Proverbs 24:10 KJV” If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.”

Everyone living on this earth will certainly have a day of adversity. This is what the Bible calls an evil day. (Eph 6:13). Each person must be prepared to stand and overcome. Adversities may come in any form. It could be a health issue, a business challenge, something against your faith or a temptation to sin against God’s word. The key scripture says if you fail in such times, your strength is small.

During the Lord’s sermon on the mount he explained why some people overcome in such times and others fail. “Matthew 7:24 – 27. The Lord said those who hear His word and do it, are like a man who built his house on the rock. The rains and floods came against it, yet it stood still. He also added that the man who hears His word but fails to do it, can also be likened to the man who built his house on the sand. The same rains that attacked the first man, came on his house but it crumpled. He called this person a fool. The word of God has God’s life in it. It is an indestructible life (Heb 4:12). This life possesses the man who does what the word says, the man who does not do it knows the word in his head but does not have the life of the word in him. I listened to the testimony of Zona Hayes, daughter of Rev Novel Hayes. Her confidence in God and His word brought her the victory against the following cases. She had, a bad heart condition, a cancer, lupus, and was given a month to live, was on dialysis for three months for kidney failure, and had a relapse but this time stopped it by faith. She overcame all these life threatening conditions by acting out her faith. She says she overcame by doing what the word says. She has written a book titled ‘overcoming faith’. Be wise and heed the advice of Jesus, believe and do what the word says.

From Jesus own statement, nobody is special, favored or exempted from adversity. His word is always available for everyone to apply. Feed on it, believe it, and do as it says. Doing the word may not be pleasant at times. You may have to stand alone to do what He says, you may have to make some sacrifices to obey. In some cases, you would appear stupid to do what the Lord says. No matter the cost, it will always pay the best dividend and you would be the wise one ultimately. Your strength would not fail.

CONFESSION

God’s word is life and light. I do always what the word says. It may not appear reasonable yet I do it all the same. I am a blessing and have divine strength to overcome every assault of the devil.

KEY SCRIPTURE: John 5:39 KJV” Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.”

The scriptures are God’s ideal way of making Himself known to mankind. God is invisible and infinite, yet man is flesh and finite. These two different states have no point of fellowship. The word is one possible way of making Himself communicable to men. The word is God and God is the Word. All that God wishes for men to know about Him are stated in the word. (Deut 29:29) Our key scripture says we must search the scriptures for they testify of Him. The Christian must make it an obligation to study the scriptures. The study of the scriptures is a visit with God.

We live in days of an abundance of knowledge. It is so easy to get almost any information on any topic at all. Although knowledge abounds in our day, many people do not have the requisite knowledge from the word. Most Christians are so busy flipping through so much information that they concentrate on nothing. You can’t be casual about anything and be a master over it. The scripture said ‘search’. This calls for diligence, focus and discipline. It will take this approach for you to know the scriptures and come to terms with what it may be saying about God or our Lord Jesus Christ (there are a lot of devotionals circulating these days. Choose one or two that you would always study diligently and the rest, you may flip through them).

After one has known what the scriptures may be saying, he or she must believe it and make it a personal truth. You must submit to what the word says. If the word says, our Lord Jesus is always with us to the end of the age, you must also believe and confess that Jesus is with you always. When you act on this truth God will likewise prove Himself faithful. It will not be an information read from the Bible but an experience of the fact that He is always around to help you. A continual practice of the word makes you very strong. Some are weak because they do not the word. (James 1:21–25) No wonder many Christians are living under the mercy of some prophet. The prophetic office is ordained by God to equip the saints to be strong for the work of the ministry. They are not supposed to be objects of defense for anybody, no. The word of God is your defense. To benefit from it, you must not just learn it, you must

 believe and practice it.

CONFESSION

The word of God is God coming to men in human vocabulary. I diligently attend to it, to know what it says, believe it and practice it. I am made strong to conquer and do exploits.

John 6:63 KJV ” It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.”

KEY SCRIPTURE: Daniel 11:32 KJV “And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do EXPLOITS”

Daniel a great man of God who did so much exploits for God wrote our key scripture. Those who do know their God shall be strong and do exploits. Strength in the Lord always produces results or fruits. This time the prophet calls it exploits.

