JESUS, THE GREAT SAVIOUR

KEY SCRIPTURE: John 8:10 KJV” When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?”

When the Lord asked, woman where are your accusers, she felt like dreaming, for no, one who is prepared to be stoned by the scribes and Pharisees that goes free. She was like one dead who had been brought back to life. That is what an encounter with Jesus would do for the one who is desperate for salvation. These people taught they were sending her to Jesus to find a case of accusation against Jesus, and then kill her at the long run. Nothing falls into the Lord’s hands that Satan can have to destroy again. Romans 10:13 KJV “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Jesus is mighty to save.

The Lord Jesus is a mighty saviour and whosoever shall call on His name shall be saved. One of our associate pastors, Pastor Samuel Ofori narrated an incident that occurred at Nkawkaw in the Eastern Region of Ghana, in the early eighties. He said they returned from a movie night show to find a large gathering of people at the Accra bus station. There was this man who was under an influence, who will run from a distance to hit his head hard against an electric pole as he screamed, ‘Jesus kill me’. He did that for three times, but nothing happened to his head. No cut, no blood flow or injury of any kind. He found a bottle broke it and shouted Jesus kill me, and then stroke it into her belly, attempting to pierce his belly with the broken bottle, but this time too, nothing happened to him. He lastly took the life electrical wires and put it into his mouth, still shouting ‘Jesus kill me’. It was at this point that the police arrived to overpower him and sent him away. It was very surprising he never got injured in any way. What really kept him from getting injured or killed, the name Jesus. That name means Jehovah is Saviour. Jesus means, you are calling on Jehovah to save you, He is a saviour. Whosoever shall call on His name shall be saved.

Dear one what is your situation that needs some form of. salvation? Call on the Lord Jesus in faith and He would save you. If you are lost in your sins this is your moment for salvation. Repent off your sins and call on Jesus to save your soul and come into your life. He would wonderfully save you.

PRAYER

I pray for you in the mighty name of Jesus that He would save, heal, bless , lift or help you from any and every condition that needs his salvation. Be set free in Jesus mighty name. Amen.

THOUGHT:  JESUS SAVES, EVEN FROM THE HANDS OF DEATH

FURTHER STUDIES

Acts 4:12 KJV “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”

Rom 10:12 KJV “For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.”

TRUTH WINS

KEY SCRIPTURE: John 8:9 KJV” And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.”

Light will forever win over darkness, and truth will always win over lies, error and wickedness. These Pharisees and scribes were calling for the death of the poor woman yet i believe the Lord had a better plan for both persons. I believe as much as Jesus loved the woman and wanted to save her, he also loved the Pharisees who were all swallowed up by error. Jesus spoke the truth to them because He loved them too.

Hatred against any kind of humans on any front is a tool of the evil one.

1Jn 3:14 KJV ” We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.”

Love for all should always be our motivation for dealing with everyone, whether they are kind to us or unkind to us.

When the Lord asked those accusers of the woman that “…he that is without sin, let him first cast the first stone at her”, he opened up their consciences to themselves.

Evil actions are getting into a partnership with the devil to do something.

Such persons cause destruction to others, yet they set themselves up for destruction as well.

Sin is simply the fruit of the union between a man and a devil.

Sins are not just actions but repulsive and filthy acts that also challenge the very throne of God. It is the aim of the devil and his messengers to defile mankind and make them objects of God’s wrath. He blindfolds men to this truth so he could deceive and destroy them.

The Lord’s answer was not only intended to keep them from harming the woman, but to save their souls from destruction.

May we always learn from the master by first loving all persons and then telling them the truth about their situations. We should never be terrified by the faces of men.

We have to look beyond their faces and see the power of evil that has taken over their faculties to finally destroy them.

Speak that truth in a manner to them that would arouse their clear conscience but not to provoke their ego to rebel. It is an action motivated by love that can achieve that response. We have to relate to our spouses in this manner. Whenever you are dealing with your children, let love lead. Do you remember when the Lord cautioned parents not to provoke their children? (Eph 6:4) Love is the foundation for a truthful and fruitful relationship.

