KEY SCRIPTURE: Matthew 9:3 KJV “And, behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth.”

(Read Mark 2:1-12)

In the story of our passage above the Lord told the sick man that his sins were forgiven. This meant his condition could have been precipitated by some wrong actions of his.  His sin must first be dealt with, so his healing would follow on. The Pharisees were not delighted with that. They questioned in their hearts. They asked what right does the Lord Jesus have to forgive the sins of men. The Lord did not allow that to stop him. Please note that, our Lord Jesus never responded positively to any negative demand or anticipation of the Pharisees. They had not sent him. They would not judge Him. They would also not reward Him at the end of His race. There are too many people who are sadly afraid of opposing voices or cared too much about what those people may be saying.

Just consider the position of these Pharisees. They were very ignorant of who Jesus was. They were ignorant of his authority. Mat 21:23 KJV” And when he was come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came unto him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority?” Just consider: these people had no idea about who he was and the authority by which He did what He was doing. How ridiculous it would be for him to stop what He was doing because of their negativity. There are so many Christians who are so scared to talk to the others about Christ. Please note that you would always have people of different opinion. Some may physically attack you. 2Ti 3:12 KJV “Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.”

HOW did the Lord Jesus overcome these negative attitudes? He knew these people did not know who he was. They also did not send him, and so had no responsibility or allegiance to them in any way. John 4:34 KJV “Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.” He said what satisfies him is to do the will of Him that SENT Him and to finish it. Many Christians don’t have any urgency of being sent. God has sent you, so obey Him and not those who will oppose you. Dear one Jesus died for you so you would no longer live for yourself but for him. So long as you are acting to please the master, do not allow negative attitudes, remarks and even attacks to hold you back. The real enemy is not the people who make those remarks. It is orchestrated by invisible intelligent beings whispering words into the minds of those who accuse you.  (Eph 6:12)
