. When the group of men on the ship were in a state of bewilderment, Paul spoke in faith, assuring them that none shall lose a strand of hair and that all will be safe. Acts 27:34b” ……. for there shall not a hair fall from the head of any of you”. As a child of God, your words in a moment of crisis, fear, and despair must be of faith, bringing comfort and assurance to your audience. Trust in God’s faithfulness, and speak of his protection, supplies and his love to save mankind from calamities. As a child of God, you are Christ’s representative, so speak in the name of the Lord and FOR Him.

CONFESSION

I am a representative of Christ, and He is my Lord. I am not ashamed about anything, but to see His name honoured and glorified. I shine to His glory, demonstrating the love of God and the power of God to bless many lives.

TO BE LED BY THE SPIRIT IS TO BE IN CHARGE

KEY SCRIPTURE: Acts 27:24. “Saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee”

Apostle Paul came to the centurion and assured him to be of good cheer because there would be no loss of life. What made Paul speak to the centurion this way?

Paul says an angel of the Lord, whom he serves, stood by him the previous night and said to him that he must stand before Caesar to share the gospel with him. The angel said something very incredible to Paul. In Acts 27:24, He said to Paul, “……, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee”. The angel tells him that God has given him all those who are with him. Why would God say every soul on the ship has been put in Paul’s hand? All that the angel said meant Paul had dedicated himself to God such that he was under special supervision or special protection because of his position in God. Just consider how he described his relation to the angel. Acts 27:23 “For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve”, He said He is owned by God and lives to serve God.

Paul said I do not live for myself. This position made him simply very special to the point that his safety became the security of the rest of the people on the ship. If Paul had not been on the ship, every man on the ship would have been prepared to be destroyed. The surety of Paul’s safety was his dedication to God and the *assignment that he was committed to. He was to stand before Caesar to share the gospel with him and the people at the palace. The threats of the storms were too small to stop God’s agenda. Dear brother or sister, you can make yourself special in this life by taking an uncompromising stand for God and His work. God’s agenda is the only thing that really matters in this life. What negative thing in this life can threaten or stop God’s agenda? Can disease, persecution, lack, or any man, whether weak or powerful, be strong enough to stop God’s agenda for your life? Your life seems to be ordinary because you are not committed to any special business for God. Remember that in the jungle, when the lion leads, every animal submits. In the higher form, if God leads you, you would definitely be in charge.

Apostle Paul assured them further that he believed that everything would be as the angel said to him. Always believe God like a child would believe his parents. This is what releases the power of God for continual victory.

PRAYER

Dear Father, I pray and receive strength to be totally committed to your course for my life. Father, in your name, I will stand for any call you allow me to be part of.

DIVINE COUNSEL IS ALWAYS SUPERIOR TO HUMAN COUNSEL 2

KEY SCRIPTURE: Acts 27:21. ” But after long abstinence Paul stood forth in the midst of them, and said, Sirs, ye should have hearkened unto me, and not have loosed from Crete, and to have gained this harm and loss“

When the ship carrying Paul got to Crete, Paul told the centurion who was taking charge of them that the voyage or journey would be dangerous, and so they must not set off. Acts 27:10

“And said unto them, Sirs, I perceive that this voyage will be with hurt and much damage, not only of the lading and ship, but also of our lives”. The captain of the ship convinced the centurion not to consider what Paul said.

The following are some of the challenges that the crew on the ship went through. Acts 27:17 &18

“Which, when they had taken up, they used helps, undergirding the ship; and, fearing lest they should fall into the quicksand, strake sail, and so were driven. And we being exceedingly tossed with a tempest, the next day they lightened the ship” These people went through hell because of the simple instruction they failed to heed. Dear child of God, the scriptures are given for our admonition unto a life of peace.

The Psalmist said, “He makes me lie down in green pastures and leads me beside the still waters.” Our souls are restored. Psalm 23: God’s word is a divine law, and those who disobey shall have no peace. Romans 2:9 ‘Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile’; What is an evil act? Evil actions are simply not doing what the Lord asks you to do. The scripture says tribulation and anguish to every soul that does evil.

There are some Christians who are going through ‘hell’ and nothing seems to work out well for them. These brethren are simply being adamant about what the Spirit of God tells them to do. To some, it is to break away from a relationship. For others, it may be forgiving one who has hurt them or confessing a wrong done. It may be a habit that the Holy Spirit tells you to stop. Until the prodigal son decided to turn away from His rebellious life, there was no peace and no satisfaction for him. (Luke 15:11—32)

Paul and all who were on the ship struggled for survival to the point that they had to empty the ship of so much that was on it. All these would not have happened if they had listened to Paul. What is that one thing God is asking you to stop?