CONFESSION

I am a child of God, filled with the love of God. I hate no man, even those who are offensive, for they are living according to their senses, yet I am ruled by the word. My words are also seasoned with salt, and they draw right responses from my hearers.

THOUGHT:  LOVE WILL NOT BREAK THE INDIVIDUAL, BUT WILL SURELY BREAK THE EVIL IN THEM

DEFENDING THE WEAK

KEY SCRIPTURE: John 8:7 KJV “So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.”

It is very normal to side with the majority, especially when the laws favour them. The Lord was a very principled man, who came to bear witness to the truth. The Lord would always protect the weak and vulnerable, yet He NEVER supported sin. Christians should never support victimisation of any weak person, yet like our master, they should always hate and speak against anything the word of God calls sin. It is the nature of our heavenly father to always support the weak. It is on the grounds of this principle that God seems to choose the second or last born’s of the fathers, to bring them into limelight.

The naturally humbled are God’s favourites.

People in power must always do their best to help and alleviate the poor of their plight. The strong should never take advantage of the weak. Exodus 23:9 KJV “Also thou shalt not oppress a stranger: for ye know the heart of a stranger, seeing ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.” The stranger is quite helpless and needs a lot of assistance. To take advantage of such a one, is to invite the anger and fury of God. Just consider what the Lord says in the following verse; Lev 19:14 “Thou shalt not curse the deaf, nor put a stumblingblock before the blind, but shalt fear thy God: I am the LORD.” The deaf is impaired in his hearing, therefore, cursing him means he does not hear, and can’t tell what you maybe saying, yet you place an evil effect on his life. He can’t do anything about it. God the defender of the defenceless is the one who would act for him. The Lord also talked about not putting an impediment or obstructing on the path of the blind. This is a curse on you if you do so.

Men who molest minors in any form do so at the anger of God. There are certain rich men who would be forcing poor helpless girls who come to them for assistance, to have sex with them. Sadly, some of these people call themselves Christians. This is a disgrace to the name of Christ. You must always be ready to defend the defenceless.

Power and influence is never forever.

It is given to you to serve, help and support the weak. Pastors should not use their position to live fat on the churches funds while poor congregation members live in very deplorable conditions.

We are protectors of the unprotected.

CONFESSION

I am in the stead of my Lord Jesus, I am a defender of the defenceless, a helper of the helpless, for the love of Jesus has filled my heart and so,I can’t stand the exploitation of the weak .

THOUGHT:  GOD WILL COME THROUGH FOR ANYONE WHO STANDS FOR THE WEAK.

STOP THE EVIL MAN

KEY SCRIPTURE: John 8:7 KJV “So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.”

Evil perpetrators should not be argued with, but must be stopped. The Lord did not attempt to engage in any dialogue with these killers, He came to scatter them. The question he gave them was intended to totally render them useless. We will always meet people who would want to put us down. Do not give them answers that would make them keep pestering you. Give them answers that would not be provocative yet powerful enough to make them silent. As they kept demanding an answer from the Lord, He was waiting for a one stop answer that will keep everyone of them away. As soon as the Holy Spirit gave the answer He gave it to them.

The basis for that answer was love for the poor vulnerable woman. One may say, the woman had sinned and needed to be punished. The question is, were these men qualified to punish that woman? These were men who were equally guilty of all kinds of offences, and had forgotten their sins, but ready to judge and kill another individual. They had to be stopped. The second reason Jesus had to stop them was the fact that He had come to bear that kind of punishment for all men. No man should die for his sins when He was around. The love in the heart of the master could not stand any sinner dying for his or her sins.

Dear brother or sister, Jesus had died for your sins. He suffered so much, so that you would be justified. He is not counting your sins against you.2Corinth 5:19 KJV” To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.” No one must ever die for his sins. If you have not repented of your sins and made Jesus Lord of your life, then you may not benefit from that great sacrifice of Jesus. Jesus saved that woman that day. He has also legally saved you from eternal punishment, and a present satanic control of your life. You can also have the present peace that He gives all those who believe in Him. Would you refuse this amazing offer and allow the eternal tormentors to have you?

CONFESSION

Jesus my Lord is the great saviour, He has legally saved every one from all satanic bondage. I make use of this loving deed to surrender totally to Him. Thank you, Lord, for saving me.

