KEY SCRIPTURE: Ephesians 6:18 “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit,”
In our next series of studies, we would be considering the various kinds of prayer.
Our key scripture tells us to pray always with all prayer.
All prayer, means there are different kinds of prayers. The following are a list of the various kinds of prayer:
1. The prayer of faith (James 5:15)
2. The prayer of praise and worship (Acts 13:2)
3. United prayer (Acts 4:24)
4. The prayer of commitment (Luke 22:42)
5. The prayer of intercession (Eph. 1:15, 16)
6. The prayer of agreement (Matt 18:19)
7. Travailing prevailing prayer (Acts 12:5)
These kinds of prayers have their unique rules of engagement.
Just as various types of games have their own unique rules for their operation, the same goes for the kinds of prayer. To be an effective Christian, you must pray to get results always. Getting results means knowing how to pray according to the demand of the hour. You’ve got to know the various kinds of prayer and the right way to effect them.
In praying the prayer of faith, you would negate your prayer by adding the phrase “if it be thy will”. Meanwhile, in the prayer of consecration, it is just right to say “if it be thy will”. Again, in the prayer of faith to keep repeating the same request would be an act of unbelief thus negating your prayer.
In the intercessory prayer, we keep repeating the request till the answer is realised. The prayer of faith may be offered when praying for something that concerns you in which the will of God is clearly stated. For example, when praying for a health condition, a physical need, etc. (James 5:15)
We must know each kind of prayer and the specific rules governing its application to get good results.
THOUGHT: FOR EFFECTIVE RESULTS KNOW THE KIND OF PRAYER AND THE RULES THAT GOVERN IT
PRAYER
Dear heavenly father, thank you for your ears that are open to my prayers, thank you that you always hear and answer me when I pray. As I pray to apply the requisite rules for the kind of prayers, I see changes and a big transformation in my life. In the name of Jesus, have I prayed.
