DO NOT BE CONTROLLED BY THE WRONGS OF OTHERS

KEY SCRIPTURE:1 Samuel 18:11 “And Saul cast the javelin; for he said, I will smite David even to the wall with it. David avoided out of his presence twice.”

Please read 1st Samuel 18:1-30

Saul began to envy David. He threw a Javelin to pin him to the wall but failed 1st Samuel 18:11. Saul’s idea of giving his daughter to David was to get him ultimately killed, yet that also failed. He said he does not want any dowry or bride prize from him, but a hundred foreskins of the Philistines. He intended that the Philistines would kill him in the cause of fighting.

All these traps failed. David was never bitter towards Saul. He maintained his relationship with God. There are a lot of people who respond to situations and allow their moods to run down. Some women get so depressed that they wish they were dead. Some husbands feel their wives are the cause of all their troubles. Some wives are also fighting their husbands because they are making them unhappy.

Please read Luke 6:27-38

Jesus taught in that passage that you always get what you give. If the person is treating you badly, do not retaliate in the same manner, give him or her love, kindness, and forgiveness and you will surely reap what you gave. Stop that crazy cycle of tit for tat.

In the case of David, the very king who ruled the whole land was against him, yet David was not bitter to the point that he may decide to take his own life. What sustained him? David had his confidence in God. Dear brother or sister, NEVER LET ANY MORTAL MAN DETERMINE WHETHER YOU ARE HAPPY OR NOT. It is your choice whether you are happy or not. Please read through Psalm 46. In verse 5, David said, “God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early”. Stop fighting people to make you happy. That is a mirage. Stop crying over any bad situation you find yourself. Your Father God is on the throne, and you are reigning with Him. Turn your eyes from the condition and praise the Lord for His victories.

The scriptures said David behaved himself wisely. A complaining man couldn’t have behaved wisely. He lived above the situations all the time. Indeed, none of the plans of King Saul succeeded. King Saul was rather afraid of him. Why do the evil intentions of the enemy seem to prevail in your case? When you have an evil feeling towards others, God is not involved with you, so every evil work of the enemy will prevail against you… Forgive and place your confidence in God. Turn your heart from those you think are hurting you. Turn to God and use His power to overcome the wrong situations.

BEHAVE WISELY LIKE DAVID DID.

  CONFESSION

Father, your word rules my heart. No bitterness will fill my heart against anyone. By the power of God, I overcome every situation.

FURTHER STUDIES.

Psalms 46:1 ” God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.  Therefore, will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;”

Rom 12:21 KJV “Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.”

EVIL TRANSACTIONS AT NIGHT

KEY SCRIPTURE:1 Kings 3:20 KJV” And she arose at midnight, and took my son from beside me, while thine handmaid slept, and laid it in her bosom, and laid her dead child in my bosom.”

Please read 1 Kings 3:16-28

In the above passage, two mothers brought a contention between them to King Solomon to judge their matter for them. These women gave birth at around the same time to a boy each. They also sleep together in the same room. At night one of them slept on her baby and suffocated him. She quickly went to her friend and exchanged her dead child with. that of the woman whose baby was living because she was fast asleep. Dear one, a lot of evil exchanges and transactions go on while men sleep.

In our previous study, I explained to you the kind of sleep that allows the enemy to do whatever he wants to do without any resistance. It is unfortunate to find Christians who are patrons of pornographic materials. The word pornography is coined from two Greek words. ‘Poinea’ and ‘graphe’. Poinea means evil and graphe means writing. Pornography means evil writings or evil pictures. How can you be watching evil pictures? These practices are demon-influenced and controlled. You admit those demons into your life if you watch it. Any Christian who watches such a thing is seriously sleeping, and demons have the absolute freedom to make whatever transactions they choose to engage in your life.

Certain brethren just realise all the spiritual fire, zeal, and certain gifts no longer function. Certain ministers have entangled themselves in all kinds of scandals because they have been sleeping and snoring in all kinds of fleshly dominances. People’s health has been exchanged for certain diseases because they were sleeping. When Job was confessing his fears in Job 3:25, he was seriously sleeping. Prov 6:2 KJV “Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth”. Dear child of God, the Christian is called to show forth the praises of God 1st Peter 2:9.In the light of this he is not supposed to be defeated by the enemy. The Christian shares in the authority of Jesus. Satan whose power is darkness should never under any condition take advantage of the child of God. Satan succeeds when the Christian is sleeping.