 The very first step to the journey of being strong in the *Lord is to know him.  The difference between David and Saul was that David knew God while Saul knew Samuel, he did not know God and so He failed terribly. God is a Spirit. He can’t be known by human analysis or science. 1Corinth 1:21 KJV” For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. He can only be known by revelation. He has revealed Himself in His Word. We believe what He has revealed about Himself in the Bible.  God has also made provision where we can encounter Him. Jeremiah 29:13 KJV “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart”. This involves a heart that longs to have a supernatural encounter with God. He says He would offer you that encounter, if only it is a sincere longing. He may appear to you in any way He chooses or communicate a scripture to your spirit. In any case you would know that you have had a supernatural encounter

What would such an encounter bring to you?

I would list six stages that, an encounter with God would result in your life

1.ENCOUNTER

2.REVELATION

3CONVICTION

4.FAITH

5.POSITIVE ACTS OF   OBEDINCE

6.RESULTS OR FRUITS

We see that one encounter with the living God ultimately leads to doing exploits or bearing fruits. When Moses encountered God, he had an uncovering of an information he had never knew. This is revelation. The next effect was that he was fully persuaded to take a stand for Jehovah who had revealed Himself to him: This is conviction.  He believed God without fearing the might of Pharaoh, to tell him in the face to let Israel go. This is faith. Moses then acted in every step to honor God This is: obedience. The end of this was the liberation of Israel from bondage. Your knowledge of God would totally transform your outlook about life and yourself as well. Seek the Lord with all your heart and He would make Himself known to you.

PRAYER

Father thank you that you have revealed yourself to us by your word As I behold your word, I encounter you and see who and how you are. I submit myself to every truth in your word to live by it in Jesus name.  Thank you, Lord.

KEY SCRIPTURE: Ephesians 6:10 KJV” Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might”.

We thank the Lord for how far He has brought us. We begin a new series. This time we consider being strong in the Lord. After taking various messages on preaching the word we now take a study into how to be strong in the Lord. This would help some of our brothers who made a decision to surrender their lives to Jesus, and also to keep all of us on our toes as we wait for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Apostle Peter in 2nd Peter 1:5–8 listed certain qualities that every child of God must add to his faith. In 2Peter 1:8 KJV, for if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. To be strong means you are fruitful bringing results or fruits unto the Lord. The Lord said in John 15:8 KJV “Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so, shall ye be my disciples. The Lord is glorified when we bear much fruit., Barrenness is a reproach and a stigma, and so you must refuse to be barren. This is the reason you have to be strong as a child of God. The following are a list of the qualities that we ought to add to our faith so we may be strong to be fruitful. (2nd Peter 1:5–8)

1.Diligence that is, to make every effort and focus

2 Virtue, that is moral excellence or doing things rightly all the time

3 Knowledge. To be filled with the word of God

4.Temperance: Have control over your ego and appetites

5 Patience: the ability to trust God for his promises to be fulfilled or to bear with some of the inconsistencies of people

6.Kindness: A heart to be a blessing to the needy

7.Charity: To place a great price on all persons and to affectionately seek their good.

When we have these qualities in us, we would be strong and would not be barren or unfruitful. There are a lot for us to learn about being strong so we may allow these qualities to be freely and fully exhibited in us. The world is longing for the manifestation of the true sons of God. We must avail ourselves so we can be lights and salt of our world. It is rather distasteful to hear all kinds of scandals about Christians. This ought not to be so. We are the answers to the many questions of the world and must not fail our Father who has made us the light and salt of our world. May the grace of God abound unto us as we go through these series of studies and to be able to live them out in our lives in Jesus name.

PRAYER

Thank you, heavenly father that your word makes me strong. As I daily feed on your word I am equipped to be very effective in your service. I bear much fruit to glorify your name. Thank you, Lord.

Joshua 1:9 KJV” Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest”.

KEY SCRIPTURE: “See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself; touch me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones just as you see that I HAVE”. NWT Luke 24:39

With great love and passion do I share these thoughts with my brothers and sisters of JEHOVAH’S witnesses. It is the teaching of the watchtower and tract society that Jesus did not resurrect with his body but resurrected as a spirit, but he took on a human form when he appeared to the disciples. This is a very serious statement because our salvation according Romans 10:9 is linked to our believe in the fact that Jesus died and resurrected bodily (please understand that we say resurrection, because the body which was dead rises up. Resurrection is never associated with the spirit.)

