KEY SCRIPTURE: John 6:64 KJV” But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him.”

We learnt in our previous discussions that, the word of God is Spirit and life. It is the highest principle that rules everything in this life. Submitting to it is the only means to unlock the mighty potential within it. The Lord said there were some of the people with Him who did not believe all that He was telling them about the word. In actual fact He knew what was in their heart and the one who would betray Him. This is very unfortunate yet there are many professing Christians who do not believe what the word teaches.

What on earth could make a people walking daily with Jesus yet refuse to believe all that He says, after seeing all the miracles the Lord did? Judas His financial secretary later betrayed Him for only thirty pieces of silver. You may be saying now that, Judas was too callous. Consider the many acts of unbelief and blatant disobedience that you might have done. Every act of disobedience and stubbornness is a function of unbelief.

 Unbelief is also a product of an unconquered self.

 You should be a crucified(dead) man to be able to follow Jesus.

Gal 2:20 KJV” I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless, I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

 Death to self is the main stance that leads the child of God to overcome the devil. (Rev 12:11)

The blatant show of unbelief demonstrated by the children of Israel was a sign of a very high level of self-centeredness. Believing in the concept of the word is to accept something which one has not seen as real, yet because God’s word says so he accepts it as real. Thomas said, until I see the nail print in His hands, I will not believe. Jesus after correcting Thomas, said, blessed are those who have not seen yet they do believe (John 20:28). This is what many are not ready to do, and so they have become unbelieving believers.

 It therefore takes death to self to act in real faith.

Please note: it is not just hearing the word that builds faith, but a heart that is dead to self that would build faith when it hears.

You may do the following:

1. Accept you are crucified with Jesus.
2.  Take time to hear the word and meditate on the scriptures by accepting promises as personal prophecies from God to you.
3.  Speak out those prophecies to yourself always.
4.  Act on them believing they are already fulfilled

God’s word is the supreme principle or law that rules this world. Everything, in this life including finance, security, health, physical matter and what have you, are all subjected to the rule of God’s word.

 It is your submission to it which the bible calls faith that brings all of its conquering effect into your lives.

I will give the following illustration to explain my point.

I listened to the testimony of a lady. She travelled in a public transport called ” trotro” in Ghana, with other passengers from one part of town to another. She shared the gospel to her fellow passengers who sat around her. On their way, certain armed robbers stopped them and demanded everyone to get out of the bus. Every passenger frightfully got out. She reasoned that if I have been sharing the word with these people, I should demonstrate my faith in what I have been sharing. She refused to get down, but started praying in tongues. The robbers got to her and said are you not coming down, what do you think you are? They pointed the gun at her, pulled the trigger and nothing happened. They both tried their weapons and all failed to shoot. They instantly ran away.

 The word has power to protect, yet until you trust in it you will not experience that power.

Jesus said in Matt 4:4 that man should not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceed from the mouth of God.

 To live on the word is to cast your life on the word.

The lady in the story cast her life on the word and indeed she was protected. The word is Spirit and life.

The word is a person, and only requires your absolute trust to have it subject every other opposing power to its rule. Sicknesses arrogantly torments men, yet the word is ready to mesmerise sicknesses for us, if we would be prepared to submit to what it says. What is it in this life that makes a mess of men? Is it poverty, danger, robbery, what is it, the ruler of all principles in this life is the word? Mix the word with faith and you can have whatever it talks about. Hebrews 4:2 KJV” For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

Dear one, stop depending on your, senses reason, strength or the flesh of any kind. The flesh profits nothing. Place your total confidence in the word and you would have real meaning as well as reigning over the evil forces that is making humans unnecessarily miserable.

 MAN WAS CREATED AS THE KING OF GOD’S CREATION, he lost his kingship by depending on the flesh, IT IS GOING BACK TO THE WORD THAT WOULD ENTHRONE HIM AS THE KING OF CREATION AGAIN.

THOUGHT: SUBMISSION TO GOD’S WORD IS YOUR DISTANCE AWAY FROM YOUR KINGSHIP IN  THIS LIFE

Hebrews 4:12 KJV” For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

Our key scripture is one of the greatest revelations from the word of God. It tells us about the two main forces in this life.

