THE PATH OF THE JUST

KEY SCRIPTURE: Prov 4:18 KJV” But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.”

Who is the just? The just are those who live by trusting God. Heb 10:38 KJV Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draws back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. The just also means, those whose ways please the Lord, since they live by faith according to Heb 11:6. The just also have righteousness being imputed on their account. Romans 4:3 KJV” For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.”

From the above, we learn that the Just walk in the ways or according to the word of God. They take time to learn from God’s word 2 Tim 2:15 KJV” Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” He is not put to shame because, through study or diligence he has come to know the right ways of life, and therefore treads thereby. He has a lamp unto his feet and a light unto his path. He does not stumble, for He is like the man whom Jesus said walks in the day, and so has the light of the day. John 11:9 KJV” Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walks in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world.”

Our key scripture says His way, is like the shining light, that keeps shining unto the perfect day.

The path of the just is the way of rest. He does not fret about what happens around Him. This man constantly celebrates the Lord for His victories which is his victory as well. The just has a continuous stream of victory.

The Bible is full of characters who tread on the path of the just. One such man was King David. He wrote the Lord is my shepherd, and so I shall not want.  He added, thou I walk through the valley of the shadows of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. King David lived His life in the presence of God and kept shining till he left the earth scene.

Dear one, you can also participate in this life of victory, joy uprightness, and a path of shining always. CHOOSE TO PLACE GOD’S WORD FIRST ALWAYS

CONFESSION

I live and walk on the path of the just. My life is simply based and dependent on the infallible word of God. He keeps me winning daily until that perfect day when we Shall meet in glory.

QUALIFICATION TO BE A DISCIPLE

KEY SCRIPTURE: Luke 14:26 KJV If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.

In our key scripture, the Lord laid bare His qualification terms for one to be called a disciple. He says you will not be part of Him if you do not adhere to what He presented. He said to be His disciple, you must hate your father, mother, wife or husband, children, siblings, and your very life.  The Lord added that His disciples must take up their cross and follow Him. Your cross is not anything He has redeemed us from like our sins, sicknesses, or poverty, but anything that has to do with choosing His way as against choosing our way. It means His must come first always

The Lord does not just make empty demands, but whatever He tells us comes from His love for us as well as His wisdom that surpasses all things. The Christian life is purely a spiritual life that could not be led by any man in his natural capacity as a man. Plucking your heart from every other thing to love the Master gives Him the right to live His life through us. In Matt. 10:40 the Lord added that when a man has fulfilled the demand to love Him above all other things, He said in verse 40 “He that receiveth you receiveth me and he that receiveth me receiveth the one who sent me”

What is the meaning of this statement?

It means the child of God who accepts to love the Lord above himself and every other thing has entered into a covenant relationship with Him.

Remember, he loved us above Himself to die for us and we must also love Him above ourselves to complete that covenant pact of really becoming one with Him.

When we believe in Him, we are one with Him, yet it becomes practical and experiential when we also love Him above ourselves. This cements our relationship with Him and we will be ready to trust Him under any condition. Until this is done, He can’t stand for you because you have not crossed the death line. Please note I don’t mean dying physically, but rather dying in your heart and mind to yourself, your family, and the world. It is only by your death that you truly live for Him, and you  can also  partake of Him and everything that belongs to Him.

CONFESSION:

Dear Lord Jesus, I accept to love you above myself, my relations, and my interests and also to carry my cross every day of my life. Thank you, Lord, for bringing me unto a solid covenant pact with you.

THOUGHT: YOU CAN NOT TRULY LIVE FOR CHRIST, IF YOU DO NOT DIE FOR HIM FIRST.

HUMAN TRADITIONS

KEY SCRIPTURE: Mark 7:13 KJV Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.

Traditions are acceptable practices of people that are passed from one generation to the other. Humans easily get hooked up to their traditions such that it can easily prevent them from enjoying or experiencing the power of God. The Lord stated clearly to the Jews that, they are woefully deprived of the power of the word of God through their traditions. Most Christians are unconsciously entangled in certain traditions that sadly deprive them of the blessings of God.

