KEY SCRIPTURE: John 19:34-35 But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water. And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe.
Was our Lord Jesus crucified? Today is another Easter celebration and it being a good Friday, It is worth talking about the crucifixion of our Lord Jesus.
I’ve asked this question because in the Quran, Surah 4:157 it reads “And because of their saying, we slew the Messiah Jesus son of Mary, Allah’s Messenger. They slew him not nor crucified, but it appeared so unto them, and lo. Those who disagree concerning it are in doubt thereof, they have no knowledge thereof save pursuit of a conjecture, they slew him not for certain”. This is the emphatic statement of the Quran on this subject.
The believe of all Christians and the main teaching of the bible is that Jesus the Christ was crucified on the cross of Calvary, and in believing this and his resurrection after the third day one is saved. I want everyone to read these things with an open mind. These are two contradictory statements. The one stating the truth makes the whole foundation of the other false and everyone in that faith must seriously consider his stands and make a new decision.
If Jesus was not crucified Christianity has no foundation and is false. There are countless prophecies in the old testament about his crucifixion (Isaiah 53, Psalm 22). The writer of our key scripture stood by the cross whiles Jesus hanged on the cross. He saw and heard all those words. Our key scripture reveals the soldier pierced his side into the heart, giving out water and blood. This meant he had died and the heart also had ruptured. John also recorded the following. (John 19:26-27). “When Jesus therefore saw his mother and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, woman behold thy son. Then said he to the disciples. Behold thy mother….”.
When the Lord Jesus appeared to Thomas, he said the following to him. “Then saith he to Thomas, reach hither thy finger and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side and be not faithless but believing”. Jesus came to Thomas he showed him that he died and he had resurrected. How could it have been made to appear he was crucified? Did Jesus conspired with anyone to deceive? These men who saw his crucifixion and resurrection were all prepared to die for what they believed and knew was the truth. They all except John died a martyr death. In Revelation 1:18 the Lord appeared to John on the island of Patmos and said “I am he that lives, and was dead, and behold I am alive for evermore. Amen, and have the keys of hell and of death.”
Dear reader the bible is filled with abundant evidences of Jesus death. He died for you and resurrected for your justification. The evidence is clear. Many have encountered Him including Moslems. Would you accept him today and be saved?
Lord Jesus you died to take away my sins. Forgive me and save my soul. Come and live in my life. Thank you for saving my soul.
1 Corinthians 15:3-4 ” For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”
Matthew 27:35 “And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, they parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.”