THOUGHT: JESUS NEVER WANT YOU TORMENTED BY ANY TORMENTORS

EVIL TRAPS

KEY SCRIPTURE: John 8:6 KJV “This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.”

Hebrews 12:3 admonishes us as follows,” For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.” The Lord lived in a hostile world of people who consistently set traps to get Him ensnared, yet they failed every time. The enemy is hungry to get the righteous destroyed. Pro 4:16 KJV “For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.” The Lord Jesus was never free from questions upon questions, which were planned to make him err against God, the law or the Roman Emperor. He was always ready for them.

How was the Lord never caught up in their traps? Just as He instructed His disciples in Luke 21:15 that reads ” For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.’ He never answered anyone from His own understanding, but always trusted the Holy Spirit to provide answers that made His adversaries to leave wondering. When he was asked, whether it was right to pay taxes to Caesar or not? He asked them for a coin. He asked whose image is on the coin? He then answered, give to Caesar what is Caesar and to God what is God’s. Matt 22:17-21.

Every child of God would always face a world that would set up such traps to get you ensnared? As we go about sharing the gospel to the world, we would face such conditions. The Lord’s counsels us that, do not panic or try to figure out what to say. Just trust the Lord to speak through you. He said open your mouth and I will fill it. You can also do so by asking the Holy Spirit to give you what to say.

CONFESSION

I am a co labourer with the Lord. He is my helper in His harvest field. I do not speak my mind. He speaks through me. When the enemy uses men to attack me with questions to ensnare me , the Holy Spirit comes to my aid by answering them through me.

THE LAW A SCHOOL MASTER

KEY SCRIPTURE: John 8:5 KJV” Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?”

The laws are God’s holy statutes that He demands every man to obey. Various forms of punishments were prescribed for all persons who disobeyed them. The law was the terms of engagement of the old covenant. It was strictly an agreement between God and the Jewish people. The law was also described as a school master, that was to lead us to Christ Gal 3:24 KJV” Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.” If the law was a school master, leading us to Christ, then it was not the ultimate. The law was given for men to see their weakness at meeting God’s demands. Romans 3:19 KJV” Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

They brought the woman and said to Jesus, Moses said in the law that such a persons should be stoned. They wanted her dead because she had fallen short of the law. Man by nature likes to earn something by his efforts, to feel accomplished. That was the reason he despised God’s plan that made him complete, from the beginning of creation, and although he had everything under control. He chose to eat (to do something) to become like God. The law and its repressive judgements were not God’s original idea for men. God’s plan was a free man who will freely and lovingly serve Him. The Lord Jesus as our substitute and so He received God’s total punishment and judgement for all men. He took all sicknesses for all men (Isaiah 53:4-6) He totally conquered Satan, sin, death and poverty for men. Hebrews 2;14, Rom 6:6, Rev 1:18, 2 Tim 1;9&10. Jesus came to live in us through the new birth, and has given us the power of attorney to use His name, just like He was personally here. This was God’s original intent; a free man who lives as a king.1Co 3:21 KJV” Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours;”

The law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus. We are in this era of God’s grace. This time it is not just Emmanuel which means God with us, but God has come to live in us. We are the sons of God. The law is fulfilled in us. We are filled with the love of God. We do not curse and hate. We heal, set men free from Satan’s power, we show men the way of life. We do not cause pain to any one. We do not condemn any one. We lead men out of sin and its shackles. Sin does not have dominion over us , because we are no longer under the law. All these are not through our efforts, but we received them by faith in the great substitution work of our Lord Jesus Christ. Dear child of God, if your life is to find fault, condemn and inflict curses then you need to know you have forsaken the grace of God.

CONFESSION

The law revealed man’s failure grace crowned us kings, the law condemned us, grace liberated us, the law judged us by placing all sicknesses on us, grace put all sicknesses on Jesus. The law punished us by stoning us, grace crucified Jesus for us. Thank you, Father, thank you Lord, Thank you Spirit divine.

THOUGHT: THE BENEFITS OF GRACE LOOKS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, YET YOUR FAITH WILL MAKE IT REAL

MALTREATING WOMEN.