I would go through a few of them. It is a common thing to hear Christians who are anticipating the goodness of God to bring certain answers, say things like, I believe God will answer me someday or I believe God will surely heal me.  Such brethren claim they have great faith in their hearts. Unfortunately, they are often disappointed and they wonder why? These people have accepted teachings which are not the truth. It is a human tradition, not a biblical truth. The Lord taught that; Jesus has already healed them, and must accept that they are already healed, and not to be healed in the future. Such people are deprived of the power of God because of the tradition of hoping to be healed, instead of accepting now that they have what they expect. This is the truth of scripture

Now what the truth teaches about this error is that faith in God is now. Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. It is a present-hour assurance that what, I hope to have in the future is present with me. How is it with me? It is up to me to believe that, I have the answers now. It may not be physically with me, yet biblical faith takes hold of the answer and even rejoices that I have it. Anyone who functions this way has escaped the unfortunate deception of the common tradition, that says, I know God will do it someday.

The foundation of most of these traditions is wrong biblical interpretations, that make people think they are functioning in the truth, yet are woefully defeated. Traditions become entrenched because, they are often taught or practiced by those, people who command a pedigree of respect and influence. Their actions and teachings are accepted without a second look at the bible critically.

PRAYER

Dear heavenly Father thank you for your love and the truth of your word. I pray for all children of God to be diligent in studying your word, and also be careful in accepting all kinds of teachings, and practices, without cross-checking with what your word teaches.

HE CAME TO RAISE A FAMILY, NOT A RELIGION

KEY SCRIPTURE; Rom 8:29 KJV “For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.”

Religion is unfortunately the greatest confusion of human practice. Religion involves spiritually dead men and women, who are struggling to be upright and also to catch the eye of God’s approval. Religion breeds self-righteous men and women, who see people of the other side, as evil, unfit, and must be destroyed. Religion has created enemies among men.

Our Lord Jesus did not come to create another religious organization. He came to impart His life to as many who would accept Him, so they would be like Him. John 1:12 KJV” But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:” Please note the bible did not talk about followers, but they who accepted Him, became sons of God, like Himself. Our key scripture also states that, those, He did foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His first son. Jesus became the firstborn among many brethren. We are one with Him.

We are not spiritually dead, but have received eternal life just as He has. We are partakers of His grace and the gift of righteousness, and so we are free from any self-righteousness. We do not judge and condemn anybody, yet in love we show all those who have not accepted the Lord, the great love He has demonstrated to save them. We do not fight those who hold divergent views. We do not kill anybody in order to be honoured before our father. He, Jesus said, greater love has no man than, this that a man should lay his life for his friends. In the Jesus family we love all men.

Dear one, are you practicing the Christian religion? In the Christian religion, people of different opinions are seen as enemies. Christian religion creates self-righteous men and women, who condemn and judge others. These people struggle to be righteous, because they are sinners who are seeking to be righteous. This is most unfortunate. Christians are not sinners. They are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, 2nd Corinth 5:21. God has given birth to us, and so we are one with Jesus.

Dearly beloved stop practicing religion and receive life, the very life of God, so you would become one with Jesus.

CONFESSION

Thank you, heavenly Father, for giving Jesus to die for me. I surrender my life to Him. I accept to be part of the Jesus Family.

OVERCOMING TEMPTATION

KEY SCRIPTURE: Heb 4:15 KJV “For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.”

The Lord Jesus was absolutely victorious in all He did. Our key scripture says He was tempted at various points yet He was without sin. In St Matthew narration about Him, he talked about His temptation in the wilderness, immediately after being baptised and subsequently filled with the Holy Spirit. The bible said, He was led into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil Matt 4:1. In this time of temptation He fasted. The reading suggests He fasted in order to overcome the temptation. The other view is that whiles He fasted the tempter also did His job.

In all, there were three major temptations. Mark 1:13 also suggests He was there with wild beasts. All these added up to the temptations. The wild beasts could have stirred up fear, yet the Lord will have none of that. Fear had no place in Him.

