THE GRACE OF GOD.

KEY SCRIPTURE: Ephesians 2:8-9 ” For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

In contrast to the mercy of God being revealed to all creation the grace of God is a perfection of divine character which is not shown to the whole of creation but by God’s sovereign will he manifests His grace to those He so desires. (Please get this understanding, the grace of God comes upon a person or a group of people, to do or achieve a particular task)

Grace is a goodwill, love, and salvation unto His people. It is also the supernatural work of the Spirit of God in the life of a man. The Lord reminded the Israelites that He did not set His love upon them, because they were more in number than any other people……” He said it was because of the oath He made to their forefathers: The question is, did Abraham deserve to be chosen? God called him and was gracious to him purely on His own sovereign will.

Abraham did not merit that favour anyway. God’s grace has been shown throughout the scripture that it is never based on the merit of the benefactors but purely on God’s sovereign will to be gracious to such people or individuals.

The grace of God cannot be bought or earned. In Acts 8:20 Peter said to Simon “Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God (grace) may be purchased with money”. Grace is only grace when the recipient has no claim upon it. Many of us children of God and especially ministers of the gospel who boast about our gifts, don’t have the proper understanding of the grace of God. Nothing you did brought it to you. It is not your holiness, prayer, or any effort of yours that qualified you for the grace of God. The apostle Paul wrote by the inspiration of the spirit.

“Not that we are sufficient of ourselves, to think anything as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God:” The abilities we have are of God and must be acknowledged in that light. God must continually receive the praise. He says also in 1st Corinthians 15:10b. “……but I laboured more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.”

Beloved the grace of God remains God’s sole prerogative to give to whomsoever He chooses, yet note, IT MUST BE RECEIVED BY FAITH to be effectual in our lives. (Ephesians 2:8).

  PRAYER

Thank you, heavenly Father, for your grace upon my life. I did not merit it in any way, yet in your wisdom and sovereignty, you gave it to me. Thank you, Lord, in the name of Jesus I have prayed.

MEDITATE ON THE WRATH OF GOD.

KEY SCRIPTURE: Psalms 119:48 ” My hands also will I lift up unto thy commandments, which I have loved; and I will meditate in thy statutes.”

God’s statutes are decrees, ordinances or testimonies He’s made about Himself, or He has instructed us to obey. One of such statutes is His revelation or declaration about His dislike for sin. Please read what He says about the wicked “Upon the wicked He shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup” (Psalm 11:6).

God’s wrath, as we have discussed earlier, is a perfection of His divine character, and we must take time to meditate on it. This will help our hearts to appreciate God’s detestation for sin. Sin is deceitful and can subtly take over one’s heart without a personal awareness of it. When the heart is appreciative of God’s dislike for sin, the heart would instinctively reject sin, whether it comes subtly or consciously. Like a canoe which has not been anchored, may drift away, so with a heart that has not been imbedded deeply in God’s righteous demands may not stick to his or her grounds for uprightness, Meditation on God’s wrath is a key.

Meditating on God’s wrath would also give birth to a true fear of God in our souls or hearts. Many acts of foolishness on the part of some Christians proceed from hearts that have not come to terms with the dreadfulness of God. “Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men. But we are made manifest unto God…….” (2nd Corinthians 5:11). The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Hebrews 12:28-29 reminds us, “Let us have grace whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear, for our God is a consuming fire.” There can’t be any acceptable service of our Father if there is no reverence for the glorious Majesty and godly fear of His righteous anger.

How does one meditate on the wrath of God. Go to some scriptures that talk about the wrath and then ponder over it. You may also repeat the scriptures over and over again to yourself, such that the truth gets deeply planted in your heart.

  CONFESSION

It is a good thing to deeply reverence the Lord. I take time to think over God’s wrath frequently and always do the instructions of the word.

INSTANCES OF GOD’S WRATH.

KEY SCRIPTURE: Romans 2:8-9 “But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,

Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;”

God is no respecter of persons. Acts 10:34. The bible is replete with a number of instances of God’s wrath against the unrighteousness and the ungodliness of men.

Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed because of its sin. The practice of homosexuality and lesbianism and their subsequent refusal to repent. Genesis 19:24 ” Then the Lord rained upon Sodom and Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the Lord out of heaven.

Achan coveted the accursed things that was not to be touched and therefore He was stoned with his family. Joshua 7:25 “And Joshua said, why hast thou troubled us? The Lord shall troubled thee this day. And all Israel stoned him with stones and burned them with fire, after they had stoned them with stones’.

David committed adultery with the wife of Uriah and murdered Him as well. 2nd Samuel 12:10 ” Now therefore the sword shall never depart from thine house; because thou hast despised me, and hast taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be thy wife”. Beloved, no one must allow his status to cause him to play down on God’s word. God is no respecter of persons. David was a man after God’s heart yet when he messed up with God’s word, he attracted God’s anger and fury. NOTE: EVERY MAN IS A MAN.

I wish to clarify the error creeping into the church concerning the grace of God in relation to the wrath of God. Some say because of the grace of God, God would overlook every wrong they commit. To stand in grace means, having a higher power that makes you live above sin: Forgiveness of sin is an act of God’s grace, yet when you keep living in sin ,you are refusing the grace of God. This is what attracts God’s wrath. Some Christians frustrate the grace of God. Galatians 2:21 ” I do not frustrate the grace of God…”God’s wrath comes on all those who frustrate the grace of God.

Ananias and Sapphira died by attempting to deceive the church of God. Acts 5:5 ” And Ananias hearing these words fell down and gave up the ghost; and great fear came on all them that heard these things”.

The brethren who do not discern the blood and body of Christ during communion services. 1st Corinthians 11:30 “For this cause many are weak and sickly among you and many are dead”.

Beloved, God would never tolerate sin. Turn. away less His wrath comes upon you.

CONFESSION

One of the reasons God made His grace available is make men live above sin. I always take advantage of God’s grace to live above sin.

THOUGHT: EVERY MAN IS A MAN BEFORE GOD.YOUR STATUS WILL ONLY BE SPECIAL IF, YOU FEARFULLY HONOUR GOD

Pls Consider the following questions:

1. What does it mean to say that God is no respecter of persons Acts 10:34

2. What do you understand by the statement, every man is a man?

3. What is the relationship between the grace of God, and the wrath of God.?

4. How do people frustrate the grace of God?

THE WRATH OF GOD

KEY SCRIPTURE: Deuteronomy 4:24 ” For the LORD thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God.”

The wrath of God is a topic most people do not wish to talk about. Some wished it was not part of the bible. Some Christians believe it is not consistent with the goodness of God.

The wrath of God is a function of the Holiness of God. The wrath of God indeed is very consistent with God’s goodness. God’s wrath is simply His anger and judgment against sin. Sin has brought God’s creation, which He described as “…very good”(Gen.1:31) into total decay. Is the surgeon wicked when he removes the tumor from the brain or any part of the body?

God’s anger and hatred for sin make him judge the sinner who would not repent and turn away from his or her sin. Psalms 7:11 “God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day.”

The absence of wrath against sin would have made God imperfect. Note this, indifference to sin is a moral blemish.

Can you imagine this perfect and holy God disregarding sin and refusing to show any anger or severity for sin.? (Rom 11:22). Notice how God is both kind and severe. He is very hard on those who disobey, but very good to you if you continue to love and trust him. But if you don’t, you too will be cut off.

God’s wrath is an eternal dislike and anger against all unrighteousness. On the cross, after Jesus had suffered so much, He shouted, My God My God, Why has thou forsaken me.? (Matt 27:46) What was happening here? Our Lord Jesus had borne the sins of all men. He had become SIN. The father, for the first time, turned away from the son. This is the consummation of God’s wrath.