Once again, it is time to wake up from every sleep and keep awake. Jesus said, “Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. He meant to be, awake spiritually. You can’t be watching while you are sleeping.

CONFESSION

God’s word is my light, and no darkness can overcome it. I live continually in the light, and that keeps me awake all the time.

Gal 5:16 KJV” This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.”

Rom 8:8 -9KJV “So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now, if any man has not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.”

WHEN MEN SLEPT

KEY SCRIPTURE: Mat 13:25 KJV” But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.”

In the above verse, the Lord Jesus referred to one aspect of the functioning of the kingdom of God. Such statements from the Lord refer to how certain matters work out in the Spirit realm.

Sleeping is one of the gifts to a man that repairs or refreshes his whole body when observed, yet there is a spiritual symbolism of sleep that is not very good for us to engage in. At such moments, man is at his weakest best, and gives access to any enemy to easily take advantage of him, to do whatever he (the enemy) desires. Indeed he has no resistance from you at all at such a time.

When does the sleep of men become a let out to his enemy to take advantage of him? Sleep occurs in the night. The night hours are called the dark hours. Darkness is also the spiritual state of the power of Satan Col 1:13. Sleep in this context becomes an activity of darkness. Now let’s look at a few scriptures that refer to this matter.

Rom 13:11-12 KJV” And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.”

In this verse, the Bible calls sleeping as works of darkness.

Eph 5:14 KJV: Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.”

At this moment, he equates sleep to death.

1Th 5:6 KJV” Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.”

More scriptures make references to sleeping that is the wrong type of sleep.

When a child of God does anything contrary to the word of God, he or she is sleeping. Leaving in sin is a spiritual sleeping state. Walking in unforgiveness is a spiritual sleeping state. Negative and unscriptural confessions are all wrong or evil sleeping states. The Bible said at such moments the enemy or your enemy comes along and sows evil seeds into your life. Prayerlessness and all forms of lukewarmness are very dangerous sleeping moments in which many find themselves. The Christian is light and the devil whose power is darkness should never under any condition mess up the Christian, yet many believers are suffering under all forms  of evil PLANTINGS in their lives

Dear child of God, it is time to wake up from your slumber and deal with any evil seeds that might have been planted in your life

Turn to the Lord in prayer and repentance, turning away from that wrong way.Isa 55:7 KJV” Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.”

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, I pray, asking forgiveness for whatever wrong actions, gave access to the enemy to attack my life. I repent from every wrong way. Have mercy on me and help me recover whatever I lost or evil work that has been sown in my life. Thank you, Lord Jesus.

INTIMATE WALK WITH GOD

KEY SCRIPTURE: 1 Samuel 18:1” And it came to pass when he had made an end of speaking unto Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul”.

Please read 1st Samue 18:1-23

God brought David into a soul tie with Jonathan (Please note: Soul tie is a knitting of the souls of two individuals as a result of their associating with each other). This was a plan of God to help David escape some of the plans of his father against him.

David’s victory over Goliath also caused Saul to decide to keep David without going to his father. He stopped being a shepherd boy from that day. He had been anointed to be king over Israel and must begin going through a series of preparations to become a king. As children of God, our heavenly father may change certain life engagements, and we should not resist his dealings but rather be sensitive.

In 1st Samuel 18:5, the Bible says “And David went out wheresoever Saul sent him and behaved himself wisely, and Saul set him over the men of war and he was accepted in the sight of all the people and also in the sight of Saul’s servants”. David cooperated with the Spirit to distinguish himself excellently.

The secret of his success was his intimate walk with God, which produced a great faith in God.

The Psalms written by David reveal the inner life and thoughts of David that caused him to excel. He said in Psalm 1:1-2 that” blessed is the man that does not walk in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in the seat of the scornful, but his delight is in the law of God. In his law, he meditates day and night”. David was given to the word of God and the fear of God. This strengthened his faith so much. He was always exceptional. May we also place God’s word above every other view or persuasion. He behaved wisely always. Remember that true wisdom is always a function of obeying God’s word. Ps 111:10.

In 1st Samuel 18:7, the women of Israel decided to praise David over Saul for his achievement, and that started a new phase of life problems for David. Saul envied him and therefore persecuted him till he (Saul) died. The women did not act wrongly. This is the uniqueness of women. What men may take a month to say, a woman would take 5 minutes to say it!

