KEY SCRIPTURE: 2 Corinth 4:17 “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory”

To be heavenly minded means being ready to suffer for the cause of Christ. Apostle Paul admonished Timothy to endure hardness as a good soldier of Christ (2nd Tim 2:3).

Enduring adversity or contrary situations is something that every Christian who have heaven on his mind must be prepared to do (note: when I talk about adversity, I do not mean things like sin or sickness, which our Lord redeemed us from.)  These things are the scheming of the devil to frustrate and cause the child of God to surrender his save grounds in Christ.

Apostle Peter encourages us to be aware of the devil who as a roaring lion seeks somebody to devour, whom we must resist steadfast in faith, for the same afflictions are happening to our brethren in the world.

He said further that the God of all grace, who have called us into his eternal glory by Christ Jesus after we have suffered a while, will make us perfect. (1st Peter 5:7-10)

Some of us must forsake ungodly friendship. There are some fraudulent ways of making money, which must be stopped. We may have to make great financial sacrifices to support the work of evangelism. Certain young girls who might have been living in sin, because they are living with a man they are not married to. They must break that relationship and start a new life outright.

This may call for some sacrifices and suffering, yet it must be endured. You may be grievously persecuted because of your faith.

Some may even be killed because of their faith. There are some brethren who would be ejected from their homes because they have been converted from Islam to Christianity.

Our key scripture encourages us that these afflictions are light compared to the weight of glory that we would have eternally. In the light of this do not give up. Another meaning of the word suffer is ”to allow or to endure. This means you could have disallowed it, yet you have willingly accepted to go through. You do so, in order to please the Lord.

We must consider our Lord Jesus, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of God. (Hebrews 12:2).

There is an incomparable glory laid ahead of us, so do not give up.  Hold on till you overcome. It is those who endure to the end, who would be saved.

I have a glorious and eternal home. No sacrifice I endure presently is comparable to the exceeding weight of glory. I would keep my faithfulness to the end.

Romance 8 :17.” And if children, then heirs -heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.”

Mark 13:13.”And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake. But he who endures to the end shall be saved.

KEY SCRIPTURE:1 John 3:2-3  ” Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure”.

According to Acts 17:31 the resurrection of our Lord Jesus from the dead, is an assurance to all men that, one day He would judge ALL MEN in righteousness. You have to be very careful with the way you live

The Lord was asking a question in Matthew 24:43-51, about certain two characters. Of this two, which would you be? These were stewards or servants who were placed over certain people to take care off. The Lord described one as faithful and wise servant who did whatever he was supposed to do. He lived in readiness for the coming back of His master, although he did not know when the master will come. The second was unfaithful and foolish, who acted against his masters instructions, not anticipating his return. He suffered the consequences. His portion would be with the hypocrites, where there would be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Dear brother or sister let us be the wise and the faithful ones. Our key scripture tells us that our Lord is coming back again. We do not know fully what we shall be, but we do know that, when He appears we would be like Him. He added that if any has this hope in Him, He must purify himself, from the state of filth in this life.

The message is that be prepared to meet your Lord. One can easily be tempted to lose his or her focus and get so engrossed with the things on this earth.

We have to be earthly relevant yet we should be heavenly ready.

This is Apostle Peter’s advice to us 2nd Peter 3:11, “Seeing then that all those things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness”. We must all heed to this advice and purify ourselves from all sins of the spirit and the flesh, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. The truth is that God is not a respecter of persons and each person shall be rewarded according to what he would do in this body.

Be heavenly minded and, prepared for the coming of the Lord.

I am prepared for His appearing, I separate myself from the sins of the flesh and spirit and live in readiness for His coming.

2 Corinthians 7:1 “Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God”.

1 Peter 4:18 “And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?”

KEY SCRIPTURE: Colossians 3:1 “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God”.

The new creation is born from above, dispatched to this earth to show men the life of heaven, yet he does not loose awareness of his heavenly home.

Hebrews 13:14 says “For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come”. We come from above and this place is not our lasting home”. This point must come home to every child of God. Many people live as if this place is all that we have. The Bible spoke about the heroes of faith in Hebrews 11 that, “they did not receive the promise, but having seen them afar off   were persuaded of them, embraced them, confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth”.(Hebrews 11:13b). This way of thought or thinking should influence everything we do. Our time on this earth is for the father ”s business. (Luke. 2:49)), we are here to fulfill a task and a mission for our Lord. We are His representatives to show forth His glory to men..   We are to get them from the lies and deceptions of the enemy of their souls and the vanities of this world to get them to come along with us to our glorious home.