KEY SCRIPTURE: John 8:4 KJV” They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.”

These scribes and the Pharisees were evil accusers. Why did they leave the man but brought the woman? According to James 2:4 the word said they, acted in partiality, and therefore judges of evil thought. There is a tendency for people to maltreat, woman. There are some husbands who say women lack good judgement. This is a big error for any man to say. Women are endued with special intuition that makes them detect danger without giving any reason why that would occur. Men who hold such minds have signed up for a very dangerous life. They would take no counsel from their wives and would always come to her to say she was right. The woman in your home according to God, is a helper that God has brought to you. There are a few women, who through selfishness are not able to play the helping role effectively.

Again, why do certain men still maltreat women? They do so because they do not understand the make-up of woman. The bible says in 1 Pet 3:7 that the woman is the weaker vessel and so men should live with them according knowledge. A woman’s number one need is security. This is why the Lord asked the husband to love the wife. When a woman due to actions of the husband feels insecure, she would get to the extremes of her nature. If she is an introvert, she would be so withdrawn that the man would feel he is living with a dummy. If she is an extrovert, she will make hell for the man. All her actions explains she is seeking for that one need, security .

Men, please understand that, the woman was designed

1.To receive

2. To multiply.

She would multiply whatever you give her. If you give a tiny microscopic sperm, she would make it into a wonderful baby. If you give her a house with love, she would make it a wonderful welcoming home. In all these if you give her little trouble, she would multiply it and make it hell for you. This is the natural state of the women. The man is the initiator of most of what happens at home. Men be very considerate towards your wives.

Barring this natural state of women, I wish to advice Christian, born again wives to live according to the word of God. The Bible says wives submit to your own husband’s, irrespective of whether they love you or not. Your first allegiance is to God and His word. This would bring you a peaceful home.

CONFESSION

Women are not object of reproach and ridicule, but a bundle of beauty, tenderness and love. If their feminity is respected, and treated with love, they make the home a place of escape from the troubles outside.

THOUGHT:  GIVE YOUR WIFE TRUE LOVE AND ENJOY A HOME OF EXCESS LOVE.

MEN AND CONDEMNATION 2

KEY SCRIPTURE: John 8:3 KJV” And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,”

Many marriages are tension dominated. Wife is at husband’s throat, and vice versa.

A relationship that began to be ever happy after, has become ever fighting always.

What is the cause of this?  It is a self-condemning attitude deep down the hearts of the couples. Nearly a hundred percent unsatisfactory feeling, that many have about themselves proceed from a self-condemning attitude. This began in the garden of Eden, after Adam and Eve had sinned. They saw they were naked, resulting in fear, which later became accusations upon accusations. Those men who brought the woman to Jesus, were in the same dilemma.

What can save men from this inner cycle of defeat. The answer is in the cross of Christ. The Lord Jesus came to suffer and die for all of us, so that we could be identified with Him, in all that He did and went through for us. Romans 6:4 KJV “Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.” When a man expresses faith in Jesus, He is spiritually immersed into Christ by the Holy Spirit. The word immersed is translated baptizo in the Greek language. The scripture said we are baptized into His death, baptized into His resurrection, baptized into His righteousness. Every child of God is the very righteousness of God 2 Corinth 5:21. There is no more any sense of condemnation in the child of God. He has the very righteousness of God and must always carry that attitude. If he sins, he has broken that sweet fellowship with his Father and must quickly ask for forgiveness.

Jesus in the life of men coupled with clear teaching about the great substitution work of Christ will free all from the life of hatred to one another, manifesting true love, because that love of God has been shared abroad in our hearts. Religious zealots who are always filled with rage, accusations and constantly hurting others are probably lost in their sins. Come to Jesus today.

CONFESSION

I am in Christ Jesus, I am righteous with Jesus’ righteousness, I have the love of Christ in me. Christ is alive in me. I have no sense of condemnation, neither do I condemn anyone. My words bless, uplifts, heal and put a smile on the faces of all who come close to me. Oh, what a life!

THOUGHT:  IN CHRIST I AM NOT CONDEMNED, NEITHER DO I CONDEMN ANYONE.