These forces are the physical called the flesh, and the spiritual called the Spirit. It reveals also that, the spiritual rules over the physical. The physical is a product of the spiritual.

Heb 11:3 KJV” Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.”

 The fall of man was simply a departure from the influence of the Spirit that gives life, to be ruled and influenced by the physical, that is the flesh which produces death.

 Men in their blind state oppose the Spirit, and try to completely claim it is not necessary, only to be controlled by their senses.

The pain and the degradation in this life comes from this wrong choice. The scripture says, the physical or the flesh profits nothing. The ‘nothing’ it gives is revealed by the scripture as death. Rom 8:6 KJV “For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” How do we relate, contact or fellowship with the Spirit which makes and gives life? The answer from the scripture is through the word of God. The word of God is Spirit. The word is full of life. Nothing functions in the physical without it.

 The worse thing to do to yourself is to neglect the word of God.

It is a self-imposed destruction.

 The control of either the flesh or   the control of the word is a choice between death and life.

Deut 30:15 KJV” See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil;”

 Dear one refuse to be deceived with the world as they rebel against the word. Choose to be totally submitted to the word of God. Make it your greatest delight. Those who delight and meditate on it are like a tree planted by living waters. They yield their fruits in their season. Their leaves does not wither. Whatsoever they do will prosper. Psalms 1:2,3.

 Whenever you meditate on the scriptures it is actually a visit with God.

The word in your heart, is life in you, it is God in you and it is light in you. Doing the word is God in action through you. It is also life at work through you. The scripture says, to be given to the word makes you complete, and proficient, well fitted and thoroughly furnished unto every good work. 2 Tim 3:17 AMP.

Joshua 1:8 KJV “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.”

Psalms 119:105 KJV NUN. “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”

KEY SCRIPTURE Joh 6:62 KJV” What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?”

The Lord realised His disciples were murmuring when He talked about, they eating His flesh to have life. The Lord said, if this was offensive to them, then what would they say and do when they saw Him ascend into the heavens? Why would the ascension create a stir for the disciples? The ascension of Jesus is purely a supernatural and inexplainable but an event that explains lots of truths for the Christian to be firmly established in his faith. The following is Luke’s account in his second narrative of the acts of Jesus after His resurrection. Acts 1:9 KJV” And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.”

The following are some of the significance of ascension to the believer and unbeliever as well.

1. The ascension defies the scientific law of gravity and no man has died, resurrected and ascended into the heavens but Jesus.

2.The ascension reveals there is a heaven somewhere. Jesus was seen by about one hundred and twenty disciples, who were ready to testify of what they had seen, to the point of dying for their testimony. It meant, it really occurred. There is a heaven, which is the habitation of God the Father, the Holy angels and the spirits of our departed faithful Christians. Hebrews 6:20 KJV” Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.” We have a certain hope that makes us stand faithfully for the tenants of our faith, even in very trying moments, for our master and Lord has evidently entered into heaven.

His ascension into heaven also points to the fact that He would come back again. Acts 1:11 KJV” Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.” After the Lord had ascended into the heavens two men in white apparel stood in the midst of the bewildered disciples who were gazing into the heavens, and made the above statement to them. Jesus will come back and all men shall see him. This event is different from the rapture of the church. During the rapture, the Lord will appear in the skies and the Christians who are dead, will be raised whiles those who are alive will be changed in a moment and join the Lord in the skies.

His ascension tells everyman who has not given his life over to Jesus to be aware that just as there is a heaven for all true believers, there is a hell for anyone who would not accept the Lord Jesus. There is a sure place where the spirits of sinners are tormented, called hell. There would be a final judgement where, hell and all sinners would be cast into the lake of fire.

THOUGHT:  THE ASCENSION IS A FACT, AND LEAVES US AN UNDISPUTABLE HOPE FOR OUR FAITH

Rev 21:8 KJV” But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

KEY SCRIPTURE: John 6:60 KJV “Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it?”

