BEWARE OF COMPROMISE AGAINST GOD

KEY SCRIPTURE: 1 Samuel 29:6” Then Achish called David, and said unto him, Surely, as the LORD liveth, thou hast been upright, and thy going out and thy coming in with me in the host is good in my sight: for I have not found evil in thee since the day of thy coming unto me unto this day: nevertheless, the lords favour thee not”.

A war between the Israelites and the Philistines was to be fought. David had wanted to fight on behalf of the Philistines, but the lords of the Philistines did not permit Him. It would have been a very big mistake. Never fight against the body of Christ.

David was unconsciously seeking to please a man at a very big cost. This king Achish of Philistine has been very kind to David. He had given him a big respite from the threat and pursuit of King Saul. The great refuge that he had from the Philistine king made him feel like one who must please him at all cost. David was going to fight the people of God on behalf of an uncircumcised king. His mission in life, by the anointing prophet Samuel poured on him, was to defend the people of God and to fight for the house of Israel.

In life, some of us encounter people who might be extremely kind to us. Their favourable disposition places a very strong demand to please them at all costs. Certain Christian ladies have given in to extra amorous advances because these men have been very good to them. Listen to the counsel of the Lord. Jer 17:5 KJV” Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.” Pleasing a man at the expense of our allegiance to God places us under a curse. Men are not God. Every kindness you receive from a man came from God. He uses men to bless us. Unfortunately, some of such men think it is their abilities or efforts that have made them of such help.

Dear one, you must be a man or woman of principle like Joseph, Daniel or the three Hebrew friends, Shadrack, Meshack, and Abednego, who would not compromise no matter the pressure they suffered. Joseph’s resistance was to cost him his freedom, and to suffer imprisonment for over a decade (17 years in prison). I believe this woman showed lots of goodwill towards Him, all in setting the stage to win him into her bed. Joseph said Gen 39:9 KJV There is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back anything from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God? He had made up His mind to please God at all costs. God our Father is the ultimate judge,  and to Him alone would we be judged ultimately.

 PRAYER

Dear heavenly Father, I receive grace to remain faithful to you under all situations.
