KEY SCRIPTURE: Joh 8:51 KJV” Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.”

Our Lord Jesus kept revealing truths about who He was to His Jewish audience. This time, He made a statement that confused His hearers. He stated that, if a man should keep, guard or live by His sayings, that person would not see death. This saying caused His audience to say that how could He say such a thing, seeing Abraham and all the prophets are dead, you indeed have a devil. These people did not know who Jesus was. Many in our days also do not know who He is and so are really missing so much, for not paying attention to what He says. The Lord in the earlier chapters is talking about eternal life, which is the life of God that He imparts to us, which also will make us live forever in His presence. Our key scripture throws more light on this eternal life and the operation of the word in us.

What is death? In 1st Corinth 15:26, the scriptures said that the last enemy that would be destroyed is death”. Death from this scripture is revealed as an enemy. Meaning it is a personality. At the creation of man the Lord God informed Adam and Eve our first parents that on the day, they ate the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, they will die. They disobeyed, and therefore died spiritually, and later died physically. At this very stage, we see death coming into action when the word of God is broken and rebelled against. Thirdly, the scriptures also reveal death as a power to separate the spirit of man, that makes a man live on this earth, from his body. This makes the man physically dead. James 2:26 KJV” For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.” In a similar vein, when the Spirit of God departs from the spirit of man, the word reveals, that person is spiritually dead.

The above is the power and operation of death. The word of God says the following, Prov 4:20-22 KJV” My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings, Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.” The above scripture is the word of our Lord Jesus, who is God, and also said, my words are spirit and life John 6:63. It is just true that if a man should diligently guard and keep the words of the Lord in him, life would continually function in Him and death would not overtake him. The word of the Lord Jesus is the SEED OF IMMORTALITY. According to the scriptures, if a man does not allow the world and its teachings and ways to model or shapes him, but renews his mind with the words of God, He will prove or produce that which is good, perfect and acceptable will of God. Rom 12:2. By this scripture one can prove the will of God in three levels.

1. Good

2. Acceptable

3. Perfect

Proving the perfect will has been the challenge of most men. Enoch walked with God so perfectly, God took him bodily from this earth.  Gen 5:24 KJV “And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.”

Please just consider the following scripture in Hebrews 6:5 ” And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come”. It talks about tasting the good word of God and the powers of the age to come. What is the powers of the age to come? This is when Christ comes for the second time and there shall be no more death, sorrow or pain. Rev 21:4.

 The scripture says one can taste it now.

It is the tasting or feeding on the good word of God that carries us into participating in the powers of the age or world to come.

The word of God is Spirit and life. I guard myself with the word of God and keep it in my heart. I do not allow it to leave my eyes. It is therefore life unto me and health unto all my flesh. Death has no place in me. Glory be to the Lord.

Hebrews 2:14 KJV “Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;”

KEY SCRIPTURE: John 8:50 KJV” And I seek not mine own glory: there is one that seeketh and judgeth.”

The Lord Jesus said to His audience that, He does not seek His own glory. He had come to honour His Father on the earth. He, therefore, did everything to fulfil the Father’s mission. What does it involve in seeking the glory of the Father.? It involves basically, doing the will of the Father. Heb 10:7 KJV” Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.”

One must suppress his own ambitions to project the Father’s.

 Life is all about living out God’s agenda. This is what makes life meaningful.

 The misery of living is to live against the will of God.

Matters become worse when men decide not to hold God in their memory. Rom 1:28 KJV” And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; “Man in that state lives against the natural order, and becomes an enemy of himself.

 He receives a reprobate mind. He craves and searches for reality, yet it eludes him because he perpetuates more errors.

 Now when a man understands life is all about living for God’s interest, he comes to the end of struggling with challenges.

He understands that there is no more contest that he is to face personally. Every battle is the Lord’s. David easily conquered Goliath because he was living for God’s glory.1Sam 17:47 KJV And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the LORD’S, and he will give you into our hands.”

 David was overconfident about victory because he was all out for God’s glory.

God CAN NOT fail such a person. His failure is God’s failure.

 There is so much pain, defeat and misery among many Christians because they are not living for God.