Truth at certain occasions can be very difficult to take. A lady whose father-in-law had offended her, felt so bitter that, she was never ready to forgive him. She was later attacked by a strange illness that made her. body to swell up. A pastor was invited to pray for her. When the man of God came to her bedside, he asked her to forgive her father-in-law, and everything would be okay. This instruction was too difficult for her to accept. Her condition kept worsening till she could no longer stand it. She then decided to forgive him. Her condition then suddenly started  improving. It was a big problem accepting that instruction.

Jesus’ audience found it very difficult accepting the truth he was telling them. They could not bring themselves to accept that, they must eat the flesh of Jesus. They asked, who can accept these things? What makes certain truths of scripture, very difficult for some people to accept? In this particular case they did not understand what He meant. In Matthew 19:21, the Lord Jesus met a rich young ruler who came to Him asking about what to do to have eternal life. The Lord earlier asked him to obey the commandments, which he claimed, he has been observing since childhood. He then asked him to go sell all that He had, give it to the poor and come follow him. This man left very sad because he had lots of riches and was not prepared to lose them.

There are many of us who find it difficult to leave certain lifestyles to accept what the Lord may be saying to us. The things of God are always spiritual and they should be spiritually discerned. Carnality is the basic cause of not being able or ready to accept the word and ways of God.

1Corinth 2:14 KJV “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” Following Godly instructions is always the way to blessings and life Prov 4:13.

What to do to help yourself accept God’s word;

1. Accept that God’s way is always perfect.2 Tim 3:16,17

2. Refuse to be proud, for pride always makes you a loser James 4:6

3. When your interest comes against God’s way, choose God’s way. Luke 22:42

4. Trust always in the Lord, and lean not on your understanding Prov 3:5

5. Pray for an understanding heart.

The communion is a mystery and the truth about it should be given to the body of Christ. A member of our congregation invited her husband who has been struggling with alcoholism. This man after been led to Christ was given the opportunity to take part in the communion service. The power of drinking was effectively broken from Him. What would have happened if we had said, he is a drunkard and must be prevented from partaking of it.?

We continue with our previous teachings as taught by the scriptures concerning unworthiness in taking the communion.

In our passage of scripture Apostle Paul shows what the people were really doing that made them to be taking it in an unworthy manner.

1Corinth 11:33 ,34 KJV “Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together to eat, tarry one for another. And if any man hunger, let him eat at home; that ye come not together unto condemnation. And the rest will I set in order when I come.” From the evidence of this preceding scripture, we see that when they came together to partake of the communion, they were not waiting for the rest who had not come. He added, if any man hunger let him eat at home, meaning they ate the communion as a normal food to satisfy their hunger. They were treating the communion as any ordinary meal. They did not discern it as the body and blood of Jesus. This is what brought damnation to many of them.

As a result of this many of them were weak, sick and some fell asleep or died. This implies there’s so much power that if you treat it lightly, it can make you sick, weak or even die. It also means that it is also very powerful to make you STRONG, HEALTHY, OR HEAL YOU, AND KEEP YOU FROM DYING BEFORE COMPLETING YOUR TASK FOR THE LORD.

It is in the light of the above explanations and insight that the truth and the power of God through the communion be taught to the body of Christ. The Children of God must be made to understand that if they are to take it discerning the body and blood of Jesus, the power of sicknesses, weaknesses and untimely deaths. would be broken from their lives. All kinds of traditional barriers placed to prevent most children of God from taking the communion must stopped. When people get to know the truth and the power of God through the communion, they would stop their unholy lifestyle, giving reverence to the God who healed them

THOUGHT:  THE COMMUNION IS A SUPERNATURAL DYNAMITE YO BLAST OFF THE WORKS OF SATAN IN YOUR LIFE

1Corinth 11:29 KJV” For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.”

John 6:57 KJV” As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.”

KEY SCRIPTURE: Joh 6:51 KJV “I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live forever: and the bread that will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world”.

In our previous study we learnt that, the communion, means to fellowship, participate, associate and intercourse.

 To have communion with the body and blood of Jesus, means to fellowship, or to associate with the blood and body of Jesus.

It simply means becoming one with the body and blood of Jesus. The implication of this is enormous. How on earth will you want stay away from participating?