Romans 8:34 KJV “Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.”

MEN AND CONDEMNATION

KEY SCRIPTURE: John 8:3 KJV” And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,”

I have noticed some group of persons talking among themselves, yet when an unknown person passes by, they make very bad comments about him or her. I ask why won’t people mind their own business? There seem to be a tendency to condemn others in most people.

Whiles the master sat teaching, some men brought a woman, and put this woman right in the centre of them. They spoke in unison, saying, this woman was caught in the very act of adultery. (The question is, does a woman commit adultery alone?) Why did they leave the man and brought only the lady to be stoned? They added that Moses stated in the law that such people should be stoned. Then they asked the Lord, what does He say about that? These men did not only come to condemn the woman, but to find a fault or grounds of accusation against the master, so they could kill Him.

Why would men want to condemn and hurt their fellow men? Such people are under external influences. Ephesians 2:2 KJV” Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience”: There is a power that would want to afflict others with pain, shame, and death, and they find some people to serve their purpose.

There are some Christians who have given themselves to such tendencies. Right in the midst of a church service, they would be speaking negative about their fellow Christians. They accuse and slander others.

Well, dear child of God, you are born of love and are the righteousness of God. The Spirit in you bears the fruit of love, which manifests itself in joy, peace, gentleness.  longsuffering faithfulness. goodness. meekness, self-control. Any other lifestyle is very strange to you. You are a lifter of men. This is who you are. Refuse to use your tongue to put anyone down. You do not cause pain rather you are a healer of pain.

CONFESSION

I am a lifter of men. I am an extension of the hand of God on this earth. My mind thinks well of all men, and my tongue encourages the weak. My heart is filled with a sincere love for everyone, for I am born of love.

THOUGHT:  VOW NEVER TO USE YOUR TONGUE TO PUT ANYONE DOWN.

Colossians 4:6 KJV. Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer

COMMITMENT TO WORK

KEY SCRIPTURE: Joh 8:2 BBE “And early in the morning he came again into the Temple and all the people came to him and he was seated teaching them.”

Our Lord Jesus is a very good example of one who was very diligent with His tasks. The Lord had spent the whole night praying, and should have been probably tired, needing some rest. He did not stay at home but as early as practicable he went to the temple awaiting the people. He said, in John 9:4, that,” My food is to do the pleasure of him who sent me and to make his work complete.

Some reasons why the Lord was so diligent;

1. Jesus worked very hard, because as a son who became a servant, he had to please the one who sent Him. 2 Tim 2:4.

2. He worked so hard, because there was a time frame for him to finish the work. John 9:4

3. He worked so hard because He loved the Father who sent Him. John 8:29

4. It brought him joy to work diligently.

This leaves us a good example to emulate. Every servant of God must approach the work with such urgency and dedication. This is what would win the approval of God our Father. There is going to be a day of reckoning, when everyone would be rewarded for what He or she did for the Lord. Please note that God rewards us mainly on the following grounds;

1. How best we followed his instructions to do the work. Gen 7:5

2. Secondly, we would be rewarded for how sincere and how diligently we worked. 2 Corinth 5:10

3. Then lastly, we would be rewarded for how much we achieved for Him. Rev 14:13

Apostle Paul depicts one who gave in everything to do so much for the master. He said , he does not count himself to have gotten to where he must be, or completed what has been given to him to do, but he presses on, so he would  attain the prize of the high calling of God Philippians 3:13  and 14( paraphrased)He also said in 1Corinth 15:10  that ” But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me. “Like Jesus he gave his best. Even when he had been stoned to death and came back alive, he did not go about pitying himself or taking some time to rest, he continued to the next town to preach the word. (Acts 14:19-22). At the end of His mission he said, 2Ti 4:7 KJV “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:

 He finished the task.

That is the crème of the work, finishing your assignment.

CONFESSION

I am committed to the task my heavenly father assigned to me. Nothing shall stop me from giving my best, and serving with a sincere heart. I will finish my course with gladness and will receive my crown of righteousness.

THOUGHT: WE MUST SERVE TO PLEASE OUR MASTER, BY COMPLETING THE TASK HE GAVE US.
