GOD PRODUCES THE BEST

KEY SCRIPTURE: John 2:10 KJV “And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.”

Man, always tries his best in all that He does, yet when God steps in, the game always changes. Jesus produced the best wine according to the master of the ceremony. He said in every feast the good wine is served first and after people are well satisfied the bad one is given. What is a good wine? The bible distinguishes between the types of wine the Jewish people used to have.

1.The new wine Prov 3:10, Isaiah 27:4, Isaiah 65:8 and

2. The old wine Luke 5:39

Old wines are fermented new wine. The new wines are the freshly pressed wines which are the better ones. The statement the master of the ceremonies made, saying when men have “well drunk”, does not mean when men were intoxicated after drinking the good or new wine. The statement means when men have drunk to their fill. You can drink a non-alcoholic drink to your fill. This does not mean you were intoxicated by it. The scriptures does not encourage intoxication.

Our focus of study for now is that God’s works are always the best. Our world is trying to push God out of our societies. Secularism means God is not factored into man’s equation, and therefore man lives to please himself.

When man is in charge of affairs, he destroys his fellow men.2 Timothy 3:1 state, there would be perilous, difficulty or evil times in the last days, why? Because men would be in charge of their affairs and doing what they like. In a fully blown secular system a few people welding a great amount of wealth can decide to control the population of the whole world. They can plan diseases to eradicate men, prevent simple treatment not to be used, so that many would die. As result of the many deaths, everyone would be afraid. In the course of the fears, they suggest a medication that can, probably prevent, or control the disease. Their suggested drug has no certain years of trials, giving any strong empirical grounds for its use. They manage to convince all, this has been proven to be good, use it that is the only way out.

People go for it because they are afraid.

If it turns out to be dangerous, they achieve their aim in wiping our humanity as they projected from the beginning. This is what extreme secularism can offer men.

When God is in charge, man does not see other humans as tools to get what he wants, but a fellow in God’s image with God’s potentials fully immersed in him. When God is in charge each individual is allowed to achieve his unique potential and the power of God works miracles to solve the universal problem of men. I wish to make this categorical statement, when God is to be in charge of our world, the resources of our earth shall always be sufficient for each present world population. It is the wickedness of men steered by secularism that put God out of our world system, and then the result is men manipulating their fellow men. God brings true freedom.

THOUGHT:  THE GREATEST MISTAKE OF MEN FOR ALL TIME, IS WHEN MEN PUT GOD OUT OF HIS SYSTEMS.

Rom 1:21 ,22,24 KJV “Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:”

MIRACLES FOLLOW OBEDIENCE

KEY SCRIPTURE: John 2:7 KJV “Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.”

Please read John 2:6-9

After the mother of Jesus asked the servants to act on every instruction the master gives them, they also went to Jesus expecting to receive certain instructions. The Lord asked them to fill the water pots with water. The servants quickly got them filled. Please note, those water pots were dish washing pots. They were not clean water meant for consumption. After they had filled them to the brim, He asked them to draw some and give it to the master of ceremonies to drink. Please come to think about this, that since it was not wholesome water, it would have been difficult to pick some and give the master of the ceremony, yet these servants were just ready to carry out any word Jesus tells them. I believe when they drew some for the master of the ceremony, it was still ordinary water, but just before he drank it, it became wine. Their obedience brought their results.

Life would have been easy for most people if they would just learn to follow instructions.

Someone defined faith as simply obeying what the Lord says.

When The Lord was at the tomb of Lazarus in John 11:39 & 40 he asked the sisters to role away the stone. They said he has been dead four days, and so it will be stinking. Jesus had to say that if they believe they would see the glory of God. Their unreadiness to move away the stone meant that, they did not believe…Their brother Lazarus could only be raised after they had rolled away, they stone.

Miracles don’t happen out of the blue; they are worked out. They come by following instructions of faith. Are you expecting a financial miracle start giving, in obedience to the scripture that says, Luke 6:38 KJV “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom…? ” In Mark 5 when Jairus who had invited Jesus to heal her daughter head she was dead, the Lord told him, do not be afraid only believe. The Lord went to the house and said to the mourners, why these noise and tears, the girl is only sleeping. He then went to where she laid, and drove everyone from there except, the Father and His three disciples. It was after these acts of faith, that He raised the girl. What are the steps of faith you have to take to finally see your miracle? The occasion would offer those steps; make sure you take each step with full confidence in God.