Do not confuse the grace of God, with the wrath of God. The grace of God is God’s divine provisions for

man to excel, so that man will not be dominated by sin. (Rom 6:14)

God’s wrath comes into action when man refuses God’s grace and allows sin to dominate him. Romans 1:18 “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;”

Dear child of God, submit to the provisions of God’s word, so you would be exempted from His wrath.

CONFESSION

God’s wrath is against all unrighteousness of men, with no exemptions. I allow the word to prevail over my life, so I do not come under God’s wrath.

THE OMNIPRESENCE OF GOD.

KEY SCRIPTURE: Psalms 139:7 ” Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?”

God, our father is ever present or omnipresent.  He is everywhere at every time. God is higher and above our three-dimensional world. Man is finite and lives in a finite world. Our world is controlled by time, space, and matter. God is infinite. He is above our world, yet He controls time, space, and matter. Colossians 1:17, “He is before all things and by Him all things consist.”

God’s Omnipresence reveals how mighty He is. Isaiah 40:15 says “look, The nations are like a drop in a bucket, and are reckoned as dust on the scales. Look! He even lifts up the islands like powder.” Please just consider the preceding verse. God has the nations in His hand as a ‘drop of water ‘in a bucket. Nothing is hidden from Him, for He is so great, and every single thing is open and naked before Him (Hebrews 4:13). What a comfort to know that this mighty creator of the universe as our father assures us that He will never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5).

Proverb 15:3 informs us that the “eyes of the Lord are in every place. Watching the evil and the good. ” God always and in every place sees you. There is no moment you get out of His all-seeing eyes. He says the hair on your head is all numbered. And not even one strand of hair falls without His awareness. Luke 12:7.

These thoughts about God must fill our minds most of the time. Our worship and service unto the Lord would be deeper and satisfying if we would take time to meditate about God as revealed concerning His Omnipresence.

Many hearts are failing for fear and worry because we have lost sight of God’s omnipresence. The Psalmist says in Psalm 46:1 that “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” He continues His declaration that no matter what happens, he would not be moved. Because ” God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall rightly help her, AND THAT RIGHTLY EARLY”:

Dear brother or sister, you are never alone in whatever condition you find yourself. God is with you. Only believe in Him. HE WILL HELP YOU, AND THAT RIGHT EARLY.

 CONFESSION

My Father is with me in all situations, and at all times. I would walk upright before Him, and nothing would ever move me.

THOUGHT: GIVE NO PLACE TO WORRY AT ALL, FOR GOD IS ALWAYS WITH YOU, AND WILL NEVER FAIL YOU

THE POWER OF GOD 3.

KEY SCRIPTURE: Hebrews 4:12 ” For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart”.

The power of God is encapsulated (or hidden) in His word. He speaks of the word in the following way, “All things were made by Him and without Him was not anything made that was made ” John 1:3. This is the living word.

Everything visible and invisible was made or created by the word. The Psalmist talking about the voice of God says “The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty”. Praise the Lord (Psalm 29:4). God’s word is majestic. The word rules.

Please note this, God’s word does not just contain power, but it is all-powerful.

God communicates His power to men mainly through His word. Our key scripture says. This “The word of the Lord is alive and powerful. It is sharper than any two-edged sword piercing to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit and of the joints and the marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart”.

The word of God answers every aspect of the human life.

It is ‘sharper’ means it strikes once at every challenge and the answer is ready.

From our key scripture, we see the following about God’s word

  1. It handles both matters of the spirit as well as the soul. It gives the best solution to deep-seated emotional matters.

      2.     The word is the best solution for health and issues related to our body. (Proverb 4:22).

     3.      The word gives the best solution to all moral issues of men.

Our world is morally bankrupt because our societies are throwing the word away.

It is the word that ministers life to us. The Lord explained in John 6:63 as follows “it is the spirit that gives life, the flesh profits nothing, the words that I speak unto you, they are Spirit and, they are life”. The word is Spirit and has life”.  Is there anything dying in your life. Stop lamenting and panicking just give attention to the word. That is the power of God. Is it a health challenge? Attend to the word and do what it says (Proverb 4:20-22). The word would always create whatever it talks about.