They face and struggle out every life difficulty themselves They do face life challenges without His power because the honour and glory go for themselves. Dear one would you repent from this life of the cycle of failure? Decide for a life of sure victory and success. This condition is revealed in the allegory of Jesus’ illustration of the vine and its branches, with the Father as the gardener or the husbandman. We bear fruit for him, and he also takes care of everything that concerns us.

Dear one you can choose to end that life of tension, defeat and all the unnecessary reproaches. I call them unnecessary because you are not to carry any reproach. It is His duty to bear them.

I have found the secret to a happy successful life. I live only for God’s glory. I do not face any life challenges with my strength, but as I trust Him He comes through to defend His name

Rom 10:12 KJV” For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.”

KEY SCRIPTURE: John 8:49 KJV “Jesus answered, I have not a devil; but I honour my Father, and ye do dishonour me.”

The Lord’s discourse with the Jewish leaders reveals so many things about Jesus’ reaction to different responses. In this instant, the Jewish leaders responded quite offensively to Him. They said the following to Jesus Joh 8:48 KJV ” Then answered the Jews, and said unto him, Say we not well that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a devil? ,” To call him a Samaritan was a reproach. The Samaritans were regarded as heretic, schismatic or separatist group. The Jews indeed had no religious regard for the Samaritans. They added that He also had a devil. To say such a thing to a Jew in the days of our Lord was very disgusting.

The Lord was never infuriated by their negative remarks, why? People get offended at what others may be saying to them, because of pride and arrogance. They relate to others with a very high sense of ego. Such people easily get offended because they speak with their reputation in mind. This should never be the motive or attitude of the child of God. Every Christian is not just carrying his cross, he is dead to self and alive unto God Gal 2:20. It is Jesus who is alive in you. We relate with men to express the love, longsuffering and goodness of our Lord Jesus to them, so we would be able to win them. We never defend our reputation. In actual fact, we do not have any reputation of ours to keep. IT IS JESUS’ REPUTATION which is at stake, and that is kept through our love and humility. Rom 15:3 KJV” For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me.”

In Acts 26:18 the Lord Jesus gave apostle Paul the focus of his ministry to all them that he was being sent to. Act 26:18 KJV” To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me”.

Our Lord had the same motive when communicating to His audience. Their negative or positive reaction was not going to make Him act in a way to defeat His agenda.

His focus or objective for sharing with them were as follows:

1. To open their eyes

2. To turn them from darkness to light

3. Set them free from Satan’s power to the Lord

4. That they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among the saints

The last aspect could occur after His resurrection, yet He spoke to people with this motive. How can you be offended with the very people you are trying to reach?

These above points should always be our underlying motive, to communicate to those lost in sin. Apostle James wrote the following, James 1:19 KJV” Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:”

Our words must always edify or build up our hearers and express the humility of our master Jesus to them. SPEAK TO WIN MEN FOR CHRIST, AND NOT TO DEFEND YOURSELF OR PRIDE.

CONFESSION

I have been sent to win my World for Jesus, I do not allow their responses, whether negative or positive to derail me from my motive. I speak with love so that I may be able to win them.

KEY SCRIPTURE: John 8:46 KJV” Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me?”

In the first part of our key scripture, the Lord asked His audience who could accuse Him of one wrong. He said this to imply that, He speaks only the truth. He is the truth, and men must believe Him. We can totally rely on Him. No one ever found himself at a loss who ever trusted in Jesus. In Him, the promises of God, are not yes and no. Every promise of God in Christ is yes.2 Corinth 1:19,20. Jesus is the surety of the promises of God. Heb 7:22 KJV “By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament.” The Lord Jesus guarantees the fulfilment of God’s will to men.

He has become the surety of the new covenant because:

1. He fulfilled all the requirements of the law, which makes your faith in Him a certain ground for acceptance before the father. Rom 10:4 KJV “For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.”

2. His death and resurrection consummated every legal requirement to acquit us or justify us. Rom 5:9 KJV” Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.”

3. The Lord is presently alive to enforce every sacrifice he made for us by giving himself as a substitute for us.

In the light of the above, every promise is not yet to be fulfilled but has already been settled by our Lord Jesus. This is why the scripture said the promises are not yes and no, but rather in Him, they are ALL YES.O what a saviour!!

