KEY SCRIPTURE: Luke 5:5 ” And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net”.
Proverbs 3:5,6 advices us to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding”, from the story of Luke 5 Peter and his team who were professional fishermen had toiled throughout the night yet, were without any catch. They were experienced fishermen yet their experiences and skills could not help them.
Man is normally prone to living and doing things according to his understanding. Proverbs 3:6 says we must acknowledge the Lord in all our ways. We must seek His way in everything.
In our key scripture, the Lord asked Peter to launch out into the deep and let down the net for a draught. Peter did not ask the Lord, how experienced are you? He did not say I know so much about this sea and nothing has worked out. Peter admitted that they had toiled the whole night and had caught nothing, and that at the word of the master he will let them the net. The result was phenomenal. They caught so much fishes that their net even got broken. Creation responds to God’s word.
Acting on the word is allowing God to act through you. . The scripture says all things are possible to them that believe. (Mark 9:23)Let the word rule you.
Decide to act on what the word of God tells you. The instructions of the word are not normally reasonable if one wants to analyse them.
The moment you believe the word enough to act on it, you have welcome the Almighty God to work through you. Remember there are two groups of persons to whom all things are possible with.
- With God nothing shall be impossible Luke 1:37
- To the man who believes, all things are possible.(Mark 9:23)
What are we seeing here? The man who believes the word operates by the authority and power of God. God’s word is His authority and power. Psalm 138:2
The word would always prevail over every condition if allowed to work. I always put God’s word into action in every situation of my life. The mighty hand of God is seen in my life always..
Psalms 138:2. I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.
Acts 19:20 “So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed”.
