MY SHEEP SHALL NOT PERISH

KEY SCRIPTURE; Joh 10:28 KJV” And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

The Lord continued on His statement concerning His sheep. After talking about them following Him, He says that He will give them eternal life. He added that His sheep would not perish, and also no man, devil, or power will be able to pluck them, out of His hands. Jesus is talking about the fact that no devil can be able to pluck one who has received eternal life from His hands. This is a word assuring all children of God of the security of their salvation. This issue brings along a question that many Christians keep asking. When one is saved, is He forever saved, no matter what he or she does?

I know the Lord meant a child of God cannot lose his salvation because of any external power. I do not think this covers one’s choices and actions. Some Christians make claim to this verse and do whatever they choose, saying their salvation is intact. Let’s consider the following scriptural statements.

  1. Rom 8:12 KJV” Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.”
  2. 1 John 5:16 KJV” If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.”
  3. Heb 6:4, 6 KJV For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.
  4. 4 Gal 5:21 KJV” Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.”

There are a number of scriptures that address this issue but space will not permit me. The last scripture said it all, that is, those who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. Please note that this letter was written to Christians. Dear child of God, your salvation is secured in the sense that, no devil seeking to deprive you of heaven, can stop you from making it to heaven, yet if you allow yourself to be influenced by these demons to act against the path of righteousness and you continue living that way, then the scripture says, those who live that way, would not inherit the kingdom of heaven.

CONFESSION

Thank you, heavenly Father, for my salvation. Indeed, no man or power can pluck me out of the hands of the master. I also live such that I do not become a reproach to Christ to make me unqualified to be accepted before God.
