KEY SCRIPTURE: Proverbs 17:22 KJV” A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones”.
My father, Opanin Kofi Somuah, who has gone to be with the Lord once advised me, ‘marry a woman with a cheerful countenance’. I followed his advice and will ever be grateful to him for that wise counsel. Indeed, there is everything good in a cheerful or merry heart. Our key scripture says, a merry heart or joyful spirit does good as medicine. This means, it heals the body.
Now let’s consider some of the benefits of a merry heart as scientific research has revealed. (A merry heart besides other things, is also triggered by laughter)
1.Laughter relaxes the whole body
2.Laughter boosts the immune system.
3.Laughter triggers the release of endorphins, the body’s natural feel good chemicals
4 laughter protects the heart
5 laughter burns calories if done for ten to fifteen minutes in the day.
6 laughter lightens anger heavy load
7 laughter can help you live longer
8.Laughter can decrease pain
9.Laughter relaxes the muscles
10.Laughter improves mood.
11 Strengthens resilience
12.Attracts others to you.
In the light of all these blessings and benefits of laughter, we must endeavour to take some time off each day to do some good laughter. Remember, it is God’s prescription for a healthy lifestyle.
Proverbs 17:22 KJV A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones. Don’t allow others to intimidate you from laughing. Don’t make your challenges stop you from laughing. Your laughter would put you over every problem very soon.
CONFESSION.
I laugh in appreciation of all the goodness of the Lord. I laugh in challenging times because my Father has already determined my victory. I laugh because it is good for my health. Laughing put me on top of all issues