PRAYER

O Father, I pray that my spiritual senses would be sharpened to easily know or hear what you are saying to me at any moment. I also receive the ability to do what you may be saying promptly.

DIVINE COUNSEL IS ALWAYS SUPERIOR TO HUMAN COUNSEL

KEY SCRIPTURE: Acts 27:10 “And said unto them, Sirs, I perceive that this voyage will be with hurt and much damage, not only of the lading and ship, but also of our lives”.

Apostle Paul was ultimately set up to sail to Rome to stand before Emperor Caesar to be judged. On the course of the journey, Paul came to the centurion and said to him, “Please, I perceive that this journey would be of great hurt or danger to every one of them.” The bible gave the following response from the centurion. Acts 27:11 “Nevertheless, the centurion believed the master and the owner of the ship, more than those things which were spoken by Paul”. The centurion’s reaction shows that, as Paul said to him, the voyage would be of great danger. The captain of the ship also said he should not mind the things Paul was saying. The centurion just ignored what Paul said.

Many people today would rather listen to human reasons than listen to the voice of God. A literal consideration of Paul’s case should make it very normal for one who does not know the background of an individual to ignore what he says. Putting this literal interpretation aside, most people give no value to spiritual matters. Men easily reject the gospel because they trivialise the whole thing. They contemplate how the death of a man can save them. Some even argue, how can a GOD of love put people in hell to suffer forever? Many more still claim there is no God, and every happening is simply a natural occurrence. Dear reader, do not be deceived. Life is spiritual.

Please just consider what the scripture says: 1 Corinthians 2:14 “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned”. Many people who recovered from a near-death experience reported very horrific scenes of hell and the dark regions. Many of these people were complete atheists who had no religious background. All these people, after they have recovered from that condition, accept Jesus as their Lord. The question is, what is the fate of all those who never recovered from life but died? The centurion did not believe Paul, yet what Paul told him happened perfectly. Acts 27:14 “But not long after, there arose against it a tempestuous wind, called Euroclydon”. What the bible says about hell is true.

Dear reader, if you have not made Jesus Lord over your life, then do not delay any further. It may be too late tomorrow. Accept Jesus as your Lord and personal saviour TODAY.

You may pray the following prayer.

PRAYER

Lord Jesus, I am a sinner. I believe you died for my sins. I make you Lord of my life. Come into my life today as I surrender my life to you. Thank you, Jesus, for saving my soul.

WHAT IS YOUR RESPONSE TO THE GOOD NEWS?

WHAT IS YOUR RESPONSE TO THE GOOD NEWS ?

KEY SCRIPTURE: Acts 26:28 “Agrippa said unto Paul, almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian”.

Apostle Paul continued with his defence.AS we have realized he kept sharing the gospel to the dignitaries present as well as the multitudes gathered to hear him. The following scripture is a sample of his word to the people. Acts 26:22 “Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come”: He says he continuous to share the gospel to small and great telling them only what the word of God says. What are you also doing for the Lord? Our Life is a seed planted by GOD to partake of the glorious fruits that we bear. Unfortunately, many of us are not bearing fruits at all. Some of us are bearing very sour fruits. What kind of fruits are you bearing?Apostle Paul took advantage of every opportunity to share the gospel, hoping to get people saved.

During Paul’s message to the people, governor Festus shouted, “Paul, your much learning is making you mad.” King Agrippa also gave his response .He said , “Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.” He heard the message was persuaded that Paul was speaking the truth, yet did not make a decision to accept Jesus as his Lord and personal saviour. My question to you is, what will you do about the gospel? The Lord Jesus died to take away your sins and my sins to present us a holy people without blemish unto God. He has also given us His life to live the God kind of life. Heaven shines with glory to receive all those who would accept Jesus and live uprightly, while Hell burns in anger to consume all those who refuse to accept this great sacrifice that Jesus made for all humanity. What would you do about your eternal destiny?

Don’t act like King Agrippa, who had the wonderful opportunity to choose Christ, but rather allowed pride and lust to becloud his mind. Jesus is not in the class of any man; He is God who died for you. Hebrew 2:3 “How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him”;

CONFESSION

Thank you, heavenly Father, for giving us your only begotten Son who died to take away my sins and give me everlasting life. I confess Him as the LORD OF MY LIFE and surrender the rule of my life to Him.Dear Father, help me by your Spirit to please you always.Amen.

