THE BELT OF TRUTH 2

KEY SCRIPTURE: Ephesians 6:14 KJV “Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;”

In our previous study we said the truth is the word of God. We said truth is different from facts. Fact is what one can see but the truth is what God’s word says. If what you see does not agree with what the word says, please ignore it. In the spirit realm, the only thing that rules and has permanency is the word of God. (Psalms 119:89 “Forever o God, thy word is settled in heaven.) The event which does not agree with the word of God does not have God’s approval to remain. It can only stay at your permission. Matt 18:18 ISV “I tell all of you with certainty, whatever you prohibit on earth will have been prohibited in heaven, and whatever you permit on earth will have been permitted in heaven”. It is up to you, to determine what should stay in your life. You permit the wrong thing in your life to stay by not doing anything. You stop it by, praying and resisting it from staying.

Our key scripture teaches we must gird our loins with truth. Our loins in this context is our minds. This verse could be said this way, protect your mind with the truth of God’s word. The following scripture teaches us what to do. James 1:21 KJV” Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls”. It says we must put away every sin from our life. The word of God and sin cannot exist together. The presence of one means the absence of the other. To allow sin into your life means you don’t want the word to be there. The next thing to do is to speak in line with the word of God at all the times. Never say anything contrary to the word, that is naughtiness. Declare always that, you can do what the word says. He says further that you must receive the word like a little child or in all humility of mind receive the word. Obeying these three principles will enable you to keep your minds saturated with the word.

Another vital action to get the truth protecting your mind is to meditate on the word. Meditation is the act of getting your mind to reflect over and over again on the word of God. You can meditate by muttering the words to yourself. In this way you repeat the scriptures over and over again for as long as you want. The scriptures would occupy your mind and would be clearer to your understanding. The final step to protecting your mind with the truth is to   yield your members to the influence of the word of God. Be always prepared to do what God is saying through his Word. With the word deeply rooted in your heart you would make the necessary impact

CONFESSION

My life is filled with the word of God. I keep no sin in my heart as I accept the word as a little child and meditate on the word  every day. My life is established in the Lord and I make real advancement in all I do.

Joshua 1:8 KJV” This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.”

THE BELT OF TRUTH

KEY SCRIPTURE: John 8:32 KJV” And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free”.

To truly win over Satan you must be doggedly committed to the truth. There is a difference between truth and a fact. The ‘fact’ is the physically apparent event or thing that one can see, feel, taste, smell or hear. The truth is what God says. The truth on many occasions is not visible or tangible yet it is real. In actual fact it is more real than that which you can see or feel. The truth which is always in unison with God’s word is spiritual. The fact is natural and it is subjected to the power of the spiritual. 2Corinth 4:18 KJV” While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal”. Satan and his demons can influence the natural, physical things, which are also temporal. The truth which is God’s word is not seen, yet it is eternal, meaning it abides forever more. Which of these would you believe, the physical temporal thing or the eternal abiding one? Satan cannot influence the truth.

I wish to share the following true story to buttress my point. A man who was very thirsty, entered a refrigerator at his work place and took a bottle of water and drank almost three quarters of it. Just after drinking it a friend got to the scene and shouted what have you done to yourself? What you took is concentrated sulphuric acid. The brother shouted back at this friend shut up, it is water. He left the place and went on his way. They observed the remaining quarter and indeed it was concentrated sulphuric acid. It was mistakenly placed there. This brother who drank a great portion of it had no problems whatsoever. How could he have survived such a danger? He applied the belt of truth. He declared that it is water. The word says, you would take deadly things and it would not hurt you. It also Says you would have what you say (Mark 11:23b) He stood on that scripture to claim, it is water.

IF he had not known the scripture and stood on it, fear would have gripped and bound him and the corrosive effect of the acid would have ended his life. The word of God is truth (John 17:17) The Bible teaches us how to benefit from it. James 1:21 KJV ” Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls”. To benefit from the truth. Do the following:

1 Put away sin from your life.

2.Put away naughtiness. That is accept the word as it is and don’t argue with it or talk back.

3.Accept the word like a baby takes its father’s word

If you do this, the truth in you would be ready to save you when the need arises.

CONFESSION

The word of God is truth. In meekness I receive it, believe it, speak it forth and I act on it. I am always a winner doing what the word says. None of the lies of the devil can put me down. Thank you, Lord Jesus.

BE STRONG IN THE LORD

KEY SCRIPTURE: Ephesians 6:10 KJV “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might”.