Our key scripture is a quotation from the New World Translation. I would want the JW’S to have an open approach not an apprehensive one because it comes from their own Bible. In this story, the Lord Jesus after His resurrection appeared to his disciples who were terrified because they assumed, they were seeing a spirit. The Lord then answered as follows. “See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself; touch me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones just as you see that I have.” Please dear brother or sister listen to the statement of the Lord, He said see it is I myself and that a spirit does not have flesh and bones. To assure them that it was a real human body he asked for fish which he ate in their presence.” So, they handed him a piece of broiled fish, and he took it and ate it before their eyes.” Luke 24:42&43. In the light of this, what evidence again do you need to get to know that Jesus resurrected bodily?  To say he was a spirit who took on human form or appearance means He lied by saying He is not a spirit. Jesus is the truth and cannot lie.

Dear brothers and sisters the teaching about Jesus bodily resurrection, is a very important fact that, anyone who seeks to be saved must accept and believe. Let’s read Romans 10:9 from the New World Translation.” For if you publicly declare with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and exercise faith in your heart that God raised him up from the dead, you will be saved.” You cannot be saved without believing that Jesus bodily resurrected from the dead. Now, how on earth would anyone attempt to deny such an open truth? I realize there is a powerful force behind these teachers to lead men astray. The truth has been made clear to you, don’t stay in error. You can say the following prayer from your heart to receive Jesus as your Lord and savior.

Dear heavenly father, forgive me for holding on to error concerning the bodily resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I confess Him as my Lord and believe that He resurrected in His body. Thank you for saving my soul.

Once again, I wish to share a few thoughts with our brothers and sisters of JEHOVAH’S Witnesses. The watch Tower Bible and tract society teaches that one’s salvation is not complete by believing in Jesus alone, but must promote the teaching of the JEHOVAH’S witnesses before he can be saved. They are saying that, to believe in the finished work of our Lord Jesus is not enough to save a man. By this explanation or statement, I realize they have gotten the whole concept of salvation wrong.

What does it mean to be saved? This is what Ephesians 2:8 clearly teaches” For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God”: The verse nine adds that it is not of works lest anyone should boast. The verse 8 says. It is by grace. (Grace is the divine working of the Holy Spirit in the heart and life of a man that produces an outward effect). We receive the Holy Spirit to perform His works by faith. There is nothing more to be done. The Bible even said it is not of works lest any man should boast. The watch tower Bible and tract society teaches one must add works to it to make it complete. I clearly realize the Watch Tower Bible Society does not understand what salvation is. What is salvation. It is a regeneration of the spirit of a man. Tit 3:5 KJV “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost” ;Once again the Bible emphasizes that it is not the works of righteousness but the washing of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit. It is a divine creation of a new personality through the agency of the Holy Spirit and the word of God. No human effort can add anything to it.

By virtue of the teaching of the JW’ S, are they saved?  One is saved if he or she accepts what the Bible teaches. These teachings of the JW’S does not accept what the Bible teaches. Whenever truth is compromised by adding something to it, it ceases to be what it is. My dear brothers of the JEHOVAH’S Witnesses in the light of what the Bible says you are missing it seriously. Where does works come in?  Works come in after one is saved. After you have received the divine nature you live the divine life by the ability of the Holy Spirit. Dear brothers and sisters of JEHOVAH’S Witnesses you need to accept what the Bible teaches, not what the watch tower Bible society teaches. You can’t be saved if you go with the teachings of the watch tower Bible society. Do not be brainwashed to your eternal destruction, accept what the Bible teaches. May the Lord show you kindness as you decide to accept what the Bible says.

KEY SCRIPTURE: Philippians 2:6 ” who, existing in the form of God, didn’t consider equality with God a thing to be GRASPED”

I wish to discuss a few thoughts with our brothers and sisters the JW’S. It is the teaching from the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society that Jesus is a created being and he is not God. I believe there are many JW’S who are prepared to consider the other views as thought in the Bible. The Bible is one book. By this I mean it is not a confused material. I find it very amazing for the JW”s to have their own Bible with their own interpretation of certain scriptures that suit their doctrine.