FORGIVENESS AND INHERITANCE 2

KEY SCRIPTURE: Acts 26:18 “To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me”.

In our previous study, we started looking at some of the inheritance that our place in Christ has made available for us. The scriptures abound with verses that speak about this inheritance. Ephesians 1:1 1 “In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worked all things after the counsel of his own will”: Our effectiveness as children of God is fully related with the perfect knowledge of these inheritances’ Philemon 1:6 “That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus”.

Among our inheritance in Christ are:

  1. We have received the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38 “And Peter said unto them, Repent ye, and be baptised every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ unto the remission of your sins; and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit”.
  2. We have received healing for our bodies. 1st Peter 2:24 “who his own self bare our sins in his body upon the tree, that we, having died unto sins, might live unto righteousness; by whose stripes ye were healed”.

3 We have been adopted as ‘adult’ sons with full rights to every privilege of our Lord Jesus Christ. This makes us joint heirs with our Lord Jesus. Ephesians 1:5 “having foreordained us unto adoption as sons through Jesus Christ unto himself, according to the good pleasure of his will” (Refer to Rom 8:17)

  1. We have received an abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness. Romans 5:17

“For if, by the trespass of the one, death reigned through the one; much more shall they that receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one, even Jesus Christ”

  1. We are benefactors of the resurrection power that works in us. Ephesians 1:19 “and what the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to that working of the strength of his might which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and made him to sit at his right hand in the heavenly places’,
  2. We are seated in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. Ephesians 2:6. “and raised us up with him, and made us to sit with him in the heavenly places, in Christ Jesus”:

The above blessings are just a few of what we as children of God have inherited in Christ Jesus our Lord. Although these are all ours, it is not automatic that one would experience them. You must appropriate them by faith. This is done by believing them in your heart and confessing that they are yours in Christ, according to Romans 10:10 “for with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation”.

CONFESSION

The grace of God has abounded towards me, an immeasurable provision of his blessings. I appropriate these blessings so I will be more useful to humanity.

FORGIVENESS AND AN INHERITANCE 1

KEY SCRIPTURE: Acts 26:18 “To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me”.

Apostle Paul was very successful in the mission God gave him to do. This implies the last two impacts, which were to be the result of doing the first three, were fully realised in all those who accepted the message. The impacts of his work were

  1. That they might receive forgiveness of sins
  2. That they might receive the inheritance reserved for everyone in Christ.

Many Christians do not know what really happened when they got saved. The above two statements are exactly what happened to every Christian. In every conversion, there is first a forgiveness of sins. Acts 13:38 “Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins”: Without the forgiveness of sins, no man has anything to do with God. Our Lord Jesus died primarily to take away our sins. God, our Father, is absolutely Holy and can only relate with those who have no trace of sin on them. Dear child of God, it is not a small or mere thing for you to be forgiven every sin.

The second blessing of salvation is to receive your inheritance in Christ. This is the area where many people are found wandering because of ignorance. During the deliverance of the children of Israel from Egypt, God our Father brought them out of Egypt to bring them into their inheritance. Deuteronomy 6:23“And he brought us out from thence, that he might bring us in, to give us the land which he swore unto our fathers”. He says he brought them in to give them the land, which he swore to the fathers. Our inheritance is immense and massive.

  1. One of them is that every promise God made in Him is fulfilled in Christ, and so God says it is yes. 2Cor 1:20 “For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us”. Stop praying that God should fulfil His promises and start thanking him for fulfilling them in Christ.
  2. We have inherited total dominion over the devil. Luke 10:19 “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you”.
  3. We have inherited eternal life. 1st John 5:13 “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God”.
  4. We have received the support and service of angels. Heb 1:14 “Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?”
  5. We have also received all things that pertain unto life and godliness 2Pe 1:3

“According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:”

Space would not permit me to go further to state all our inheritance in Christ.

Among the many that space may not permit for now is our final destination in the kingdom of God
John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him ‘ Truly, truly I say unto you, unless a man is born again, he can not see the kingdom of God” The question now is,’ Are you both again? ‘

PRAYER

Thank you, heavenly father, for saving my soul and bringing me into a world of exceedingly glorious provisions and inheritances. Amen.
