KEY SCRIPTURE: Ephesians 5:19 “Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord”
Our key scripture admonishes us to declare the psalms and spiritual songs unto ourselves. It is not referring to others but to yourself. These psalms and prayers were prayed and sang by King David and it became the prayer and songbook of the Israelites.
There is a prophetic element to these psalms, because they minister edification, exhortation, and comfort. This is revealed about prophecy in 1 Corinthians 14:3” But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort”.
This is something you have got to do always. They are prophetic declarations or prayers.
There are many of the psalms that minister great strength to us as we speak them forth. Psalms, 23, 103, 91, are just a few common ones that most of us are used to. Please take time to explore into others and your life would be so enriched.
The other important aspect of doing this, is the fact that, we are filled with the Holy Spirit as we speak the psalms to ourselves. Ephesians 5:18-19 ” And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord”;
We see from the preceding verses that, speaking these psalms and spiritual songs unto ourselves helps us to be filled with the Holy Spirit.
A lot of stresses, satanic attacks would be stopped as we do these things. As you speak forth these psalms, you are making prophetic declarations that would be established in your life.
PRAYERS
Thank you heavenly Father for the psalms and spiritual songs. They are songs of praise, words of encouragement, and very powerful words that places me over various challenges as I speak them forth. Thank you father in Jesus name.
FURTHER STUDIES
Psalms 34:1-6” I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together. I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed. This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles”.