The reason the devil attacks the Christian in spiritual warfare is to deprive the Christian of his position in Christ, rob him of the power and authority he wields as a Christian and finally to succeed in making him miss heaven. The enemy has two main plans to get this done.

1.To cause the Christian to sin against God and to deceive him to live in sin.

2.He brings challenges and difficulties to make the Christian lose faith in God.

The scripture says we must ” Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil”. The Bible uses the term “wiles” of the devil. The meaning of this word is cunning arts, deceit, craft or, trickery. It means every form of strategy he uses to achieve this is deceitful or trickery. If it is to sin, he uses tricks. If it is a sickness it is a trick. If it is a challenge or problem it is a trick.

Satan is a deceiver and takes men captive through deceitful ways. One needs to be strong in the Lord to stop the devil. God’s answer for us is the Armour of God. The very first outfit of the Armour to use is TRUTH. Truth is the strongest antidote to lies. You must know the truth of God’s word and be fully yielded to the truth. Many Christians accept wrong and negative, sinful thoughts as coming from their sinful nature. They yield to them because they assume such thoughts are from their very selves. This is a lie. You don’t have a sinful nature. Rom 6:6 KJV “Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin”. This scripture shows us that the Oldman of sin in us was crucified with Jesus. Those emotions to sin are therefore not from us but the devil influencing our emotions to go the wrong way. With your knowledge of the truth you declare to your flesh to align according to the scriptures. If it is a feeling of sickness in any part of your body, you know it is a lie, because the truth says Himself took our infirmities and bore our diseases and with his stripes we are healed. (Matt 8:17, Isaiah 53:4&5,1st Peter 2:24) With the belt of truth, you declare Jesus has taken these sicknesses and it is a lie.

The belt of truth is knowing the truth, saying the truth to the situation and believing what the truth says. It is an indispensable weapon to stop the devil before he goes far in any form. It deals with the fundamental onslaught of the devil. The Bible advices us in this wise,  Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.(Col 3:16).Let the words of Christ dwell in your hearts richly. Listen to the reading of the Bible as well as inspired preaching often. Make use of this present-day easy asses to information to equip and soak yourself in the truth. Every Christian can be strong. With your smart phone download inspired teachings of tried and tested men of God and keep listening to these messages. The continual entrance of God’s word in your heart would cause your inner being to be flooded with light. Be strong in the Lord.

CONFESSION

I am born of God. The power of God reigns in me. I am free from every power of sin and the devil cannot take any advantage of me.  I walk and live in the truth. Sickness has no power over me. Thank you, Jesus.

BE STRONG IN THE LORD AND IN THE POWER OF HIS MIGHT.

KEY SCRIPTURE: Ephesians 6:10 KJV” Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might”.

Our key scripture calls on us to be strong in the Lord. It is calling on us to be firm in our adherence to Him and His words. It involves a readiness never to be faithless in Him no matter what threatens us or opposes us. We see throughout the bible many who stood very strong for the Lord in the face of life threatening situations.

In Daniel chapter three, King Nebuchadnezzar erected a golden statue and demanded everyone to bow to that image, if not they would be thrown into a fiery furnace. There were some three Hebrew boys, Shadrach Meshach, and Abednego, who decided to keep faith with God and not bow to the image. They were prepared to die than to be unfaithful to God. They were strong in the Lord. You can also stand for the Lord in any adverse cases that may come against you.

The second aspect of our key scripture talks about being strong in the power of His might. The Greek word translated as   power in the above verse is “kratos” This power is different from the other Greek word for power, ‘dunamis'(Acts 1:8). Dunamis is the dynamic miracle working power of the Holy Spirit in the believer. ‘Kratos’ is the total sum of God’ s power combined. It is God’s ruling or domineering power. An analogy of the two is: Dunamis can be compared to a fully armed soldier with every weapon ready to fight, but ‘Kratos’ is the whole of the army units combined. The power of God’s might refers to the totality of the power of God made available to you. This is what we are called to be strong in. It means to fully make this power come to bear in every issue of our lives. This is an insurmountable power. It means no grounds for fear as well as letting down on your diligence to give the far weaker enemy an advantage

Dear child of God you can’t afford to be weak in the presence of this insurmountable power. He has provided the supernatural armour of God so that you can make use of this almighty power available to us. Note our allegiance is unto God and we can’t afford to let anything come in between us. Satan’ s game is to get us to break our allegiance through sin, unbelief or any form of disloyalty to our heavenly father. Never let it happen. There is too much at stake to keep, hold and preserve than allow the enemy to dispossess us of our true heritage, that is God and the power of His might. He can’t take God and this power away from us, but can make you lose your place in God thereby having the full right to take advantage of you.