Dear one, you must totally place your faith in whatever He has said. He has proven to be a worthy saviour.” And we desire that every one of you does shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end:” Heb 6:11. This is God’s expectation of you, that you show every diligence to hold on to his word as given to us. This is the truth, and the truth always makes one free. Today as you read or listen to this message the Lord of glory stands beside you, the healer of all sicknesses is just with you, and the solution to every question has opened His arms reader to grant you that needed answer. Rejoice at this hour place that matter before Him. You can speak in His name to the condition if its source is the devil. “And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.” John 14:13

If it is something threatening your peace, just thank Him for his protection and then rest in Him. Do not worry, or fret anymore. Your case is settled. Rejoice and rest soundly in His name.

The Lord Jesus looked into the eyes of His opposers and said to them, none of you can accuse me of any sin. He meant; He was sinless? Sin means an error, falsehood or imposture. A doctrine is to be rejected if the one presenting it, is an imposter. In the Lord’s case they could not accuse Him of one wrong act. These people would have readily pointed to some wrong act of His, if there was any.

Dear preacher, pastor, Bishop or who are you? Are you an imposter?

 An imposter is one who deliberately presents himself for what he is not.

All humans make mistakes, yet there are some who intentionally walk in deception yet, they are the most out spoken people against the very things they are involved in. These are imposters. Men remain God’s. main means of communicating his word and His ways to fellow men. Every minister must know that one’s lifestyle has a great deal to tell on the impact of his message on his hearers.

 No matter how pure water may be, if it is served from a dirty vessel, it will contaminate the end user.

The minister must therefore live with a sincere conscience to live very upright. The following was apostle Paul’s policy, Act 24:16 KJV “And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offence toward God, and toward men.”

The Lord at this instant said that He was sinless. In Matthew 19:17, the Lord said to the rich young man, who enquired about what good thing could one do to enter into life? The Lord answered, no one is good, only God. Did that mean there was any sin  with Him ?In that moment ,the Lord intended to  answer his enquirer to show that , it does not take good deeds to enter into  life, (but rather men are saved by grace through faith).He spoke in such a way for His enquirer to know that no man is good, although the man went ahead to justify that, he was very upright by obeying all the commandments .Well Jesus is God and so by claiming only God is good He was saying, He was sinless 4:15 KJV “For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.”

 CONFESSION

The Lord Jesus lived a sinless life. By our birth into Him, we have received grace to live above sin. By maintaining a good conscience, void of offence towards God and man we keep our vessels free from presumptuous sins. The ministry is therefore not blamed.

THOUGHT: UPRIGHTNESS RESULTS FROM A DECISION TO STAY UPRIGHT AND A RELIANCE ON THE PERFECT SPIRIT IN US.

2 Corinth 4:2 KJV” But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.”

2 Corinth 6:3 KJV” Giving no offence in any thing, that the ministry be not blamed:”

KEY SCRIPTURE: John 8:45 KJV” And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.”

In the above key scripture, the Lord said the Jewish leaders would not believe Him, because He told them the truth. This could also imply, if he had told them a lie, then they would have believed it. Why is this so?

The following are some of the conditions that make people refuse the truth, but accept the lie.

1. According to John 3:19″ And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil”. Sinfulness in man makes him hardened to the word of truth and rather accept error. Heb 3:13 says the deceitfulness of sin hardens the heart of men to the truth.

2. Deceit normally entices the flesh and so men would easily fall for it. When the Lord rebuked Satan speaking by Peter’s voice, said ” Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men”. Matt 16:23. Satan knows how much men love their flesh and anything that tends to put the flesh down is not an issue many would want to take. They would go for what would excite the flesh.

3. When the lust of people go for those they want to hear.2Ti 4:3 KJV “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

4. Those who are enemies of the cross of Christ will not accept or believe in the truth. Phi 3:18 19 KJV (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)

Please note, that a Christian who is self-centred cannot believe the Lord. Believing in Jesus involves casting your life on His word. Those who love themselves are scared for their lives, yet sadly they would believe the liar (Satan) who would tell them he will destroy them. They are taken with fear. Dear one, break free from the control of the flesh and enter into faith in God.