THOUGHT:  YOUR OBEDIENCE OF FAITH WOULD GIVE BIRTH TO YOUR MIRACLE.

WHAT MOVES GOD?

KEY SCRIPTURE: John 2:4 KJV “Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.’

In our last study we got to where Mary the mother of Jesus went to Him and requested for a miracle of producing wine. Wines could be obtained by buying, if they ran out. The only other means to get it, is to work a miracle to bring it to being. The Lord addressed her as ‘woman’ and not mother. This was not an insult, He used the same term when He was on the cross, John 19:26. Jesus is also God, and at certain occasions He spoke and even received worship as God.

The Lord completed the statement this way, ” Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come”. He said to her my moment for working miracles is not ready yet. This was an unexpected answer at such a crucial moment as that. It is like praying about a situation, but instead of things turning out well it gets worse. This is where many loose their miracle. They throw in the towel.

Please never give up on God.

Mary, instead of bowing her head in shame went to the servants at the ceremony, and asked them to go to Jesus, and whatever He tells them, they should do it. Mary acted on her faith in the Lord. This act of hers caused the Lord to respond, although He said, it was not His hour. True faith in God would move Him to act whether it is His time or not. (This is an occasion when the answer can’t wait)

Faith is allowing the word to act through you, and God is the word. So, faith is God acting through you.

Since He started the act through you, He consummates it with the results.

Mary’s example opens up a great truth to us. When the Lord’s answer was negative, she did not say, I am believing for something to happen. No, she set the first step by asking the servants to go to Jesus. What are you doing about the condition you claim you are believing for? If you are anticipating to get pregnant for instance, start buying the baby’s cloths, get the baby’s cot. You can even start wearing your maternity dresses. You may do all these as a response to your faith in the word you have received. If you’ve been prayed for about some sickness, please rise from the sick bed. Faith is the substance of things hoped for.

Your action expresses that confidence in God, which is also, the substance of the thing you are hoping for.

The evidence of your faith is your action.

WHEN CHALLENGES COME

KEY SCRIPTURE: John 2:3 KJV” And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.”

Jesus and his new disciples were at the wedding ceremony. They soon realised there was a challenge. The wine had run out. Marriages always have some challenge of some kind that may hit it. This  marriage was a fresh one, barely a day old and it was met with the first difficulty. In our current world we would say the drinks have run short. The joy of the party is available drinks for everyone. Problems in marriage have varying sources or causes. They may be

1. Self imposed

2. Accidental

3. Unidentifiable sources

4. External family Influences

5. Other people creating that problem for the couple

6. Financial insufficiency

7.Character incompatibilities

8. Poor communications

9. Conception difficulties

10. Demonic origin

and many more

The above problem from our bible story could be attributed to

1 poor planning or

2. Good planning yet, their expected witnesses, exceeded their projection.

3. Just insufficient funds

I believe the couple were the first to be hinted, that the wine had run out. We read that it was Madam Mary who went to Jesus and asked for help. This meant the couple had no clue as to what to do. Scripture did not say anything about their reaction to the need. This condition could have generated a sharp rift between the couple or the couple and the person who was put in charge of the wine. Different people react differently to challenges. Some take such shortcomings too personal that, they lose every sense of moderation and just explode, saying whatever comes to mind. At the end, they realise they have made certain irreparable damages. James 1:19,20 gives us an advice on how to prevent such a thing from happening. Another person may internalise it and just pass out or collapse. What do you do.?

Blessed Mary the mother of Jesus who heard about the situation did none of the above. She did not allow the situation to overwhelm her. She had been considering all that has been prophesied about Jesus, and so knew that, this was within His power to bring a solution. He went to the Lord and told Him about the need. If she had no faith in Jesus at that hour, she would not have gone to him, for a solution. As a child of God, you should be ready for challenges by building your faith in God and His word. Faith always comes by hearing and hearing the word of God. Don’t just hear it, do what it says, and your faith would be ready to stand the challenges that come.

