KEY SCRIPTURE: Matthew 16:6 (KJV). “Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.”
The Pharisees were a very strict religious sect, that believed in angels, resurrection of the dead and life after death. The Sadducees were more of a secular sect, which had a divergent believe system from that of the Pharisees. What is the doctrine of these two sects that the Lord warned His disciples against.? These people served the god of self with the law of Moses as it’s means. They practiced and preached the law, yet it was not the God of Moses they were serving, it was their selves they projected.
Jesus said the following about them. “Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat:”— Matthew 23:2 (KJV)In the seat of Moses they promoted laws that satisfied their ego. In the Lord’s teachings he made some statements about them that reveals their true doctrine. “Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are as graves which appear not, and the men that walk over them are not aware of them.”— Luke 11:44 (KJV) They presented themselves as teachers of the law, yet they led no one into the liberty of God, but the bondage and death of their own ways.
THIS is a doctrine taught and practiced by some modern-day teachers. Hypocrisy is presenting yourself in a way that you are not. Please read Mathew 23:12-32 May we all learn from Jesus’ revelations about the scribes and Pharisees, so we may avoid their error.
PRAYER
Father, I pray for all Christian leaders, and teachers of the word to escape the way and path of the Pharisees.
FURTHER STUDIES
Matthew 23:27-28 (KJV). ²⁷ Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness. Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
Authenticity is the fruit of His Spirit at work within our lives.