CONFESSION

I am for God and He is my God, I hold up my place in Him. I reign over Satan and his cohorts by my stability in my father. I do not give the devil any advantage over my life. I remain a perpetual Victor in all my endeavors, living in joy and excitement every day of my life.

Matthew 28:18 KJV ” And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth”.

Acts 1:8 KJV” But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth”.

THE LITTLE FOXES

KEY SCRIPTURE: Song of Solomon 2:15 KJV “Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines: for our vines have tender grapes”.

Why should we be strong and tough? Every Christian has a heritage to make use of. It is only strong ones who can take advantage of their heritage. The truth is that if one is weak, the enemy would rob you of his heritage. Acts 20:32 KJV” And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified”. From the above scripture your inheritance is linked up to you being built up. Weak Christians remain deprived of so much blessings.

Their peace is compromised, their health is suffering, their life is not the least stable. One area that the enemy steps in to weaken them is when he commits ‘little sins’. Telling lies periodically. Some envy here and there, getting drunk, at certain occasions, feeling bitter over some wrong treatment, self righteousness and others. Some fears for certain issues. All these are like the little foxes that spoil the vine. They are like the thorns in the story of the sower. They choke the word and prevent it from bearing fruits.

Proverbs 14:34 KJV ” Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people”. A reproach is anything that sets a man back. Every sin should never be tolerated. Our Lord Jesus died because of sin. It is always the so called little things that do much harm, how? They are overlooked, yet every poison is poison no matter how minute it may seem. The Bible says sin is the sting of death (1st Corinth 15:56). No matter how big or small you may think it is, death is death in any form. Make sure you kill every deed that is contrary to your true nature, lest it will kill you.

The Christian is never a sinner. 1John 3:9 KJV” Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God”. The seed of God which is holy and righteous remains in you, producing acts of righteousness. This scripture seems not to be the experience of many, yet it is true. The only means for you to experience it, is to believe it. We are no more darkness but light. Rom 6:14 KJV “For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace” The reign of life in us gives us a strong urge over every sin. Accept that you have an absolute power over sin. Decide to please the Lord always. A decided mind is not tempted.

CONFESSION

Christ is my life and my old man with its weakness is crucified. I lead a life of victory over sin. I am strong in the spirit. I am bold as a lion. Thank you, Lord Jesus.

AS A MAN THINKS

KEY SCRIPTURE: Proverbs 23:7 KJV” For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.”

To think in any particular way is the choice of a man. No one compels anyone to think in a particular way, yet most people’s lives have been affected negatively by the way they think. It is a fact of life that great and positive thinkers make great impact in life. Unfortunately, they are very few who think in a positive way. Why do most people think poorly? All thinking patterns proceed from the kind of knowledge stored up in the head as well as one ‘s willingness to commit himself or herself to going in the right direction

AS Christians we have the word of God to control our taught pattern

Rom 12:2 KJV “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Some Christians think like the world thinks. The world is under the sway of sin and death (Romans 8:2) The world thinks fear, selfishness, just, failure, death, strive, hatred, sensual pleasure and many more. Anyone who thinks this way is an instrument of the devil and is a total failure. You need to feed your heart and mind with the gospel of our Lord Jesus. The gospel transforms us into the very nature and stature of Jesus Christ. Death disease, failure, hatred, sin, poverty, no longer has power over us. Think as a Victor and that all things are possible with you. No devil can kill you, if you don’t allow it. (Heb 2:14)

The problem of some Christians is that, they have approached the Bible with a religious mind. Religion does not count on the finished work of our Lord Jesus as theirs by faith, but looks for what they can do, to be acceptable before God. In this way the religious minded individual always feels inadequate before the father. (Note: no one in his effort to be justified before God, would ever feel qualified by his or her efforts) The religious minded man, thinks more of defeat. This makes him weak. Jesus is our completeness and we are complete in Him. (2nd Corinth 3:5&6, Col2:10) He that is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him (1st Corinth 6:17) Think that way. See all devils, including Satan under your feet (Ephesians 2:6). Never give yourself to chance, by saying anything can happen to you, no. Rather say I know all things are working together for my good. I am not a product of chance, but a product of divine calculation for my lifting (Romans 8:28). Think this way brother.