What is the essence of temptations. The tempter seeks to make the child of God to break faith with God. One’s ability to overcome the temptation, strengthens His commitment, and knowledge of the Lord. According to James 1:2-4 temptations make us perfect and want nothing, only if we overcome.

The temptations of the Lord were in three categories.

1. To satisfy the appetite of the flesh, without waiting for the appropriate occasion. He was hungry, and so must use His power to make stone to become bread to satisfy that hunger.

This would mean, He becomes a slave of His appetite.

Today’s great failure of our institutions and world is because men are slaves of their appetite, and they would do anything to satisfy that appetite. It could be sex, drink, food or what have you?

2. Once again he the devil challenges His sonship. He played on His pride. He then asked Him to throw Himself down so the angels would save Him. Satan suggested to him to abuse power again, but justifies His trick with a scriptural quotation. Please the fact that one quotes the scriptures does not mean he or she is right. The Lord saw his error and then gave him the right scripture. Have a good understanding of the scriptures, so you would not be deceived.

3. Lastly, he tempted Him with an offer of reigning over the kingdoms of the earth, and so demanded that Jesus worship Him. He tricked Him this time too, by telling Jesus all the kingdoms were his, and must worship Him. Worshipping Him means Jesus had submitted His superior authority into His hands. The Lord refused, and declared that only God must be worshipped.

How did the Lord overcome all these?

Jesus had decided to please and honour His Father before His personal considerations. Failure always results from placing our own interests before God’s word. The Lord then used the word to stop the devil.

CONFESSIONS

Father, you are highly exalted, I live to honour you. My interest only leads to failure. It is in pleasing you that I win over the tricks and strategies of the wicked one. I will always seek your glory and honour.

WHAT MOVES GOD MOST

KEY SCRIPTURE: Heb 11:6 KJV” But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”

In this series of studies, we are looking at the various aspects of the personality of Jesus, His priorities, and his general philosophies on life. The Lord led the most successful life since He did everything to please the Father. He remains the best example for anyone to follow. During His days on earth, He showed us what moves God the most. He said faith in God moves God into action. Our key scripture shows us that without faith, it is impossible to please or attract God. The Lord Jesus was always moved with excitement when He encountered anyone who expressed faith in God, or Him. In Matt 8:9 when the centurion who sent for Jesus to come to heal his servant, sent to tell Jesus that, he was not fitting to have Jesus under his roof, but the Lord should only say the word and his servant would be healed. The Lord was amazed at that answer. He quickly asked them to go for the servant was healed.

Why is faith in God so important to Him?

God is a Spirit. Faith is operated through the heart, where the spirit of man is Faith is also an act of the spirit. God can only be encountered not in the senses or reason but through the spirit. Believing God also declares that God is just or righteous. God subsequently justifies he who believes in Him. Rom 10:10 KJV “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.” We believe with the heart and so are justified or made righteous. The Bible is such an amazing book because it is a compilation of the exploits of people of faith.

Believing God’s word is of great importance to us. Jesus described little children as the kind of people who have easy access to heaven and the Father as well. Children are very receptive and easily yield. This is what faith in God is all about. It is a total surrender unto God. Faith is casting your life on the faithfulness of God.

Faith in God is not a mental issue yet it begins with a decision to let the heart yield to what the word says. It grows by yielding to the word of God. Faith also grows through meditation on the word. Finally, our faith gets more robust through practicing the word.

Matt 7:24 KJV” Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:”

Just consider this scripture. Heb 11:33 KJV” Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, He Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.”

CONFESSION

Thank you, heavenly Father, for the gift of faith. Faith is not an initiative of us men, rather it comes from you, God by your faith in us we overcome every onslaught of the devil.

THE WORDS OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST

KEY SCRIPTURE: John 14:6 “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me”.

Our key scripture implies that Jesus is the only way to God. To say that I am the way means other ways lead elsewhere. Why is this so?

There is a big difference in the functioning of Christianity as compared to or related to other faiths. All the other faiths, function by laws, codes of conduct, and practices that the practitioners go through to please the Supreme Being. The new age teaching revolves everything around man. They teach that man has inherent powers that could make him achieve all things by himself. This particular kind of faith does not have a specific supreme being.