CONFESSION

I believe every word Jesus says. I am crucified with him. I have no regard for the liar. The Lord is with me. The Lord is the strength of my life. I am fully secured by His word. No evil will befall me. No disease, or poverty will stick itself to me.

THOUGHT: PLACE GOD’S INTEREST BEFORE YOURS, SO YOU CAN EASILY BELIEVE HIM.

KEY SCRIPTURE: Eph 6:11 KJV” Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”

We have learnt about the fundamental nature of Satan. We saw he is a murderer and totally consumed by the lust to kill. His tool for ensnaring his victims is by deception or lies. God’s provision to overcome his lies and schemes is the armour of God. The Lord suggests that we must be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Eph 6:10. To do this, God has given us armour.

 We are only strong to the degree we are able to make use of the armour of God.

We are not fighting or wrestling against flesh and blood, but against

1. Principalities or chiefs, or first in rank of Satan’s angels

2. Powers or authorities

3. Rulers of the darkness of this age

4. spiritual wickedness. These are those spirits that perpetuate all the immorality and the prevailing evil.

They all operate through deceptions. The bible calls it wiles or deceit, cunning arts, or trickery.

 Satan is not too strong, he is strong to the degree that, he is able to deceive you

Now let’s take a look at the armour

1. TRUTH on your loins: Feed your mind with the truth. Tie it to your mind and believe it

2. Breastplate of righteousness or forsake every sinful way. Every unrighteous way, lands you in spiritual darkness, that gives Satan charge over you.

3. Prepare yourself to share the good news of peace, always

4. Build your faith strong and be ready to stop the enemy on any grounds

5. Maintain your hope of the coming salvation (The coming of the Lord)

6. Take up the word of God, ready to apply it against every onslaught of the devil.

7. Pray always with all prayer.

A good look at the armour refers to the word of God in totality. This means by giving the word right off way in your life, or you practise whatever it says, you would be ready always to face and overcome the devil any day.

CONFESSION

I am committed to the word of God. I feed my heart with the word. The word in totality is the wisdom of God. It is the power of God and gives me absolute victory always.

KEY SCRIPTURE Joh 8:44 KJV” Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.”

The Lord goes further to talk more about the nature of the devil. This time, He reveals that Satan is a liar.

 Everything he says is to deceive.

He is an embodiment of lies and deception. The Lord said that Satan is the father of lies. In Rev 12:9 the bible says he deceives the whole world. This is a very profound revelation.  He is also revealed as the god of this world. 2 Corinth 4:4 and controls the systems of our world.

May we make a few deductions from the nature of the devil?

1. As a liar he does not have the final ability to afflict, but always counts on one’s acceptance of the lies to be able to get him or her ensnared. This means your ability to stick to the truth as revealed from God’s word will ultimately make you a winner. John 8:32 reminds us that, by remaining with the truth, we shall be surely made free. Gird your loins, which is your minds with the truth

2. These are a few things to learn about liars.

(A) Liars say they have what they don’t have

(B) Liars say they have done what they have not done.

(C) Liars say they can do what they cannot do.

On these three facts about the devil, you can stand to resist whatever he tells you.

Even when you can evidently see the condition in your body, so long as it is his works, it is a lie. As a liar what he says he has done in your body or to your body is a lie. Some have gotten certain conditions in their bodies becoming worse, to the point of killing them. All began with a symptom, and the enemy suggested they were going to die. They believed it, and started confessing, that they were going to die.

A family who have lived healthily for a while woke up one morning to find their last daughter very sick. They took her to the hospital, but the doctor could not diagnose the condition. This child could not sleep for the next two weeks. She was sent to a paediatrician, who observed her and checked her blood genotype, and said she was a sickle cell. The father has been an official blood donor with an AA genotype. They were tested at that moment and the results came as they were all sickle cell. When they called to tell me, I responded by saying this is the nonsense of the devil. They joined me at our miracle service that evening, and that was the end of that affliction for the whole family. The little girl slept continuously for about three days and the affliction was over. The father still donates blood. Satan is a terrible liar and be ever ready to resist and refuse his lies.

CONFESSION

Jesus is the truth, and the devil is the liar, he takes advantage of people through his lies.I likewise fill my heart with the truth. The truth sets me free and my path is made brighter because I live by the truth.