THE FAMILY: BASIC UNIT OF THE SOCIETY

KEY SCRIPTURE: John 2:1 KJV “And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:”

I wish to remind all patrons of these studies that, we are still looking at our major topic ‘

a walk with Jesus through the gospels.’ In our key scripture the mother of Jesus was invited to a marriage ceremony at Cana. I believe the mother of Jesus might be known to the couple in one way or the other. At this time the Lord had about four disciples, namely, Andrew, Peter, Philip and Nathaniel. They joined the Lord to the wedding ceremony. The Lord as we know Him does not go anywhere on impulse, or because he was invited. He went because he was convinced to go. It also shows how important marriage is.

Marriage is God’s idea. It is always between a man and a woman. This kind of marriage was not done in an official church building. Well, there were no church halls as we have now. I will humbly submit that, when couples want their marriages blessed at the family locations where the ceremony is being held, Pastors should be ready to go there and have it blessed, vows exchanged, and rings given. The signing of the marriage certificate could be done at the church office, for the purposes of the statutory requirements. Having a wedding at the church is most welcome as well. The options should be the couple’s choice.

We live in a world where certain satanists want to change the fundamental requirements of marriage. They call for the coupling of man and a man, or a woman and a woman. God calls it an abomination. Levi. 18:22.

Rom 1:26 KJV ” For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature”. Please note: In satanic worship one way to spite or insult God is to do things against the natural way or normal order. Any such acts give devils strong grounds to possess their victims. God’s judgement would surely come on such people. Pastors, Bishops or priests who encourage such marriages are blind to the fact that, EVERY LESBIAN OR HOMOSEXUAL IS UNDER DEMONIC POSSESSION.

A marriage between a man and woman is the only Godly acceptable marital union, which is healthy and gives no psychological hang ups to the children. The family forms the basis for a well-structured society. The family should be well functioning and knitted together. This will make for a better happy society. Today there are too many disjointed homes, with the ripple effect on the larger communities. If we want great nations, then let’s focus on building working families.

OPEN HEAVENS

KEY SCRIPTURE” John 1:51 KJV” And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.”

We continue our discussion between the Lord Jesus and Nathaniel. The Lord earlier told Nathaniel, that He is going to show Him greater things than the one He’s shown him. He went on to explain that from then, he, Nathaniel was going to see the heavens opened and angels ascending and descending on the Son of Man. The Lord meant He was going to operate under open heavens, where there would be great manifestations, because angels would be bringing solutions in the form of miracles, as they come and go. Note: every one or group of people genuinely operating a miracle ministry, are operating under open heavens.

To have an open heavens means a life of experiencing God’s favour in all dimensions

When Moses was narrating the curses of the law In Deut 28:23 he said, “And thy heaven that is over thy head shall be brass, and the earth that is under thee shall be iron.” This statement means, their heavens would be shut due to their sinfulness. Brass is an alloy, or a combination of two metals, zinc and copper. This talks about something which is impure. Their acts of impurity were going to close the heavens to them, such that nothing of God comes to them, and they cannot reach God as well. Isaiah 59:2 KJV” But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.” This explanation also buttresses the point that, the ears of the Lord are opened to the cry of the righteous, for they have an open heavens.

The scriptures also speak of certain acts that opens up the heavens to an individual.

1. Through the Spirit of prophecy Ezekiel 1:1

2. Payment of our tithe opens up the heavens Mal 3:10

3. Diligence in prayer Luke 3:21

Back to our Lord’s statement, the Lord had a perpetual opening of the heavens above Him.  When a man is born again, he has resurrected with Christ and therefore comes into this same atmosphere of the angels ascending and descending on Christ. He inherits everything that the Lord experienced. The word said we live in heavenly places in Christ. (Eph 2:6) We are also blessed with every spiritual blessing in heavenly places (Eph 1:3). This includes enjoying an open heaven as well.

In Ephesians 1:6, it reads ” To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.”