Let’s get into the biblical teachings on this subject and help ourselves with what the bible says. The laws of biblical interpretation say for proper interpretation of scripture we must always keep faith with the meaning of the context. That is do not bring an idea that does not agree with the context of the passage. Our passage for discussion is 1 Corinth 11:23-34. We would first consider the issue of the frequency of having this ordinance. Some say it should be done, only once in the year, whiles others claim it should be held once in a month, and there are many like the Roman Catholic Church which observes it every day. The scripture is, 1Corinth 11:26 KJV ” For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come “. In this scripture the bible says as often as it is taken. This gives an open time span for its observance.

We now consider the issue of unworthy eating that brings damnation on to the individual.

The scriptures for consideration are as follows 1Corinth 11:27, 28 KJV ” Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup”.

 The scripture says he must examine himself AND THEN EAT. If it was about unworthiness of the person, then when he examines himself and finds himself not worthy, he must stay away. The word said after examining himself he must eat. The examination was to correct his approach and not to disqualify him.

The bible said whosoever shall drink or eat unworthily. The bible did not say, whosoever is unworthy that eats. The unworthiness comes from the way the individual takes it, and not the individual who is unworthy. This clearly shows he meant the attitude with which the person approaches the communion and not how unworthy he or she is.  This is clearly stated in the following verse.1Co 11:29 KJV For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.  The scripture says the one who eats unworthily, HOW? He does not discern the LORD’S BODY AND BLOOD. This word ‘discern’ is the Greek word  ‘diakrino’, which means to distinguish, or separate  or judge. That means they do not acknowledge the bread and wine as Holy body and blood of Jesus, invested with the same power in the living Christ.

(Note, I am not in any way encouraging sinful lifestyle, I only want to be truthful to God’s own revelation)

If one approaches the communion as ordinary bread and wine, He is making the blood and body of Jesus as something common and so eats to his or her own damnation. IF HE SHOULD SEPERATE IT FROM OTHER FOODS AND SEES IT AS HOLY BODY AND BLOOD OF JESUS, then the life and power in the blood will flow to him.

Dear ministers, pastors, or heads of ministries please objectively consider these things and help your congregation from lots of weaknesses, diseases and satanic power. To be continued.

1Corinth 10:21 KJV “Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table, and of the table of devils.”

KEY SCRIPTURE: John 6:51 KJV” I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live forever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world”.

The Lord kept iterating that He is that living bread who came down from heaven. He added that, the bread He would give is His flesh. The Lord was in effect saying that He would be crucified and die for the world, so that anyone who would believe in Him would have life. This preceding explanation is the literal meaning of the statement He said about the bread being His flesh. Inspite of this interpretation, at the last supper with His disciples, the Lord took the bread, broke it and said, ‘This is my body which is broken for you’. When supper was ended, He took a cup and said, Take and drink all of it for this is my blood of the New Testament, Matthew 26:26-27. As much as He expected all men to believe in Him, He likewise expect all Christians to partake of the communion.

The Lord Jesus knowing the great importance of this ordinance to all Christians, after His resurrection and ascension to heaven, had to instruct apostle Paul to tell all Christians to be observing it. (1 Corinth 11:23). Just listen to what the Lord said about taking His flesh. John 6:56 KJV” He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.” The Lord expect every one of His children to partake of His body. Unfortunately, the kind of teachings most denominations give, keep Christians away from partaking.

I have, by the grace of God seen amazing miracles through the observance of the ordinance of the communion. We have seen ovarian cysts dissolved, lots of people with low hemoglobin levels rise to normal levels, hepatitis destroyed, moving objects in the stomach just vanish, itching bodies stopped, ulcers humiliated, vaccine complications stopped, and many more. Some of these people were very apprehensive at taking the communion, because of previous teaching they have been given, but as the scriptures were objectively looked at, they took it and were wonderfully healed.

