USING THE SWORD OF THE SPIRIT 2

KEY SCRIPTURE: Revelation 1:16 KJV “And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp two-edged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength”.

The word of God from our mouth is a two-edged sword that destroys every opposition at the very first declaration. No devil under any condition can resist the authority and power of the word of God. Our father has called us into a life of revealing His glory. This is possible as we defeat the devil in various life encounters through the word. Using the sword of the Spirit is a sure way of manifesting God’s glory. In our previous study we looked at how David used God’s word to defeat Goliath. Please understand that it is always the sword of the Spirit that fights and defeat the devil not your feeling or your reasoning. It will always overcome any difficulty that you may face.

We would consider how the master Jesus applied the sword of the Spirit to raise Jairus daughter, who was dead. Mark 5:36–41. After Jesus had agreed to go with Jairus to heal his sick daughter some people came to him and told him that the daughter had died and should not disturb the master. Jesus used the word and said to him, be not afraid only believe (verse 36). When he got to the house of Jairus there were mourners who were deeply weeping. The Lord quickly used the word at this instant. Verse 39b: …… Why make ye this ado and weep? the young girl is not dead but is asleep. The Bible said they laughed him to scorn. Note the word of God applied to life issues may seem to be nonsense, yet do not let the words and actions of men stop you.

The Lord went on and put the people out of the room, leaving Jairus, his wife, as well as a few of His disciples who were with Him. The final act was to ask the dead child to rise up, and she rose up when the Lord asked her to rise up. You must speak the word expressing your confidence in God. Do not allow the anticipated reaction of people to silence you. God would want to prove His power against unbelief of men. It is always in God’s interest to find a people who are faithless, yet through your readiness to stand for God and His word, you boldly say what God would do, so that in the end these people would come to faith in Him. Feed your soul and spirit with the word so you would always have something to use.

CONFESSION

I keep the word in my heart and have absolute confidence in the word. I speak the word in every condition, no matter how severe it may be, for God’s word is superior to every situation