In Christianity, God has come to live in men through our Lord Jesus Christ. (Revelation 3:20, 1st Corinthians 3:16). The Christian does not live by his natural life, but the Spirit of Jesus lives through his flesh. Galatians 2:20” I am crucified with Christ nevertheless I live, yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me”. It is only in Christianity that God relates with His subjects as children. God becomes our Father. The relationship we have with Him becomes inseparable.  This is very different from what all other religions practice.

In Christianity, we are not followers who are trying to be acceptable as we have in most of the religions. We become one with Christ. 1st Corinthians 6:17 “He that is joined unto the Lord is one Spirit”.  John 15:1-8 gives a metaphorical representation of it. It says Jesus is the true vine, the Father is the husbandman, and we are the branches. The branches and the vine share the same life. Christianity is a mysterious relationship between the Christian and Christ. Ephesians 5:30 “For we are members of His body of His flesh and of His bones”.

All these have come to pass because of what Jesus came to do. He is the only way to God.

   CONFESSION

Religion is a man seeking God by finding ways to please Him. Christianity brings men into oneness with God who lives in us and works through us. His laws are fulfilled in me, so it is my nature to live to please Him.

THOUGHT: IÑ CHRIST, THE WAYS OF GOD ARE FULFILLED IN US

FURTHER STUDIES.

Philippians 2:13 “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.”

Romans 8:3-4 ” For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit”.

OUR ONENESS WITH JESUS 2

KEY SCRIPTURE: Acts 9:5 KJV “And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.”

In our last study, we realised from the above key scripture that the Christian is mysteriously united to our Lord Jesus Christ.  Jesus stated clearly that Paul was attacking Him, although practically he was persecuting the Christians. Every child of God needs to get the full implication of that revelation. Galatians 3:27 states it like this Gal 3:27 KJV “For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.”. The day you accepted the Lordship of Jesus over your life and believed that God raised Him, from the grave after His death, you were baptised or immersed into Christ. Rom 6:3. The scripture in Gal 3:27 says through that act you have put on Christ like a man wears a garment.

On the flip side, we have not only put Him on, He is also living in us. Col 1:27 KJV “To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:” Now He is in us and He is all around us or we are in Him. What does God seek to achieve by this? He seeks a complete takeover of our lives by Jesus. We, therefore, throw away our consciousness of our weak, defeated, sinful self to assume the superior, victorious, all-conquering Christ personality as the very one functioning on this earth in our name. From this position we are not the weak ones, always praying to be strong, we are strong in Him, and should not accept any thoughts of weakness. Remember the scripture advised us to be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.  The power of His might is the fulness of His power, including the totality of angels at our disposal. We should not in one moment feel vulnerable under the threat of Satan’s power.

The acknowledgment of our oneness with Jesus also means we stand in the place of authority, victory, and security of Jesus. The scripture uses the term, COMPLETE in Him, who is the Head of all principality and power.  This is the reason when the bible spoke of our wrestle against supernatural forces of evil, the Scripture kept using the word STAND. Our position is the very state of our Lord Jesus. He is never down. We are also never down. No matter what seems to be going on physically, never think you are being defeated. Our oneness with Jesus makes us partake of His victory.

There is this term that most Christians use quite often. The word breakthrough. To breakthrough suggests you were down, defeated, and through some means you have broken free from that state, or limiting position. In the natural that is what it seems. This word is a little bit problematic because it places the Christian in the mental frame that is not true of who He is and gives Satan, or his devils an advantage over Him. Our master Jesus broke through when he rose from the grave. Rom 6:9 KJV “Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him”. If we are one with Him, then we broke through with Him. If this does not show in the physical, you do not accept a defeated mentality trying to succeed, but maintain your victory in Christ mentality and rather, RESIST the enemy who seeks to get you defeated. WE FIGHT FROM VICTORY TO VICTORY; NOT DEFEAT TO VICTORY.

