KEY SCRIPTURE: Exodus 9:3 ” Behold, the hand of the LORD is upon thy cattle which is in the field, upon the horses, upon the asses, upon the camels, upon the oxen, and upon the sheep: there shall be a very grievous murrain.”
Once again Moses receives the instruction from the Lord for the king of Egypt. He never took a step without God instructing him. The Holy Spirit has come to play the role as our guide. John 16:13 reads “Howbeit when the Spirit of truth is come, he would guide you into all truth for he shall not speak of himself, but whatever he shall hear, that shall he speak and he shall tell you things to come.” The HOLY SPIRIT is our guide in a perverse and crooked world of sin. He is our guide in a world of satanic power. We must rely on him if we are to be successful.
The Lord decided to destroy the livestock of the Egyptians, leaving those of the Israelites. The cattle of the Egyptians died and not even one of that of the Israelites was found dead. Why did Israel stay free from such judgements? This is because they had not fallen foul to the laws of God. God’s judgement comes upon sinners irrespective of tribe, lineage or language. God shall always separate the righteous from the unrighteous. Psalm 1:4,5 reads “The ungodly are not so, but are like chuff which the wind driveth away, therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgement, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.” The sheep shall always be separated from the goat. God always judges men according to their actions. 2nd Corinthians 5:10 “For we must all appear before the judgement seat of Christ according to what we have done, whether good or bad:”
The Egyptians received the wrath of God because they acted against the word of God. God is not partial; He is a just God. He knows all that men do whether in the open or in private. Nothing escapes his awareness. May we decide to keep faith with him and his word. He is the rewarder of them that diligently seek him and judges all who do not honour him. Pharaoh and his people got their reward for their rebellion and their hard hardheartedness. Once again let’s be reminded that, God is not mocked, whatever a man sows that shall he also reap. He shall of the flesh reap corruption, if he sows to the flesh, and he shall reap eternal life if he sows to the Spirit. Gal 6:7
O God, may all your children never take you for granted. May Christians understand that God’s grace is not a license for nonsense, but a provision of divine ability for excellence
Romans 2:8-9 ” But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;”