David never blamed any woman for his woes. He faced all the difficulties that came his way by trusting God to see him through. Throughout the story of David, he was never overtaken with bitterness against anyone. He committed himself to God, who was able to deliver him. People normally complain and become very bitter about challenges because they are not prepared to trust God to see them through. We must all learn from the life of David. David established a very close relationship with the Lord, and so It was not difficult for him to trust the Lord in trying moments.

PRAYER

I pray for all those in trying situations. May they be strengthened to trust the Lord and act wisely in situations in Jesus’ name.

FURTHER STUDIES.

Psalms 23:1. “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.”

Psalms 91:1-2” He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge, and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust”.

DIVINE APPOINTMENT

KEY SCRIPTURE: 1 Samuel 17:29. And David said, what have I now done?” Is there not a cause?

Jesse the father of David asked him to go visit his senior brothers who were on the warfront, to know how they were doing. Father Jesse sent him to visit his brothers at the war front, but God had a plan to reveal David to the whole of Israel. David also saw God’s agenda and quickly grabbed it. When his brothers tried to discourage him, he asked,’ Is there not a cause?’

May we also see God’s appointment for our breakthrough to take advantage of it.

In 1st Samuel 17:23-24, Goliath, the champion of the Philistines, came defying the army of Israel. David heard him and started asking what would be done for the man who killed him and took away the reproach from Israel.?. The men of Israel saw Goliath and fled from him in fear. Why did David and the Israeli soldiers act differently? David was focusing on God; the Israeli soldiers were thinking about themselves. Dear child, of Go, all weakness in faith is all because you are consumed with yourself. Stop considering yourself start focusing on the word of God, and see life as an avenue of living only for the interest of God and not yourself.

To David killing Goliath was as easy as killing an ant because it was going to be done by the almighty God through him. FAITH DOES NOT SEE BIG PROBLEMS TO BE CONQUERED BUT SEES A BIG GOD WHO HAS ALREADY DEFEATED A SMALL PROBLEM.   From today stop magnifying any problem and allow the almighty God to stop that problem for you as you act on his word in faith.

David kept asking what would be done for the man who would kill the enemy. His brother Eliab heard him and became furious because he loved his brother and felt he was walking into his grave: David did not answer his senior brother arrogantly. He just said “What have I now done, is there not a cause? That statement was inspired by the Spirit of God. Indeed, there was a cause why David came there. The next verse says he David, turned from him towards another and spoke after the same manner.

Never hang around those who discourage you. Maintain your focus. David’s words got to King Saul and was given an audience with the king. King Saul also gave a discouraging word to David, yet David, whose confidence in God was very high, began to share with the king the great victories God had won through him. King Saul became convinced and gave him his armour to fight with. David wore it and realized he could not fight with that armour. The armour of flesh would always fail. Don’t trust in human ability; whenever you face the devil, use your faith in God.

David encountered Goliath by speaking the words of faith. We always overcome the enemy by declaring boldly the word of God in faith.

Note: David added action to his words by running to face the enemy, and then he cast the stone.

 CONFESSION

My faith in God is strong because I continually fix my eyes on God and His word. In the name of Jesus, I cut off the head of every Goliath that challenges me.

FURTHER THOUGHTS TO STAY PURE

KEY SCRIPTURE: Matthew 5:28” But I say unto you, that whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart”.

To stop any wrong actions, you must first stop all those wrong thinking and imagination. Dr. Billy Graham of blessed memory, speaking on this verse, said, “After the first look, do not take the second look”. He added, “Mind the second”. He meant after the first look; you have the opportunity to make up your mind either to look again or not to look. To look the second time with lust means you have willingly chosen to do so, and therefore, you are fully liable.

Now listen to how the upright and righteous man Job put it “I made a covenant with mine eyes, why then should I think upon a maiden? Job 31:1. He covenanted with his eyes that he would not think of a woman. You can do the same. The eyes, ears, touch, taste, and smell are all gates into your heart, but the mind is the ultimate part or door that allows whatever it is to get to the heart. Always remember that “a decided mind cannot be tempted “. As Job said, put the mind on the right ‘ path” and your actions shall also be right.

