THE THIEF OR THE SHEPHERD

John 10:10 KJV “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly.”

We continue with our study on the walk with Jesus. In light of our discussion, our key scripture is referring to the false teachers in this verse. He calls them thieves; The false teacher is consumed with a lust to enrich himself and so uses all kinds of cunning tricks to prey on the unsuspecting sheep. The thief in our key scripture could also be likened to the devil. Indeed, those actions revealed by the Lord Jesus describe him perfectly well. He comes only to steal, kill and destroy. The sad truth is that he does not overpower us as the lion forcefully attacks its prey, but uses schemes and cunning tricks to take hold of his victims. Remember that the bible said he is like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. This statement means he cannot handle certain people but looks around for the weak ones to take advantage of.

Dear child of God, Satan is not supposed to succeed in taking ANY child of God captive. Our Lord Jesus has totally defeated and overpowered him for us. Heb 2:14 KJV” Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;” The word’ destroy ‘ also means to be paralysed or to be made nothing. Unfortunately, many children of God have a very great fear of the devil. This is wrong. We must rather hate him, including everything he does and represents.

Please, understand also that the devil cannot continue his activities of destruction in your life without your permission. The Lord said in Mat 18:18 KJV Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

And again, He says in James 4:7, submit to God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you. From the forgoing verse, it is up to us to either entertain the onslaught of the devil or say no, enough is enough. Arise and challenge that devil that seeks to mess your life.

PRAYER

Thank you, dear Father, for your love and victory through my Lord Jesus.I acknowledge your Lordship over my life and resist every activity of the devil in my life in the mighty name of Jesus Christ  I declare my absolute victory over the devil .Amen.
