KEY SCRIPTURE :1Kings 18:42 KJV “So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees,”
After the prophets of Baal had been slaughtered. the rains must be allowed to come. Elijah prayed to stop it and had to pray to let it fall. Our key scripture reveals that king Ahab went to eat but Elijah, went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees, when it calls for changing situations by prayer, then it is not time for eating and pleasure, as King Ahab did. It is a time for prayer.
HOW did he pray?
1 He prayed with faith. 1Ki 18:41 KJV “And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain”
.2 He prayed passionately. James 5:17. The scripture said he prayed earnestly that it might not rain, and he likewise prayed earnestly again, that it might rain. Prayer is an expression of desire and so the desire must be intense.
3 He prayed expectantly 1Ki 18:43 KJV “And said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, there is nothing. And he said, Go again seven times. He kept sending his assistant to go and look whether the clouds were gathering
4 . He prayed persistently .. 1 KINGS 18:44a ” And it came to pass at the seventh time…. “His assistant had to go up to the seventh time. Seven in this context means complete. Have the attitude to go on in prayer till the answer is manifested.
The following is how the amplified Bible said it . James 5:16 b
“……….. The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working].” When he prayed this way, heaven responded and the answer was released. You would not be denied as you go through these proven steps in prayer to get answers and difficult situations changing.
PRAYER
Thank you, heavenly Father, for the privilege of prayer. Thank you, Lord, for your ears that are always ready to hear and answer us. Thank you, Lord, for the power of God released as we pray. Amen.