The apostle Paul says in Romans 12:2 “And be not conformed to this world but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind …” The mind is always the control center of all actions, so renew it. Change your mental programming by feeding on the word of God. The psalmist asked in PS 119:9, how can a young man keep his way pure? And he answered, by taking, heed according to thy word. In verse 11, he said, “thy word have I hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against you .”Do not fight your wrong actions. Just give extra attention to the word. Read it over and over again, meditate on it, and say it to yourself. As you do this, you are setting your mind on the right path to determine how to act in line with your thinking. The Lord Jesus said all that I have said earlier in Matthew 12:33 “Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit”. Feed yourself with good things (the word), and you will be good.

CONFESSION

My mind is the door to my heart, I feed my mind continually with the word, and therefore, my actions are always in agreement with the word.

Prayer Point: Open my eyes of understanding to your word in Jesus’ name.

STAY PURE 2

KEY SCRIPTURE: Daniel 1:8 “But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore, he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.”

We learned some time ago the word church is the Greek word ‘Ekklesia’ which is coined out of two Greek words, ‘Ek’ which is out of, and the word ‘kalio’ which also is to call. This gives the meaning to the word Ekklesia as the called-out ones.

Every Christian has been called out of the world. Whenever we do the things people of the world do which is contrary to the word of God, we defile ourselves and by that, we destroy God’s import of separating us from the world.

The word ‘church’ could also mean the separated ones. This is the meaning of the Greek word for ‘Holy’ or ‘Saints’. That is Hagios (1 Corinth. 1:2). If you are a child of God then you are a Saint or a Holy one. You should not defile yourself with what the world sees nothing wrong with yet the Father hates it.

It was nothing wrong for the Babylonians to eat from the King’s table but to God, it was an abomination. That was the food offered to the idols. It was a way these people fellowshipped with their demon spirits. How could the man with the spirit be party to such a thing. 2 Corinthians 6:14 “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?”

In our modern times, it is very normal for a man and a woman to live together under the same roof. Men call it cohabitation. Yet God says it is a sin and defiles both parties. Speaking lies via mobile phones is almost becoming universal. Please this is unacceptable to God and you a Saint of God. In our key scripture, Daniel passed the test with distinction. He purposed in his heart not to defile himself.

This is what you must do:

1. Know who you are. You are a saint. A holy man or woman

2. Decide you will not defile or make yourself impure by that sinful way

3. Stay by your decision

The result was God’s approval and honor. Daniel and his friends became healthier, wiser, and handsome ten times than all those who ate the food from the King’s table. Take a stance for God and your life will be ultimately promoted far higher than your peers.

CONFESSION: I have decided by the grace of God not to defile my holiness with the ways of the world. I do not have any challenges from the appeals of the flesh or the world because my mind is made up and cannot be turned in another direction.

STAY PURE

KEY SCRIPTURE: Matthew 5:8” Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.”

February has been captioned the month of love. Sadly, the kind of love is the amorous love that causes many to act against the word of God. Some teenagers have sadly broken their virginity at such a time. Some of these are children of God who go that way.

Hebrews 12:14 teaches that we should follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man would see the Lord. Without holiness, you have no audience with the Lord. Our key scripture also teaches that without purity, no man would see the Lord. From these statements, we can conclude that holiness is equivalent to purity.

Purity from the advance learners’ dictionary is being undiluted or unmixed with extraneous material.   How do we get impure? When we allow our hearts to process or dwell on stuff or material that opposes the word of God. This is how the Lord Jesus put it. Mark 7:21-22” For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:”

These things come out of the heart because they are already there and have been given attention to them. When the Lord said he who “looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart”. (Matt 5:28). This person did not just see the woman but saw her and used his reasoning faculties to desire her. Job says he has covenanted with his eyes not to think on a maiden. (Job 31:1). How does the eye think? The eye looks, and the mind does the thinking. He is saying, “I have decided I will not use my mind to think and imagine any wrong desires about a girl.”

How does impure information get to us?

1. Demonic suggestions Ephesians 2:2nd Corinth 11:3

2. Materials we watch, read from all kinds of sources. (Mark 4: 24

3. Influence from friends (1st Corinth 15:33)

4. Vulgar music of our modern day attacks our righteous souls.

Now, anything that does not agree with the word of God will defile or make you impure if you allow it.

How do we stay pure.?