As a student of the Bible with some knowledge in New Testament Greek I would give the original Greek rendering of John 1:1. (since my key board does not have the Greek alphabets I would translate the Greek rendering in our alphabets. “en arche ein o logos, Kai o logos, ein pros ton theon  kai theos ein o logos” In the literal translation as stated in Greek should be “In beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and. God was the word” Let me translate each word as the Greek put it. En means ‘in’. Arche means beginning. Ein means was. O means ‘the’. Logos means Word. Pros means ‘with’. ton theon is a possessive way or the accusative form of the Greek rendering. ‘Theon’ means God. Kai means ‘and’. theos is the normal rendering for God. Ein is was, ‘o’ is the. ‘Logos’ is word.

In the New World Translation of the Bible which is the Bible of the JWs, it is presented as “in the beginning was the word, and the word was with God and the word was a God”. You would all see that from the above explanation from the Greek there was no indefinite article ‘a’. Where did it come from? It is put there to justify their teaching that Jesus who is the eternal word of God is a lesser God than the father, who has the same rendering in Greek as what was ascribed to the Son.

Dear brothers and sisters in the JEHOVAH’S Witnesses, this error in translation clearly shows somebody is trying to impose his views and understanding, which is not the truth on you. Just consider John 17:5 “And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was”. After Jesus had come to the tail end of His ministry, listen to the prayer He said to the Father. If He is not God and one with the father how could He say, glorify me with thine own self. The glory which I had with you. The glory I had with you simply means the same and one glory which we had together. Glory talks about status authority and HONOUR. He had all these one in common with the father. Dear one if you do not acknowledge Jesus as God you are lost. No matter what you do, you have failed to acknowledge Him for who He is. Consider these things and make a decision to follow Him truly and rightly.

Dear heavenly father, thank you for making it clear to me that Jesus is God. I accept Him as my Lord and Savior. Thank you, Lord Jesus.

Romans 9:5 KJV” Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed forever. Amen”.

KEY SCRIPTURE: Galatians 1:4 KJV “Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father”

Man is the crown of God’s creation. Men were made in the image of God, through whom God could fellowship with His creation. He invested His authority into men and gave man the rule over all creation. There was no disease, lack or anything called fear that tormented men. Why is the case different now?

The Bible said man committed high treason by giving over that authority to the devil. He lost God’s glory and became a child of the devil. John 8:44 KJV “Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it”. Satan became the god and master of the earth (2nd Corinth 4:4. He now controls the systems of the world. The educational system is in his hands. This is the reason the whole world is blindly giving in to comprehensive sexual education. The entertainment system is in his hands. Almost everything about entertainment is gearing towards nudity and sex. Crime and gangsterism is alarming. You cannot tell if the man or woman who passed by you is a suicide bomber or not. Diseases and its degenerative effect on humanity is frightening Leaders of our world who we voted to manage our monies use it as if it is theirs. In the midst of all these are evil demonic activities destroying the lives of many. What a wicked world we find ourselves.

Is there any hope? Our key scripture reveals that, our Lord Jesus died to deliver us from this evil illegal spirit, who has taken control of the world and its system. When a man surrenders his life to Jesus and lives according to His word, he frees himself from the power and influence of the devil. You are in the world but you are not of the world. You escape the corruption that is in the world. (2nd Peter 1:4) You function according to the economy of heaven. The health system of the world does not dictate your health status. Angels become your helpers. This is the reason Jesus gave His life, that he might free us from sin that gave Satan license to rule us. Would you remain under Satan’s rule or you would turn to Jesus? Repent of your ways and surrender to Jesus today.

PRAYER

Dear heavenly father, thank you for giving Jesus to die for my sins. I repent of my evil ways and acknowledge Him as my lord and Savior. Lord fill me with your Holy Spirit so I may be able to lead a victorious life. Amen

Isaiah 53:6 KJV “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned everyone to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all”.