The word accepted used for those in Christ means, most cherished, charming agreeable.

These are the qualities that endeared the Father to open up the heavens to an individual. Dear Saint in Christ you are living in Christ under opened heavens. It is your faith in the truth that makes it your experience.

Why don’t most saints see this?

1 Because of lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6)

2 Unbelief in the word (Heb 4:2)

3 A life of disobedience. 2 Corinth (6:16-18)

CONFESSION

Christ is my dwelling place. I am cherished, and blessed.  All the blessings in Christ are mine. I live under an open heavens, where angels keep ascending and descending with blessings, miracles of provisions of various forms. I am highly favoured and all my needs are supplied. AMEN.

GREATER MANIFESTATIONS

KEY SCRIPTURE: John 1:50 KJV “Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee under the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater things than these.”

God our father is not a static God. He keeps increasing His glory or works from one level to a higher one. He always does new things. Isaiah 43:19 KJV” Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.” This is the hallmark about our Father. His steadfast love is new every morning. The Lord said to Nathaniel, because I said, I saw you under the fig tree, you believe, I am going to show you greater things than this. Is your Christian experience stagnant and dry? I have news for you. The Lord want to do greater things with you and through you.

What must you do? You need to leave the carnal plain into the Spirit level. Do you remember that in Matt 16::15-18, when the Lord Jesus asked his disciples, who do you say that I am? Peter answered, thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. The Lord added that it is not flesh and blood that revealed this to you, but my Father who is in Heaven. Peter functioned from the spirit in that hour.

In Nathaniel’s statement about Jesus, he said, you are the Son of God, the King of Israel. As the Lord said to Peter, this was not also from his natural mind, but from the Spirit of God. For a Jew to say someone is a Son of God means He is God (John 10:30-33). It does not come form a Jews own thinking to make such a statement, except God inspires him.

Now because Nathaniel was operating from the spiritual plain the Lord said He was going to show him greater manifestations. The Lord said, you do not give your precious pearls to swine Matt 7:6. Those who function from the flesh are likened to swine, for they keep going back into filth, even after being washed. To experience greater things of the Spirit then start exercising yourself in the Spirit. Give attention to the word of God. Fellowship with the brethren. Walk in love towards all Practice the word. He will start giving you more success in various aspects of life.

Psalms 1:1-3 He would make you a blessing to others in various ways.

GOD SEES YOU

KEY SCRIPTURE: Joh 1:48 KJV “Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee.”

After the Lord remarked about the sincerity of Nathaniel, he asked the Lord when did you know me? The Lord answered, before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you. God is all knowing, ever present

and all powerful. This should be a comforting news to every child of God, especially in this uncertain world of ours. The psalmist put it this way, Psalms 139:2 KJV “Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.” The Lord knows everything about us.Even the thoughts of our head are bare before Him. To the one who is mischievous this should move you to change your ways. Psalms 75:7 says “God is the judge, and He promotes the upright and puts down the froward for, He sees every action.

Knowing that God sees everything about us, how should we live and relate with Him?

1 This must deepen our prayer life. In prayer we worship a very present and personal God. When we make request in prayer, we know He heard us, and according to His word He has answered us Mark 11:24. Talk to the Father as you would speak to a person standing with you.

2 We must live in great fear of Him, knowing every deed is open before Him. Every act of dishonesty must be thrown away.

3 We must give no place to fear of danger because He is ever ready to protect us Isaiah 43:2. He that watches over Israel, would not slumber or sleep. You can go to sleep then Ps 121:1-3

4 Knowing that He is present and sees all things we must not be anxious about anything. He calls on us to leave all our cares with Him. (Phil 4:6&7, 1 Peter 5:7. He says, He knows the number of hairs on your head. Matt 10:30. It is your worry and anxiety, that deprives you of His power of protection.