  1. Convince yourself that you have to stay pure and that you can stay pure. (Isaiah 1:18)
  2.  Do as Job did. Decide not to dwell or think about any material, scene, words, or feeling that opposes the word of God.
  3. Feed your heart with the word of God (Psalm 119:9&11)
  4. Say the word to yourself and practice what you read.
  5. Never think you are above being deceived and defiled. Stay prepared.

Remember that, if without purity you can’t see God, then it simply means you have no portion in heaven. YOUR PURITY IS NO. ONE

CONFESSION

I have decided to keep myself pure so I would not miss heaven. I give no attention to any unwholesome material by refusing to let it dwell in my mind.

MIND LUSTFUL LOOKS

KEY SCRIPTURE: Matthew 5:28 “But I say unto you, that whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart”.

Today is Valentine’s Day, and many are going to ride on a roller coaster into sin. Let us pay heed to the Lord’s counsel to stay undefiled.

The Lord Jesus made statements that transcend all generations.

The Lord made a very important truth that can help anyone who wishes to lead an impeccable moral life to do so. The Lord said in our opening scripture that, if a man looks on a woman to lust after her, then he has already committed adultery with her in his heart. This is a very serious statement. Let us bear in mind that God looks at the heart while men look on the outside. 1st Samuel 16: 7b “…. for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart”.

It is true that as a man thinks, so is he. Proverbs 23:7. Your thoughts are very important. The Lord says if a man should look on a woman to lust after her, then he has already committed adultery with her. (this also goes for a woman too) Before any act is done or committed in the flesh, it has already happened in the heart. Before God, you are as guilty in the heart just as you are when committed in the flesh. Many so-called well-cultured individuals have committed adultery in their hearts before God by the things they think about.

I wish to bring to the awareness of all readers of this material that, thoughts are not only ideas or images from a person’s thinking, but also, they proceed from either God, through the agency of the Spirit, or from the devil. (2nd Corinthians 10:4) When a child of God allows his thoughts to dwell on things contrary to the word of God, he is fellowshipping with devils. The Lord said these thoughts defile the man. Mark 7:23 “All these evil things come from within and defile the man”: Your thoughts either sanctify you or defile you. They will project you into whatever heights you can imagine or dwarf you to any minimal level that you allow.

The choice is yours. You pay no pesewa to allow whatever thought comes to you but you are either the loser or benefactor, depending on how you think.

 CONFESSION

I am what I think about. I choose my thoughts in line with God’s word. The Word gives no access to wrong thinking instigated by the flesh.

Romans 8:6-7 “For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be”.

Prayer Point: In the name of Jesus, I take authority over my thoughts to think only in line with the word of God.

DO NOT BE TROUBLED

KEY SCRIPTURE: John 14:27” Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid”.

In the last part of our key scripture, the Lord said “Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid”. The Lord knew very well that there would be a lot of situations and moments that could cause many to be troubled or even afraid.

In John 16:33, the Lord explained, “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulations but be of good cheer I have overcome the world”. In the world, there will always be tribulations. Satan, the arch-enemy of God, and his children raise all kinds of attacks against the people of God. The Lord tells us not to be troubled or to be afraid. A good look at the Lord’s statement in John 16:33 reveals something very powerful: He says in Him we shall have peace, but in the world, we shall have tribulation. This statement would be interpreted that the Lord will always give peace to us while the world comes with its tribulations and antagonisms.

When do the children of God become troubled and even afraid? When the child of God loses awareness of the presence of God because he or she fails to keep the promises of God at heart. One such promise is Hebrews 13:5-6 “Let your conversation be without covetousness, and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me”.

The Lord is forever with us. He has promised never to leave us. The word used in Hebrews 13:5b is an emphasis. The real wording reads. “I will not in any way fail you nor give up, nor leave you without support, I will not, I will not, I will not in any degree leave you helpless, nor forsake, nor let you down (relax my hold on you) (Amp Bible). This is a very strong message of assurance, and every child of God must meditate on these words. This would make your heart ready to stand with the Lord, no matter the challenge that comes against you.

The other thing to do in that trial is to confess the promises that the Lord has given us. Hebrews 13:6 says,” … He has said so that we may boldly say….” Say what the Lord has said boldly.

Do not be worried about whatever comes your way. The presence of the Lord will see you through.

CONFESSION

I am in Christ, in the world, trouble and challenges may abound, but none of these things move me, for I am well secured in the Lord.
