KEY SCRIPTURE: John 8:14 KJV “Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I go.”
The Lord Jesus had various types of audience to speak to. He spoke to Pharisees like Nicodemus who was ready to accept the truth, so He took time to explain the whole truth to him. John 3:1-16, He talked to the woman at the well (John 4), and because she was not hard hearted, the Lord opened her up to the way of life. His disciples were also given the opportunity to know the ways of life. These people in our key scripture, were just fault seekers and the Lord did not open up to them. Mark 4:11 KJV “And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables:” In Mark 4:12 the Lord added that such people were not supposed to know the mystery of the kingdom.
Jesus came to communicate the Goodnews to all men yet certain people made up their minds not to accept the truth even if they were made to see the truth. To such people the Lord always dealt with them from the peripherals. He would not perform a miracle before such people. Matt 7:6 says ” Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.”
From our key scripture the Lord said to them I know my record is true, for I know where I came from but you do not know where I came from. We see that He was dealing with such people as outsiders. They were not prepared to humble themselves to the truth.
In our times there are some people who have the same attitude, such people twist every truth you give them. They see miracles and would find some way to explain it away. The Lord did not explain matters into details to them. Always know the kind of audience you are dealing with. Some of them would need the supernatural work of the Holy Spirit to win them in the secret of their hearts. To such people trust the Holy Spirit to win them, but when you speak to them do so as Jesus did. Do not go into an argument with such people.
PRAYER
Father, give me the discernment to know the type of people I am speaking to. Help me to know the proper approach to talk to them, help me by your Spirit to give the right words to them, trusting the Holy Spirit to speak through me to them.
THOUGHT: WE ARE TO SPEAK TO ALL, YET, NOT ALL WILL ACCEPT OUR MESSAGE