I will give the following illustration to buttress our topic of discussion. I was once watching a man of God preach on the television. I made a negative comment about his style of preaching. Right then I had a call from another person about three kilometres away, who said to me that the Lord is asking her to tell me not to make such comments about His servants. She said the Lord says, I have no idea about the kind of sacrifices this man of God has made for Him. She even went on to mention the name of the man of God I was watching. Beloved this individual was no where near me. I was also alone in my room. I did not make a vocal comment. I said it in my mind, yet the Lord who knows and sees all things knew what I was saying, and communicated it to another person to tell me. Dear ones, nothing passes God’s all-seeing eyes. You are never alone.

SINCERITY 3

KEY SCRIPTURE: John 1:47 KJV “Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!”

Sincerity is such an important topic, worthy of clarity and understanding. One character of the scripture that teaches us about sincerity is Joseph. Joseph was the first son of Rachel, the choice of Jacob among his two wives. Joseph was very dear to his father, meaning he stayed very close to him. Joseph would certainly receive lots of tutelage from Jacob his father, whose life went through so much pain, because of insincerity in his youthful years. He would not want his cherished son to go through that kind of experience he went through. Parents, make sure you instruct your children about walking in the paths of truth always. Remember to set the right examples for them. A good example is the best gift you can give your child.

In Gen 37:2, Joseph would never condone with his brothers to conceal the wrong things they did as they sent out   their flocks to graze. When Joseph found himself in Potiphar’s house his sincerity, which won him God’s favour, soon distinguished him, among the many slaves there. His master put everything in the house under his care. The Bible said Potiphar’s wife cast her eyes on Joseph and said, lie with me. (Gen 39:7). When she demanded sex from Joseph, he said the following to her Gen 39:9 KJV “There is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God? In Joseph’s answer to the woman, two things stood out.

1. Great wickedness against his master

2. Sin against God.

The above points stated by Joseph are basically the two major requirement for sincerity, and they are apparently the two main commandments stated by the Lord Jesus. Matt 22:37,39

1. Love the Lord with all thy heart, soul and mind.

2. Love your neighbour as yourself.

The first point also amounts to fearing the Lord. Fear for God is to depart from evil. To demonstrate sincerity, you place God first, others second, yourself last. To turn the order, the other way round is what breeds insincerity of various forms. whether it is unfaithfulness in marriage, stealing from your boss, manipulating others to extort from them, politicians stealing state funds or any form, the basis is going against the order Jesus has set for us. In Joseph’s story his sincerity rewarded him to become the next in command to the king. Great rewards await you, so be sincere.

SINCERITY 2

KEY SCRIPTURE: John 1:47 KJV “Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!”

We continue with our discussion on our previous study. In the thought for our last discussion, we said insincerity is self deception of the highest order. Self deception leads to self destruction. There has never been a glorious end to any person committed to acting against the word. The following scripture explains it clearer Rom 2:9 KJV” Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;” INSINCERE people are basically very fearful and so tend to protect their supposed interest. Fear weakens an individual’s morals, and makes him subjective to the least pressure that a situation may give. Your way out is to surrender your will to the Lord.

For one to properly respond to the word of God, he needs to be convicted about the truth. Conviction as much as, it is the work of the Holy Spirit, is initiated by the will of man to submit to the promptings of the Holy Spirit.

In the light of your decision to submit to the Holy Spirit, please acknowledge that your birth into Christ made you a son of God. A son who is born of the Spirit, must demonstrate the life of the Spirit. Living an upright sincere life is natural with you. Renew your mind to think that way. God’s word is the tool for such renewal of mind. Commit yourself to stuffing your mind and heart with the word Of God. Just consider what the word says about itself. 2 Tim 3:16 Ampc.  “Every Scripture is God-breathed (given by His inspiration) and profitable for instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and discipline in obedience, [and] for training in righteousness (in holy living, in conformity to God’s will in thought, purpose, and action)”,.If you would be dedicated to God’s word it would build in you that consciousness of an upright person.

Finally, always maintain the consciousness that, you are a very sincere person. Your actions would always point towards how you see yourself. Tell yourself you are a sincere person. Please say to yourself, ‘I always live for the truth, for it is only the truth the sets free”. Whenever you are tempted to be crooked just say’ I refuse to be insincere for that is not my nature’. As you consistently fight the urge to be insincere you would soon realise it is your normal way of life to act sincerely.