  CONFESSION

God’s power is hidden in His word. As I feed my heart with the word, my spirit and soul is saturated with the power of God, thereby all things are made possible because the word makes it possible.

THOUGHT:DO NOT DOUBT THIS, GOD’S POWER IS OPERATIVE IN YOU, WHEN THE WORD IS ACTIVE IN YOU.

THE POWER OF GOD 2

KEY SCRIPTURE: John 11:40 ” Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God”

GOD, our Father, is all powerful. What must one do to experience this power in his or her life?

The Apostle Paul said in 1st Corinthians 2:4 “And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power. God’s power is not only for talking but to bring comfort to humanity, so God would be glorified. Please note this, anytime men are blessed by the power of God, God is glorified. John 2:11 “The beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth His glory, and His disciples believed in Him”. In this instant as Jesus manifested God’s power, it came to answer a big crisis.

The angels that appeared to the Shepherd who were watching over the flocks after the birth of the Lord Jesus said “Glory to God in the highest and on earth Peace, goodwill towards men” Luke 2:14. God’s power always brings glory to God, yet it also comes to bless humanity.

How do we experience this power which God releases for our blessing and, subsequently, His glory?

When the wine ran out during the wedding at Cana, Mary, the mother of Jesus asked Him to do something. The Lord told her that His time was not ready. Mary knew how to receive a miracle. She told the attendants to go to Jesus and do whatever He instructed. At the end of the story, he turns water into wine (John 2:1-11). A miracle was performed, and the crises were averted.

What made the master respond just after He had said His time was not up? Mary did not wait for Jesus’ time. She acted in faith, placing a demand on the integrity of the Son to manifest His power. Faith in God always sets up the right time for God to respond.

In our key scripture, Lazarus was dead, and Jesus said, “If they would believe, they would see the power or glory of God.” Faith in God is always the key that unlocks God’s power.

The disciples asked Jesus in John 6:28. “What must we do that we might work the works of God?” They were simply asking how can we see the power of God in our lives. John 2:29 “Jesus answered and said unto them, this is the work of God, that you believe on Him whom He hath sent.” Faith always receives God’s power to be manifested among men.

  CONFESSION

I am not ashamed of the Gospel because it is the power of God unto salvation to all those who would believe. Jesus has overcome for us, and we must simply trust in His finished work to walk in His power.

THE POWER OF GOD.

KEY SCRIPTURE. Psalms 62:11 God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God.

The bible introduces God as the powerful creator of the universe. “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth”. God is all powerful. Power is the ability to make things happen. To say God is all powerful means He can cause to happen whatever His perfect wisdom decides without any hindrance. God will not be God if He is not all powerful.

The Psalmist declares, ” God hath spoken once, twice have I heard this, that power belongs to God (Psalm 62:11).” This declaration places the father above any other being that may exhibit some level of power. I always read these program headlines that reads “Altar against Altar”. I do ask myself which altar against what altar? When God is pitched against any being, it is a mismatch. That context should not be thought about. Nothing in this universe can stand to oppose the power of God. When the Philistines who were ignorant of the power of God placed the Ark of the covenant before Dagon, their chief god, what happened? (1st Samuel 5:1-4). After the first day, they came to find Dagon with its face to the floor before the Ark of the covenant. They   made it to stand but was dismantled on the floor the next day. Dear child of God never hold any mentality that God goes into context against anything. When God shows up, that thing is no more.

Satan could not harm Job privately until He had wittingly sort permission from the Almighty. (Job 1:11-12).

The power of God in relation to the power of the devil is represented by the context between light and darkness.

John 1:4,5 ” In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And light shines in darkness and the darkness has never over powered it”. Satan is forever powerless before the Lord. God’s power is ultimate power.

Christians who live in fear of ‘whatever’ are simply uneducated about God’s power. Please note this it is one thing to be informed about God’s power, and it is another thing to trust your life into His hands.

