THE PARABLE OF THE SOWER EXPLAINED 3

KEY SCRIPTURE: Matthew 13:22 (KJV). “He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.”

The Lord explained about the seeds that fell among the thorns. He said, when the seeds grew among     the thorns, it choked the plant. The seed could not bear fruit. Mark in his recording of the gospel, wrote it this way, “And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.”  — Mark 4:19 (KJV) He described three things that choke the word.

They are;

1 The cares of this world

2.The deceitfulness of riches

3.The lust of other things.

These things choke the word or seed and make it ineffective to bring forth fruits.

The first on the list is about the cares of this life. Every man, no matter his status in this life, will always have a need or a want at a point in time. There may be some challenges of life to confront. Some could be life threatening. In all these the Lord says cast all your cares upon Him. “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”  — 1 Peter 5:7 (KJV).

It is not the role of any child of God to be careful or anxious about anything. “Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”

  — Philippians 4:6 (KJV). To be anxious about anything, is to turn away from the word of God.

Please get this mystery which humanity has missed since the fall of man. The whole earth, must be filled with the glory of God all the time. Do you remember Jesus asked us to pray that God’s will be done on earth, as it is in heaven? (Matthew 6:10) Creation is to continually manifest God’s glory. “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.”  — Revelation 4:11 (KJV).

God’s glory is manifested by the agency of His word. When men yield to His word, do His word, HIS glory is revealed on the earth. “Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?” — John 11:40 (KJV). We see His glory when we believe His word. To be careful and anxious is doing what keeps His glory away. This is one of the worse things any man could do to himself or herself.

Jesus said when men care about the things of this life it makes the word of no effect. It chokes the word. The word does not bear fruit. Note the word bearing fruit in you is what is known as the glory of God.

CONFESSION

The Lord is my shepherd and I am careful about nothing. I trust Him all the way, and His glory is revealed in me. I am full of praise for Him and joy in Him, because He leads me all the way. Thank you, Lord Jesus.

FURTHER STUDIES

Psalms 23 (KJV)

¹ (A Psalm of David.) The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

² He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

³ He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

⁴ Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

⁵ Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

⁶ Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