KEY SCRIPTURE: Hebrews 2:3 KJV” How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;”

Our salvation is real. The prophet Isaiah asked” Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed? “Isaiah 53:1God’s arm of deliverance is available to set anyone free from every work and oppression of the devil. Your portion or part is to believe. There is a power of decay and destruction in this world. You don’t have to suffer with the sufferers, in the midst of this great sacrifice Jesus has made for your peace.

Satan is gone on rampage messing the lives of many. Many people do wrong and claim it is the devil. Diseases and all kinds of deprivation has become the lot of many. My question is, should this be the case? There are some who blatantly refuse Christ because of what they call science. Colossians 2:8 KJV “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ” .He says don’t allow anyone to take you captive through philosophy, or vain deceit, Don’t allow yourself to be deceived when the evidences about Jesus is so real. It is the very men who walked with him, who saw him go through death and resurrection, who wrote these things about Him. What proves that they were telling the truth? All these men died martyr deaths, that is they died because of what they saw and claimed to be true. No one in his right mind would choose to be killed for what he knew to be a lie. (Please don’t compare this to the Moslems who are killing themselves. They are not claiming they saw something; they were only told and they believed it) I want all those who claim to reject Jesus on intellectual grounds to consider these things critically.

Dear one, the salvation Jesus brought cut across every portion of the earth. Moslems who have created Iron bars to the gospel are getting saved. Most of them share their testimonies of meeting Jesus just like it happened to Paul in Bible days. In the midst of all these evidences how would you escape God’s eternal punishment if you refuse such a great salvation. Isaiah 5:14 KJV “Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it”. Hell is ready to swallow all those who refuse this great salvation. Hell is a horrible, terrible and painful place to go. Don’t harden your heart turn to Jesus today. You can say the following prayer

Dear heavenly father, I accept this great salvation of our Lord Jesus. I repent of my sins and confess Jesus as the Lord of my life.

The following, is the story of the encounter of Sheikh Ibrahim Oyom’s with the resurrected Christ that led to his conversion to Christ.

As an Islamic teacher he came to hold a program at Dome under the auspices of Dr Sheikh Amin Bonsu of Amen Scientific Herbal Centre. During the course of the program he realized he was feeling very uneasy and could not sleep for a couple of days. Dr Bonsu investigated him for Malaria but found no parasites, yet gave him a malaria treatment all the same. After a week of sleepless night, he felt he must go to Suhum where he lives. He got to Suhum around 12 am and told some of his Moslem friends who were playing cards at that time of the night about his ordeal. They advised him to go see a Mallam He was reluctant, but eventually went. The Mallam said his problem was caused by Dwarfs. The Mallam wrote certain inscriptions in Arabic on a slate, washed it and asked him to swallow the whole washed stuff. He did and was also given some stuff to burn at home so the spirits disturbing him will leave him alone. He went home and did as was instructed.

His uneasiness became worse. As he sat in his room, the room light went out by itself yet there was light all around his room. Instantly he heard someone calling his name from far. Ibrahim, Ibrahim, repent and serve me. He answered that he is a Moslem who prays five times a day and observes all the cardinal teachings of Islam and does not need to repent. . After a short moment of the voice his room was filled with a very bright light. The voice kept speaking to him that he (Ibrahim) has been preaching that the blood of Jesus cannot save, but said it is He Jesus calling him and it was his blood that saves all men. Within that instant there was a screen on the wall showing all that he did against Jesus in the past. The Lord asked him to go to a pastor of the believing ones. Who would pray for him and tell him what to do? The lord led him to the house of the Christ Apostolic Church pastor. The pastor although hesitant at the first instant listened to his story and then prayed for him. After the prayer he felt a great relief and could sleep as a baby.

HE woke up after sometime, finding that he was sleeping at the pastor’s place, asked himself what is he doing at a pastor’s house. He left without notifying the pastor and went to a nearby town to go to the mosque to pray. During the prayer the uneasiness occurred, this time it was hyper active. He was rushed to a hospital and was given a heavy dose of anti-depressant but to no avail. The high dose drug could not put him to sleep. This was to the amazement of the doctor. He finally accepted to go back to the pastor who accepted him and prayed for him again. It was after this incident he decided to stay in Christ and went to a bible school under the auspices of the Christ Apostolic Church Ghana. He is currently the leader of the Converted Muslims Ministry. He takes care of Muslims who are converted but are rejected by families.