CONFESSION.

I am one with my Lord Jesus and have passed from death to life, life reigns in me, disease, poverty and sin have lost their hold over me. I am justified by faith and the blood of the lamp. I am a success through my birth into Christ.

YOUR VALUES DETERMINES YOUR STRENGTH 2

KEY SCRIPTURE: Romans 8:5 KJV” For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit”.

Life is spiritual. When a child of God fails to see this his own actions may bring him a lot of pains and sorrows. Many people are hurting deep down in their hearts. Most of them blame their pain on others. Unfortunately, they fail to see that, hurting is only a negative response to an event. Referring to our relationships with others, hurting is a reaction to another person’s actions that you refuse to let go, although it is very painful to hold on to. Now why do people hold on to matters that hurt them. The flesh has a way of expressing self-pity by holding on to the pain and so justify itself that the other party is wrong, and he or she is right. The other reason for holding on to hurt is to maintain the thought so he or she could revenge what has been done to him or her.

People who live this way are very weak. Such a hurting person would be withdrawn. These things normally happen in relational settings. Some very good friendships have turned very sour because one party decided to keep a hurt or a grudge. There are some people who even decide never to forgive even after, the second party has asked for pardon, and others have come in to plead for forgiveness. There are a number of divorces that went through such a process and one party took an entrenched position never to give in. Most of such people have regretted after so many years, and would have wished they had come together, yet it may be too late. There are some people suffering from chronic diseases with no medical known cure. Their system simply refuses to respond to treatment. Their immune system grows weaker and weaker. Dear brother or sister, there is no justification in holding on to that hurt.  Proverbs 6:28 KJV “Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned?”  It is the flesh’s self justification process that ends up destroying itself.

All these actions are simply sign of allowing your flesh to control you. It will kill you if you don’t stop it. You are not of the flesh but of the Spirit. (Romans 8:9&10). Life is spiritual and so let the spirit lead you. Life in the Spirit, is the realm of power and peace (Romans 8:6) The word of God is the thoughts of the Spirit expressed in vocabulary. They are thoughts of peace, power and strength. Choose the Spirit rather than the flesh and be in charge of your life to God’s glory.

PRAYER

I am given to the Holy Spirit. He is in control of my life. I do not live with pain or hurt against anyone. By the ability of the Spirit in me I release every hurt and walk in love towards all men. I reign in life by the ability of the spirit.

1 Corinth 13:4 & 5 KJV “Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;

YOUR VALUES DETERMINES YOUR STRENGTH

KEY SCRIPTURE: Matthew 6:21 KJV” For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also”.

Why do certain people, go down with the challenges that befall them? For an example, a certain woman had her shop burnt. When she got to the site, she collapsed and had to be rushed to the hospital for medical attention. Some have committed suicide because of a financial debt. Some stop attending church services because no church member visited them when they were sick. Certain people’s reaction to various shortcomings are quite depressive. There are certain pastors who looks cheerful in the presence of others, yet are full of complains, accusing everybody in their closet. People are deeply hurting behind the scenes. Why is it so?

The answer to this question is that many people have very wrong value systems. Their value system is wrong because of a misunderstanding of the word of God or lack of it in their hearts. The woman who collapsed at the site of her burnt shop had put all her life in the shop. Her treasure is her shop and that is where her heart is. The destruction of the shop meant the destruction of her life. The Lord said don’t lay up your treasure on this earth, where moth and rust can attack it, but lay up your treasure in heaven, where no moth or rust can attack it. The man who committed suicide because of a financial loss depended on his money as his only defense and source of pride. The loss meant his pride was gone and cannot stand what people will say about him. Many men although they claim to be Christians do not have God as their source, defense, and the one they are living for.

One must come to terms with his or her purpose for living. What is the place of God in your life? What in this life gives you true satisfaction and significance? What are you living for? Revelations 4:11 says God creating all things for His pleasure. This means man and all that he is and has must be used to please God. When men do this then would they find inner satisfaction and the strength to face any kind of setbacks that may occur. If you commit suicide because you had a financial loss, then you have lost that understanding that God is your source and He is able to perfect all things again. If Jesus is your source and defense, then you would know that your reproaches fall on him. Like Job, you will declare though He slays me yet will I serve Him (Job 13:15). You need to be deeply rooted in the word of God and accept all that the word says. Make Jesus Lord of your life and He would face the bullets shot at you.