Before the contest, we are already victorious.

CONFESSION

Thank you, Lord Jesus, for your victory over death, Satan, sin, and sicknesses. I am one with you and so I am victorious over death, sin, sicknesses, and Satan, Hallelujah. No matter what I face, or see in the natural I am never defeated. None of these things will ever reign over me. It is Jesus ruling over me. He is the Lord of my life, never the devil or anything of his. AMEN

THOUGHT; A VICTORIOUS MIND, MAKES WINNING EASIER

ONENESS WITH JESUS.

KEY SCRIPTURE: Acts 9:5 KJV “And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.”

Apostle Paul who was formally Saul of Tarsus had received an authoritative note from the high priest, to arrest the Christians and persecute them. The Lord met Him on his way to Damascus. The Lord answered a question Paul asked as follows, Acts 9:5 KJV And he said, Who art thou, Lord? “And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.” Paul wanted to know the one who had intercepted him. Our Lord Jesus has been similarly encountering many, in our present moments. If you do not know Him as Lord, please do not wait further, turn your life over to Him, today Jesus is still saving lives.

In the Lord’s answer to Paul, He revealed something very remarkable. He said, to him,” I am Jesus whom you are persecuting”. Paul was attacking the Christians, yet, the master said, he was the one they were persecuting. This reveals that we are one with Jesus.

The Christian is not just a follower of Jesus but mysteriously united with Him.

Galatians 2:20 states, we have been crucified with Jesus, yet we live, but not us. The life we are living in the flesh, we live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved us and gave Himself for us. He is living in us and functioning through us. We have His perfect abilities right within us. May the eyes of all Christians be opened to understand that, we are to carry out the very things He would have done if He was around.

Dear child of God, do everything with the knowledge that, it is Christ Himself actively doing that thing, or saying those words through you. In light of this, give no place to any word about your neighbour that would break him or her down. Rather give out words that would build up. Make love for all, your hallmarks.  Believe you are a storehouse of authority and power. Take your place, and act for Jesus. Touch the sick as He would do, and they would be healed. Take authority over demonic situations like Jesus would do, and the devils would flee. He is in you to continue with His works, just as when He was on earth.

CONFESSION

Thank you, Lord Jesus, for choosing to be one with us. Thank for you your presence in us. Your presence in me overcomes all the works of the evil one. There is no task, that is too great for me to do. I have your love at work in me. Thank you, Lord, for choosing to be one with me.

A MAN SENT FROM GOD

KEY SCRIPTURE Joh 1:6 KJV “There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.”

When John the Baptist, was asked by the priests, the Jewish leaders sent to enquire of who he was, he said he was the voice of one crying in the wilderness; make a straight path for the Lord (John 1:23). In effect he admitted that, he had been sent on an assignment. Men are always God’s means of achieving His purposes on earth.

Every man saved by the blood of Jesus is also a man or woman sent from God.

You have a mandate to execute a particular task. We are all generally commissioned to go and make disciples of all nations. (Matt 28:19 &20)

The sad truth is that many Christians have a misunderstanding of the task given to us. The church to some is a place of entertainment, where they go to listen to music and dance. Others consider the church as a place with a superman in charge, whose prayers are very powerful to help them come out of their problems. They do not consider or accept that they are people sent from God to save men.

Dear brother or sister you have been sent from God. Don’t lose sight of your task. You would one day be required to give an account of what you did about what God asked you to do. (2 Corinth 5:10)

A story making runs on social media, is about a young boy who was SENT by his father to go, and buy some food from a restaurant for Him. This boy bought the food alright, but when returning home, he came across some boys playing football. His friends asked him to join to play the game. Without hesitating he left the food with some boys and joined to play the game. He played very well and was hailed by all who watched the game. The game ended only to find out that his father’s food had been eaten. He was faced with the real challenge of going back home to face the anger and disappointment of his father. He cried and dreaded going home. Dear one, one day the game that has taken you from your assignment that God gave you, would be over, and you would go home to meet your father, who SENT you. Would you joyfully meet your father or you would be filled with fear.?
