KEY SCRIPTURE: Matthew 22:32 (KJV). “I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.”
After the Lord had corrected the scribes and Pharisees on the issue of marriage after the resurrection in the new age, the Lord taught them that, the Lord God is not a God of the dead but of the living. He sited Abraham, Isaac and Jacob as alive unto Him. This means all the saints who passed into glory are alive before Him. “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” — 2 Corinthians 5:8 (KJV). These clarifications answers so many questions. It also comforts the hearts of all those who have lost loved ones. They are not in the grave but in the presence of the Lord. When we are absent from this body we go to be with the Lord.
The following are some of the questions that the above truths answers.
1. If the Christian goes to be with the Lord, then he is not sleeping in the grave as some sects teach.
2. Since the Christian goes to be with the Lord then he can’t come around and show himself to family and friends as ghost. If this is the case what is the encounters with ghosts or spirits of the dead that some have experienced? Please let’s get it straight. Any experience that contradicts the Bible is a scheme of the devil to deceive men. How can a man or woman in the presence of God come around the earth at his or her own will to show himself or herself to people? A spirit can only do that at the permission of the father as in the case of the transfiguration. Matt 17:1-4.What then are these spirits that manifests as ghost? Please note that Satan is called the father of liars, John 8:44. He is that old serpent who deceives the whole world. Rev. 12:9. Satan’s aim is to discredit the Bible or holy scriptures. If the devil and his demons can manifest as angel of Light (2 Corinth 11:14), then they could manifest as spirits of the dead to deceive the unlearned.
IF a man dies without knowing Jesus as his Lord, he is taken to hell. Luke 16:23. If he is in hell he can’t come as a ghost to frighten men.
THOUGHT: The spirit of a man is immortal and lives on for ever.
