KEY SCRIPTURE: John 1:37 KJV “And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.”
When John said Jesus is the lamb of God, two of his followers, realising this is the truth, quickly left him to follow Jesus. They did not waste any time, they obeyed promptly. God always expects his children to be very swift in their obedience. To delay may bring unnecessary difficulties.
In the book of Jonah, the Spirit of the Lord spoke to him to go to a town called Nineveh, to warn them about an impending judgement of God because of their sinful ways. Jonah 1:2 KJV “Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me. “Jonah decided not to be obedient to the voice of God. He found a ship which was going to another city. Things turned out so bad that, he was thrown into the ocean and a whale swallowed him, only to be damped at the coast of Nineveh. He eventually went to deliver the message. What was the essence of going through all that trouble? There are many children of who are facing all kinds of rough and difficult times because they would not obey the Lord’s instructions.
Some people ended up doing what God asked them, but with certain physical deformities. Is it the Lord who punished them this way? When a man acts against the will of God, he vacates God’s perfect will, where God controls every event for his good, and rather enters God’s permissive will, where God allows any foreign power to act, yet out of love may turn the situation to get you to do what he might have asked you to do. I said, he may, yet in some cases if you stay stubborn, you would end up being destroyed in your disobedience. This was the experience of King Saul.
Always act like these two disciples of John. You may also consider Abraham. When the Lord asked him to leave his people, nation and go to a land he knew nothing about, he quickly obeyed. Abraham’s obedience has resulted in present day blessing of the nation Israel. God is perfect and every instruction is made in love, for your ultimate good. Be prompt in your, obedience to His instructions.
THOUGHT: TO DO WHAT GOD SAYS IS TO CHOOSE GOOD.