It is good we talk about winning and reigning in this life but our purpose for all these is that the glory of God might be seen and men would turn unto our saviour and Lord.

Our Lord Jesus, who is our great example, conquered in this life. He has set the tone for us.  In His teachings, He always made it clear that we have a heavenly home to go. There is going to be judgement and rewards (2nd Corinth 5::10).  We must not get too engrossed with the affairs of this life and loose awareness of the eternal place to be.. Jesus advised that we ‘cut’ off anything that may hinder us from getting into the kingdom of God.  (Matthew 18:8). It implies therefore that, there is nothing too dear to loose now that may be compared with the pain of going to hell. This makes it a very serious matter to be attended to.  BE HEAVENLY MINDED.

We are not just here to enjoy the excitement of living in this world, but to fulfill our task and then report back to our headquarters. I would always keep in mind my mission here, and my ultimate glorious destination.

Mark 9:45 ” And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter half into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched”:

1 John 3:2-3 ” Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure”.

KEY SCRIPTURE: Joshua 1:8  “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success”.

God’s word is man’s manual for living. It shows us what to do to please the Father. Now note this, whatever that pleases the Father, is our victory. Our blessing and our success. The Bible is a success book, success God’s way.

One of such revelations for success in the Bible is our key scripture Joshua 1:8, “This book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it, day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it, for then you shall make your way prosperous and then, you shall have good success.

A prosperous man is a free man. Kings are free people, God’s word shows us from this verse how to be prosperous and have a good success.

The Bible said, this book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night.  The word used for meditate in this verse is the Hebrew word “Hagah”.  This word means moan, growl, utter, muse, and mutter, meditate, speak and roar. It means to ponder over the word by speaking it to yourself. This would build the attitude of a winner into you and bring whatever the word says to pass..  Proverb 15:4 teaches us that “a wholesome tongue is a tree of life, but perverseness is a breach in the spirit”. What is a wholesome tongue? The one that speaks or declares the word of God.

The Bible instructs that we must not let the word depart from our mouth. This means we must not say something else.  Any other word, other than the word of God is unwholesome. It is perverseness, and it is a breach in the spirit. A breach is a fracture, a break, a ruin or shattering,. When we say what we are seeing and feeling instead of what the word says,  is called perverseness. This is an error in the spirit, and the results would be definitely wrong or bad.

Keep saying the scriptures day and night. If a sinful attitude and lifestyle wants to take over you, you must not say I am a sinner rather, you say I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. (2nd Corinth 5:21) Say it day and night, then do as the word says. Do this for any condition you want to change. The word of God on your tongue, coming out with faith in your heart is just like God speaking those words..

As you keep declaring the truth, Jesus the high priest of our confession (Heb 3:1) would communicate to the Father on your behalf, who would dispatch angels for your assistance.(Heb 1:14)

My mouth would declare only what the word says. Our Lord Jesus who is the High Priest of my confession, honours every word which is in line with His word. In this way, I make my way prosperous and I have good success.

Hebrews 3:1 “Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus”;

James 3:2 “For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body”.

KEY SCRIPTURE: 1 Peter 5:9 ” Whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world”.

When God asked Moses to go get the children of Israel from the bondage of Egypt, he kept going to Pharaoh till he finally yielded. Moses kept going and each time he went, he said to Pharaoh, let my people go Exodus 5:1. The king kept resisting, yet Moses also kept demanding that Pharaoh allowed them to go.

In life nothing is taken on a silver platter. You must keep your persistence. Remember PERSISTENCE BREAKS RESISTANCE. Your persistence will surely cause whatever is resisting you to give way.  You must daily raise your voice against that thing.  It does not matter what it may be, by the package of abundance of grace on your side you can’t fail. Do not give up.  Dearly beloved we live in a natural physical world, yet there are unseen beings who seriously influence the cause of events. You must come to terms with the power that backs you.  The great work of our Lord Jesus wrought on the cross that settled every claim of divine justice.  The Bible said in Colossians 2:14 “Blotting out the hand writing of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us and took it out of the way, nailing it to the cross”. Our Lord Jesus has met EVERY demand that could make us vulnerable to the devil, past present, and the future

Please get this straight these demons know very well that our Lord Jesus has blotted out every handwriting of ordinance that was against and contrary to us,  yet they would attack on the grounds that these things are still opposing and contrary to us.  You must not keep your mouth shut.  Consistently declare to these devils or beings that Jesus has blotted out everything that opposed and demanded your destruction. Do not give up or stop till you are finally free. Whatever Jesus sacrificed to bring us liberty, is our right.  So long as you stand on the word insisting on it, it would be finally delivered into your hands.

