KEY SCRIPTURE: John 6:21 ISV” So they were glad to take him on board, and immediately the boat reached the land toward which they were going”.
The Lord Jesus finally entered the ship of the disciples, and the scriptures said, they were glad. Gladness is an expression of joy as a result of the fulfillment of a desired state of affairs. The disciples were only happy or glad because the master entered their boat. The Christian is supposed to be joyful every day, because Jesus is always in his live. Philippians 4:4 ISV “Keep on rejoicing in the Lord at all times. I will say it again: Keep on rejoicing!” The bible also says the heart of joy is medicine to the whole body. Prov 17:22 KJV “A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.” These are some of the reasons the Spirit of God instructs us to be joyful always. He reminds us to rejoice in the Lord. This means to count our successes in the light of the successes and victories of Jesus as ours.
Some Christians understand that our place and the blessings in Christ are positional and not experiential. This is one of the errors that some Christians make and so, fail to experience the joy of the Lord. How are we
saved? We believe in the finished work of Jesus as we acknowledge Him as the Lord of our lives. As a result of this, we believe, we are saved and even ready to enter heaven, if the Lord should appear right now. In Christ we are blessed with all spiritual blessings. Faith in the word makes what we anticipate to get in the future very real now (Heb 11:1). By faith we are accepted in the beloved and so, we rejoice about it. By faith we are masters over all devils, including Satan himself. With that understanding, if any demon or the devil should manifest right now, we have the right, or authority of Jesus to cast out that devil. Rejoicing in the Lord simply means all the victory or conquering of Jesus is now ours, for real. It is not going to be ours some days or time to come. We rejoice and celebrate in the Lord about it. It has all got to do with our Lord Jesus, whose righteousness has become presently our righteousness, His authority is our authority, His victory over Satan is our victory over Satan. This is what it means to rejoice in Jesus always.
Why are some Christians not glad or joyful? The answer is that, they walk by the flesh. When an individual lives according to the flesh, he fights every difficulty by his strength, He sees all the wrong things that has not changed and therefore becomes anxious and loses his joy. If he should be spiritual, that is to be controlled by the word, he sees from the word that says all his burdens were put on Jesus. Although this individual may have some challenges, he counts on the faithfulness and integrity of the word, and so, he rejoices and says if the word says it, he believes it, and that settles it.
Spirituality is the basis for a continual victorious and subsequently, a very joyful life