PRAYER

Jesus is the Lord of my life, He is the reason for my existence, no challenge, loss or disappointment overwhelms me. My faith is in Him and He helps me overcome every difficulty that arises. Thank you, Jesus.

RIGHT OR WRONG ASSOCIATIONS

KEY SCRIPTURE :1Corinth 15:33 KJV “Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.”

WE continue with our discussions on being strong in the Lord. One aspect of our lives that can seriously affect our strength or weakness is the associations we keep. What. counsel do you receive or what examples are you watching? As the saying goes, you are what you eat. In a similar vein you are what kind of information you hear. Our key scripture says, we should not be deceived bad communication corrupt good manners. Good communications would also improve good manners.

Some Christians are carnal because of the associations they have, Some Christians still maintain non-Christians as their close pals. How can light have fellowship with darkness?  The influence you may be receiving, may not come from a physical human but from a book or the internet. If it is a wrong material, it would negatively affect you. The young boy, girl or person who watches pornography pictures may be doing it alone, yet his good manners would be seriously corrupted. Many people out of lack of discipline or self-control watch all kinds of wrong stuff from the internet. Some have even ended up committing suicide. In some cases, it may not be immoral, yet it takes so much of their time. An example is playing games or watching football.

In 2nd Samuel 13, King David’s first Son Amnon, had a friend called Jonadab who managed to advise him to craftily rape his own sister, Tamar. This error set off a series of troubles in David’s house, to the point that, Absalom rose up against David to overthrow him from the throne. Who or what is influencing you? Some men have broken away with their wives due to the wrong influence of some friends, and It is vice versa for some women too.   They are always with friends at drinking spots. This should not be the lot of a Christian.

YOU have power over who becomes your friend.  Ask yourself, what kind of person am I associated with? Where would such a friendship lead me. A good friend acts like iron that would sharpen another iron. You must also choose right material sources that inform and instruct you well. There are books written by very anointed men of God, go for such books. Refuse to visit the internet sites that show unclean stuff.  If you have certain information on your mobile phone that would not help you, please delete them from your phone. Do not allow anything that would not help your faith to grow strong influence you. Dear child of God, never lose sight of the fact that, we have heaven to go. Do everything to make it to heaven.

PRAYER

Thank you, heavenly father for wisdom to choose rightly every time. I walk with the right people and learn from right sources. My faith is strengthened by of the inspired material I feed on. My life is a success in Jesus name.

TALK YOUR WAY TO STRENGTH

KEY SCRIPTURE: James 3:2 KJV “For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole BODY”

Apostle James shows us in the third chapter of the epistle of James about the great power of the tongue. Our key scripture shows us why many of us fail or fall short in a lot of things. It says if a man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, able also to bridle or control his whole body. What does this word mean? It simply means the man who talks rightly is able to control his body, so he will act rightly.

What do we see most people doing? People express their weakness and failure rather than what God says about them.  There is a popular way most people express their weakness and shortcoming. They say we are men, made of flesh and blood, and so we would always make mistakes. If you speak this way, your words are imperfect, which would also produce imperfect actions. As children of God we have the nature of our Father, holy, kind and just. Our words must reflect the nature of our father. To be perfect in your words, you must say what the Bible says. What has God said about perfection? Mat 5:48 KJV “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect”. How do you talk in in line with this scripture? You also say God commands me to be perfect and so I am perfect.  Your actions may be wrong but don’t change your words. The scripture said, your right words would control your body and make your actions right.

Prov 15:4 KJV “A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.” What is the meaning of this word wholesome.? Wholesome is the word ‘marpe’ in Hebrew. This word means medicine, healing, sound or curative. Right words will cure your bad habits. If you have a bad temper, don’t keep repeating, I have a bad temper. Rather say I have a calm temper and keep saying that about yourself. Speaking negatively is called a breach in the spirit and would make you continue in the negative tendencies.  If you keep speaking in line with what the Bible says about you, you would soon realize your temper is very good. You would have control over your temper. It goes for all other habits as well.

The Bible says we must do all things without murmuring or complaining. Negative words create negative images within you, and would ultimately produce that kind of person that your words have created about yourself. You are a creation of your words. What kind of person is your word creating within you? Weak or strong personality. Say what the word says all the time. Tell yourself you are kind, you are righteous, you are anointed and you can easily forgive. If you keep talking like this you would be a perfect man according to James 3:2

CONFESSION

I have a great life. I am in charge of my actions. I am kind, I am forgiving. I am holy. I treat all men with a great respect. I am prosperous in all that I do.
