GOD IS SOVEREIGN

KEY SCRIPTURE: Matthew 20:15 (KJV).  “Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good?”

Please read Matt 20:1-15

In this passage the Lord Jesus gave a parable about an employer who went about employing various persons at certain times of the day. Each time he came across some individuals standing idle, he would engage them into his business and agree with them the amount to pay them at the end of the day. By the close of the day, he kept employing to the last but one hour. He decided to pay those who came lately first. Meanwhile He had agreed with each group to pay them the same amount. Those who came earlier felt cheated because, they had started from the very first hour, yet they received the same amount with those who came later.

THIS parable reveals how God our Father deals with those He engages in His service. He determines how he honors his children. He does not reward His servants on their terms, but His terms. He appoints certain gifts and abilities to certain individuals according to His own choice. “So, then it is not of him that willeth, nor of the him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.” — Romans 9:16 (KJV)

Dear child of God, never feel cheated or even envious about the blessings on any child of God. God is the one who determines how He uses each person to His glory. You must rejoice greatly over divine appointments. God is sovereign and we His servants must agree with Him on whatever He chooses to do with any of His servants. Please understand your part in whatever he has put in your hands. It is your role to serve Him diligently, lovingly and sacrificially.

The payments the employer made in our passage were all the earthly benefits. The heavenly rewards are based on your faithfulness or truthfulness to whatever He gave to you to be done. Always serve Him with all your heart.

THOUGHT: ON THIS EARTH GOD DETERMINES. HOW HE USES AND BLESSES HIS SERVANTS, IN HEAVEN YOUR Faithfulness ON THIS EARTH DETERMINES YOUR REWARDS.
