KEY SCRIPTURE: John 6:70 KJV “Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?”
The name Judas paints a very wrong and a bad picture, yet the name has a very wonderful meaning.
It is the Hebrew name Yudah, which means praise or ‘he will be praised’. The names Judah, Jude and Judas are all one and the same name.
In our study the Lord said He chose twelve disciples whom He designated as apostles, yet one was a devil. What is the difference between humans and devils?
Humans can repent from their wrong ways, yet devils cannot or will not repent.
Judas had the amazing opportunity to be walking with Jesus, who is truth personified. Jesus, is the embodiment of love. Inspite of the great teachings the Lord gave, backed by great acts of love, Judas still kept to his mean life. In John 12, Mary the sister of Lazarus anointed the feet of Jesus with a very costly ointment, and Judas commented that this was a waste, for it could have been sold and the money given to the poor. The bible revealed the following about him. John 12:6 KJV” This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.”
Judas was filled with greed because, he was a thief. He walked with Jesus but never allowed the words of Jesus to get into him. He never repented from his greediness. He was a devil.
Sadly, there are people who go to church who may be described as devils, that is, they never repent from the error in them. It feels awful to call a fellow human a devil, yet that is how the Lord described it.
They could even be preachers of the gospels, who preach to congregations every Sunday and other times, yet they act as devils. Dear one, refuse to be a devil. Don’t be eaten up with a bad temper, and keep priding in it, and say that, ‘as for me, I have a bad temper’ Another will say, ‘as for me my problem is women’. If you admit to these bad characters and are not ready to stop it , then you are acting as a devil.
Decide to repent today. Jesus did not save you to be a devil. He saved you to make you a Saint. Romans 1:7
What must you do? Accept you can change from that wrong character, and that you would repent from it. The word of God holds the key to your transformation. Psalms 19 :7 says ” The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.” God’s word is perfect, that is, it is whole, complete or without blemish, and so, if you give it that attention, it will convert your soul. The soul here represents that inner personality that put up the wrong nature. It would be made perfect by the word which is perfect. The testimony or the declarations of the word will also make you wise, so you would act appropriately. Don’t be like Judas who never gave attention to Jesus and His message. The scripture says, the statutes of the Lord are right, REJOICING THE HEART. It will give you the joy that no physical wrong act can give you. Accept God’s word and live as a Saint.