    CONFESSION

HOPE IN GOD 4

KEY SCRIPTURE: Hebrews 6:19 “Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which entereth into that within the veil”;

The songwriter asked, “Will your anchor hold in the storms of life”. Please answer yes, my anchor will hold because my hope remains in the Lord Jesus! Scriptural hope is a supernatural anchor. An Anchor is something that holds a boat in place. Hope can and will hold our souls in place when we are in the midst of the storms of life. We must not give up hope no matter what we face. We can keep our hopes up by renewing our minds in the word of God.

Hopeless people do not protect their minds. They allow circumstances and the thoughts that Satan’s demons attempt to put into their minds to dominate their thinking. Hope cannot prevail if our minds are filled with negative thoughts based on the circumstances we face and the continual Satan’s demonic’ suggestions.

We must protect our minds when we face difficult problems. (REMEMBER THERE IS AN EVIL DAY FOR EVERYONE, Eph. 6:13). Our minds will be filled with the word of God if we faithfully obey our Father’s instruction to renew our minds in the word every day. When you feed your mind with the supernatural word of God, those seemingly hopeless situations won’t dominate you.

We must learn how to renew our minds in the word of God so we can get the promises of scripture out from the printed pages into our minds. We must also learn how to move the word from our minds into our hearts.

NB: We think with our minds, we believe with our hearts (Rom 10:10).

Both hope and faith are essential to trusting God. We will fail if we attempt to trust God only with the hope that is in our minds. We would also fail if we attempt to trust God only with the faith in our hearts. Hope and faith work together. Hope in our minds sets the goal and faith in our hearts gets something to bring into manifestation.

   CONFESSION

I am transformed by renewing my mind. I overcome every seemingly dangerous situation because my hope in the Lord is ever alive. The lies of the devil have no place in me. This keeps me winning with a very strong faith. Faith is strong when hope is strong p

HOPE IN GOD 3

KEY SCRIPTURE: Rom 15:4 AMP “…whatever. Was written in former days was, written for our instruction that by [our steadfast and patient] endurance and encouragement [drawn] from the Scriptures we might hold fast to cherish hope”

There is no hopeless situation with God. Christians deny the word of God if we believe that any situation is hopeless. There is no place in the word of God where we are told that anything is hopeless. God never looks at anything as hopeless. His power and might are far beyond the limitation of our human comprehension. If we think something is hopeless, we are identifying more with the seemingly hopeless circumstances we face. Since we are with the tremendous power of the Almighty God, there is nothing called hopeless.

God knows that we would need hope in these last days before Jesus returns. Thousands of years ago He anointed forty human authors to write sixty-six books of the Bible. …. “…Whatever was written in former days were written for our instruction and that by our (steadfast and patient) endurance and the encouragement [drawn] from the Scriptures we might hold fast to and cherish hope (Rom 15:4 AMP) .

This passage tells us that God has given us His anointed Holy Bible for our instruction.

Our Father wants us to learn continually from His supernatural word so that we would have steadfast and patient endurance so that we can hold fast to cherish hope. Our Father wants us to receive encouragement drawn from the Scriptures.

Our Scripture above explains the relationship between hope and receiving continual encouragement from the word of God.

We must renew our minds in the word of God each day, so that we would not give up hope. We are instructed to hold fast to hope. Our heavenly father has given us….. Mighty indwelling strength and strong encouragement to grasp and hold the hope appointed for us and set before us (Hebrews 6:18 AMP).

Our hope is Jesus. Our father has provided all of the strength within us that we will need to face whatever crisis may bring. (Phil 4:13, 2nd Corinth 12:9-10) Once again we are told that our father has given us strong encouragement so that we can hold fast to hope. We have this hope as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul (it cannot slip and it cannot break down under whenever steps out upon it) – a hope that reaches further and enters into the very certainty of the presence within the veil (Hebrews 6:19 AMP) .

Jesus in the presence of the Father is the anchor of our soul.

       CONFESSION

There is no hopeless situation with my father, there is therefore no hopeless situation with me. I renew my mind daily with the scriptures and I am strengthened to face the future with hope.