What is the meaning of the word communion? It is from the Greek word “koinonia” and has the following meanings fellowship, association, partnership, participation, intercourse. In 1 Corinth 10:16 the bible says, ” The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?” The scripture says when the wine is blessed, it becomes the communion or the fellowship with the blood of Jesus. The bread is also the communion or fellowship, participation with the body of Jesus. Partaking of the communion makes the person one with the body and blood of Jesus. To be continued.

John 6:54 KJV” Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”

KEY SCRIPTURE: John 6:50 KJV” This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.”

In this study of a walk with Jesus through the gospel, the Lord kept emphasising the fact that He is the bread that came down from heaven. He added that any man who eats of this bread shall not die. He is the Living bread that gives life to the world. The challenge that men find themselves is spiritual death, which has engulfed everyone born into this world. Romans 5:12 KJV “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so, death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned”: This death is spiritual death. Death according to the bible is not just the censure of life but a separation between two things. A physical death is the separation between spirit of the man and the body, James 2:26, whiles a spiritual death is the separation of the Spirit of God from the Spirit of man. The absence of the Spirit of God in man is the reason for the complete failure of the human being

This kind of death makes man a slave to almost everything that was created. Men have become walking prisoners.

1.Men are slaves to their own appetites.

2.Men are slaves to their anger and temper

3 Men are slaves to drinks, drugs and sex

 4.Men are slaves to all kinds of foolish actions.

Why would a man have sex with a dog? Why would a man device evil schemes to kill his fellow man. Eph 4:18 KJV” Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart :” Sad, but there is a way out.

It is in the light of the reign of death over man that our Lord Jesus gives His life. He gave His life that man will be alive unto God and begin to relate to himself and his fellow human beings as humans. The life of Jesus in man gives man power over devils and liberates men from all the slavery that has engulfed men. Men can now have dominion over creation and live as really free beings. Most men are not at peace with themselves, The presence of the life of God in man brings real peace to all those who partake of this bread from heaven.

Rom 5:18 KJV “Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.”

KEY SCRIPTURE: John 6:47 KJV” Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.”

The above key scripture is very profound, and has a lot to teach us. The general principle of this verse reveals that, believe means receiving, and therefore he that believes has what he has believed. It matters a lot what you believe. As I said believing means to receive. The meaning of the word ‘receive’ in the Greek language is ‘ to take a hold of something’. The word in Greek is ‘LAMBANO’. If you believe you are a success for life, then you have received the ability to be successful. This would then influence your actions. When you believe in a negative situation, then you have that thing. Be careful what you believe. To be afraid means to believe in a condition you don’t want to happen. The persistence of the fear means, that condition is already living with you. To be free from it, you must stop being afraid and to rejoice in God’s protection.

The Lord said those who believe in Him has everlasting life. This point clears the air on those who claim works for salvation. In Matt 19:16-25 a rich young man came to Jesus’ inquiring about WHAT GOOD THING TO DO, to have eternal life. The Lord asked him to obey all the commandments and would have eternal life. The man said he has been obeying every one of them since his youthful ages. The Lord then asked him to go sell all that He had and come follow him. This man could not accept that instruction, and so left very sad. (If obeying the commandments earn eternal life, the Lord would have just said, okay) Jesus disciples then asked, how can anyone be saved or have eternal life then? The Lord answered from Matt 19:26 in the following way ” But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.” In the above incidence the Lord established that, it is not good works that saves a man. It is also impossible through a man’s effort to have eternal  life.

Our key scripture shows us that the only way to have eternal life is to believe in Jesus. He said in John 6:48, that He is the bread of life. As the bread of life, He is the only one who truly satisfies. Religion talks about meeting certain righteous requirements to be saved. The Lord has shown in our earlier illustration that no good works of any man can win him eternal life.

 It is the presence of eternal life in a man that produces the true good works.

Dear one we are not talking about meeting some righteous code. We are dealing with eternal life, and it takes the one who has it to give it to you. 1Jn 5:11 KJV ” And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.” Since Jesus is the only one with eternal life, then stop the search and come to Him today. Believe on Him and you shall find rest for your soul.

THOUGHT:  NO AMOUNT OF GOOD WORKS CAN EARN ETERNAL LIFE; IT IS ONLY JESUS WHO HAS IT AND GIVES IT TO YOU.