Many of us easily yield to the resistance of the enemy and claim God does not want to do it for us. Hei! get your understanding well, if he did not want you to have it, why did Jesus pay for it in the first place?.  It is yours, insist on it.

Every blessing that our Lord Jesus sacrificed to obtain for me is mine,  and nothing is going to beat me out of it.  I will persist and steadfastly oppose the enemy till he gives in to my demands.

Deuteronomy 2:24  “Rise ye up, take your journey, and pass over the river Arnon: behold, I have given into thine hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land: begin to possess it, and contend with him in battle”.

1 Peter 5:8-9 ” Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world”.

KEY SCRIPTURE: “Confess to one another therefore your faults (your slips, your false steps, your offences, your sins) pray (also) one for another, that you may be healed, and restored to a spiritual tone of mind and heart. The earnest (heartfelt) continued prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available (dynamic) in its working” AMP BIBLE. James 5:16.

The second part of our opening scripture gives us an age long truth to exercise authority. Authority is the right to use power.  Well, authority without power makes you extremely vulnerable.

Our opening scripture says the righteous man who prays from his heart and continues praying makes tremendous power available. In another sense he saturates himself with power.  This is dynamic in its action.  This means the power is not passive or dormant but very active, operative and brings results.

Prayer does not just go to God, it makes you to be enveloped in power. Sadhu Sundar Singh of India said, ‘praying makes God brood over you, like a mother hen broods over its chicks’. The more you pray, the more you are transformed to be like God’. Our Lord Jesus was a man of prayer. This is what the scripture testified about Him “And they were all amazed, and spoke among themselves saying, what a word is this! For with authority and power he commanded the unclean spirits and they came out“(Mark 1:27). Jesus did not only have words, he had power backing his words. We learn from the revelation in James 5:16 that his passionate prayer preparations provided power to prevail.

To reign in life you need to have power, supernatural power. Do not be a lazy Christian, spend time in His presence like the Lord Jesus did. Somebody said, “Authority is the right to command and be obeyed”. Power always give substance to authority.

Give yourself continually to prayer and you would never want power to exercise your rights.

Indeed a passionate, persistent prayer, preparations, provides power to prevail perpetually. I dedicate my life to prayer and I will never be ignored in this life.

Luke 3:21” Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened,”

Acts 6:4 “But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word”.

KEY SCRIPTURE: Romans 5:1 “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ”:

We continue with our discussions on reigning in life.  We would now consider another aspect of receiving the gift of righteousness of God that gives us access to possess the blessings of God.  This enables us to reign in this life.

Our key scripture informs us that “therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ”. In our earlier discussion we said that when we made Jesus Lord over our lives, we were made the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus (2nd Corinth.5:21).  This is a divine exchange. From our opening scripture, it reveals also that whenever we believe the word we are justified or made righteous.  This is a momentary righteousness conferred on any man who has faith in the word of God.

Genesis 15:6 reads “And Abram believed in the Lord, and He counted him for righteousness”. This gave him access to every blessing contained in the promise.

Apostle Paul writing under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit said in Romans 10:10 that “For with the heart man believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation”. Once again the Spirit is revealing that anytime we believe the word spoken to us, we are justified or made righteous. It is God’s way of saying, by believing my words you are faultless. There is no iota of sin or barrier to hinder you from partaking of the blessings.

Dear child of God, God places a very high premium on believing his word (John 6:28,29). So long as you believe you are totally acquitted of every error, and therefore, you are ready to take what belongs to you. The next step that delivers the answer into your hands is to declare with your mouth what you have believed. This is very vital. (Romans 10:10 2nd Corinthians 4:13).No matter how impossible the situation may seem, always believe in the Lord and what He says.

My faith in God always justifies me or makes me righteous before God.  I believe every word from the mouth of God. I reign by possessing every promise given to me.

2 Corinthians 4:13 ,” We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;”

Mark 11:23  ” For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.”
