WHAT IS YOUR NAME?

KEY SCRIPTURE: Genesis 32:27 KJV” And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob”.

The story behind our key scripture is, Jacob was afraid to meet his embittered brother Esau. He wrestled with an angel for the whole night, after which he asked the angel to bless him. The angel rather asked of his name? Names normally portray the character of people. I wish to ask you, what is your name? It does not matter your title, position, office or what you do. You may be struggling with a bad behavior, habit or what men would call some weakness of some kind. Does the Lord agree that His children exhibit weakness and sinful behaviours? What does he say? Matthew 5:48 KJV “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect”.

HOW can any man fulfill this instruction from the Lord? Dear child of God please get this point clear; the Lord would not ask us to do what we can’t do, or He would not ask us to do what He has not made provision for its achievement. Our Lord Jesus through His death has done a perfect work that qualifies us for a very victorious and excellent life.(Col 1:12, 2nd Peter 1:3) Please note also that our Lord Jesus through His death, destroyed, the power of sin in our lives and overpowered Satan and his cohorts for us.

(Colossians 2:11-15).

As a woman takes the name of the man through a wedding ceremony, everyone baptized into Christ have taken on the name of Christ, and every victory of Jesus is theirs (Galatians 3:27). You no longer answer to that old name of sinfulness and weakness. You have the perfections of Christ as yours, and you live with that awareness. 2nd Corinth 5:17 KJV ” Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”. You are not in the flesh but in the Spirit (Romans 8:9). Accept your new status, that is of Christ and is now called Christ and live with that awareness. You don’t have any weakness, sinfulness, lust anymore in your new nature. You rather help those who are weak to leave the flesh realm to also live out the life of Christ.

CONFESSION.

I am baptized into Christ and so I have put on Christ. I am one with Him, in His holiness, one with Him in his love for all men, one with Him in His supernatural power to cast out devils. I am forever victorious with Jesus.