THOUGHT: RESOLVE TO STAY WITH THE WORD AND YOU WOULD NEVER STAY BOUND

Rev 12:9 KJV “And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.”

KEY SCRIPTURE: Joh 8:44 KJV “Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar and the father of it.”

The Lord said the children of the devil act like their father. They are murderers. In Jesus’ day, they were scheming to murder Him. This trend has not changed. Our world is becoming more and more dangerous because men hate their fellow men.1Jn 3:15 KJV “Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.” It is the absence of eternal life or the life of God that produces all this wickedness. Most homes are boiling with anger, unfaithfulness, fighting and what have you? No matter the offence, God never approves of hatred for anyone.

Our divorce courts are overloaded with countless cases of couples applying for a divorce. The Bible spoke of perilous times in the last days because men will love themselves and hate one another. Selfishness is the very nature of Satan, and it is reflected in his children. Most people are not content with what they have, but are rather envious of what others have and they are.

 Some become so mad with envy that, the presence of the person they envy spells pain in their emotions such that, the only relief they can have, is the elimination of that individual.

This should not be so with the children of God. The child of God has the nature of his father. This is unconditional love. This love places so much value on all humans. It is the love of the new man. It is patient, it is kind, it is forgiving, and It does not misbehave. There cannot be divorce where this love of God is in operation. There would not be evil speaking and all the mistrust at home and workplace. Our world is hurting with so much pain, as a result of selfishness. It is time we project a new kind of love. The selfless Love of our new nature. This is the Jesus kind of Love. John 13:34 KJV” A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.” The Lord gave us His example that we must follow. It is, as he loved us. He laid His life for us, and we must do the same for others. We have indeed received that ability to walk in that love.

CONFESSION

God my father is love and so I am filled with His kind of Love. A selfless, sacrificing, forgiving love, that flows from my inner man, which is created after God in true righteousness. This love sets me free.

THOUGHT:  LET’S FILL OUR WORLD WITH THE JESUS LOVE SO WE END THE SELFISHNESS

KEY SCRIPTURE: John 8:44 KJV Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.”

The Lord went on to say that Satan is a murderer. Coupling this trait and his lust makes him, one that no man must underrate in any way.

A story is told about an elderly woman who kept a python as her pet. She has been feeding the reptile from babyhood, till it grew to become huge. After some time this creature will not eat, whenever the woman gave it food. She was worried so she informed a zoologist about it. The man told her, ‘your pet was staying away from food to swallow you up since you would be the first large prey she has ever swallowed’. A murderer is a murderer any day.

The Lord said the thief would not come, but when he comes then he is in to steal, kill and destroy. John 10:10b.

Now if men would have to die to receive a transition into a higher state in the presence of God, then the devil might be serving God’s purpose in murdering them. This is not the case. God calls death, the last enemy.1Co 15:26 KJV “The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.” The word of God instructs us to glorify God in our body and in our spirit. (1 Corinth 6:20).

God’s plan for men to exit this life is either by living bodily as in the case of Enoch, and Elijah, or after fulfilling the purposes for which God brought him or her into this life, he steps into eternity not weak, diseased or the body totally humiliated. The Patriarchs were full of years and left not sick. Jacob on his death bed sat up when Joseph visited with his sons and blessed them before he gave up the ghost.

Satan does not have the authority to take anyone’s life. Heb 2:14 KJV” Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;” In Rev 1:18, the Lord appeared to John and said, the keys of death and hell are in his hands. This means the right to call a person from this life is in the Lord’s hands. It is completely against God’s will for Satan to kill anyone. The tools of the devil is sin, sickness and then death. It is up to us to learn these truths to resist the devil from tormenting men with diseases and ultimately killing them. Jesus through His death destroyed or paralysed the devil. Heb 2:14

All these pandemics are illegal programmes of Satan to murder men. If men would use the scriptures to oppose him, We would see more victories over sicknesses and untimely deaths. Jas 4:7 KJV “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

CONFESSION

Satan is an illegal murderer. I have received the life of God and a partaker of the divine nature. I have escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. I resist every illegality of the devil in my life in Jesus name.

THOUGHT:  SATAN HAS POWER TO THE DEGREE, YOU ALLOW HIM.
