KEY SCRIPTURE: John 10:5 KJV” And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.”
The Lord said His children know His voice and so will flee from that of a stranger. Sheep will naturally respond very well to the voice, sounds, and certain actions of their shepherds. Sadly, there have been some children of God who somehow have been terribly deceived because they went after the voice of the stranger.
The book of beginnings shows us that sin commenced because Eve our first mother listened to the voice of the stranger and so ate the plant God warned them not to eat. They instantly died spiritually, became subjected to Satan, and had every evil thing coming at them. Do you know the voice of the chief shepherd? Where are you presently in your spiritual journey? Are you sailing high with the Lord, or you are sinking deep in quicksand.?
Why do people of God fall out and begin to listen to the voice of the enemy? Life experiences have taught us that, there are many who used to live in the joy of the Lord, yet are now nowhere to be found. Eve’s encounter can give us some answers to this dilemma. The devil first said to Eve has God said you should not eat of the tree which is in the midst of the garden? Eve should have settled it in her mind that what God says was final and no other voice had to be considered. She should have quickly told the devil I hold God’s word above everything and cannot take any other voice. She listened further to Satan. No one gives attention to the devil and would not receive direction from him. Lastly, she gave thought to the stranger’s voice and fell for his deceit. 2Co 11:3 KJV” But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.” Her mind was corrupted because lust started developing within her.
Let’s compare this to how the Lord Jesus was able to overcome the subtility of the stranger. The Lord had made a firm decision never to listen to anyone’s voice besides the fathers. Anything that opposed the father’s voice had to be opposed. When the devil asked him to turn the stones to bread, He quickly refused by answering, ‘man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word from the mouth of God’. Remember, a decided mind cannot be tempted. The Lord Jesus at that instant and at every other moment ran away from the voice of the stranger.
Never become wiser than the Father. Trust in the Lord even when your action in trusting the Lord makes you look foolish.1Co 1:25 KJV “Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.” This is the truth and so no matter how a suggestion contrary to what God says seems to be foolish, please stick to it. All who do so are victors and champions at the end of the day.
CONFESSION
The voice of the Lord is always true and very powerful. The stranger’s voice comes sugar-coated with very lucrative enticements. I always know the Lord’s voice and quickly reject all the suggestions of the wicked.
