DO NOT MERCHANDISE IN GOD’S HOUSE

KEY SCRIPTURE: Matthew 21:13 (KJV).”And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.”

After the Lord ‘s triumphant entry into Jerusalem He went into the temple.  The Jews lived under the Mosaic LAW, so they had to offer animal sacrifices for the forgiveness of their sins. Since the sacrifices were done in the temple, they had the animals in the temple ready to be sold and used for the sacrifices. This is what the Lord had to drive out of the temple and said, my house should be a house of prayer, but you have turned it into a den of thieves. The house of God is the physical representation of the presence of God among men. The house of God is not a business centre. It is a place where men meet to express their allegiance, love and faith in God. Prayer is the means by which this is done.

God created all things, yet man is the only creature of His that He fellowships with. It gives Him pleasure and man is blessed when He fellowships with God. It is a great deception when any man seeks to use the house of God for enriching himself. Anyone who does that has been driven out by the Lord in the Spirit, although he is physically seen preaching and prophesying. The Lord says, in the last day of JUDGEMENT, He would say, He never knew such people, ye workers of iniquity. Some sell all kinds of stuff, and they know they are only making money from the people. Stop it from today. Remember, King Saul was rejected yet he sat on the throne for thirty-eight years. The reason the Lord drove those merchants from his house, is because, HIS house must be set apart for Him alone.

YOUR body is also the temple of God. It must be kept Holy. Holiness means to be set apart for God. Those business people in the house of God were seriously profaning the holy temple of God. The Lord instinctively drove them out. “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?”— 1 Corinthians 6:19 (KJV)

What to do:

1. Keep your body holy.

2. Maintain a life of Prayer and study the Bible always

3.Do not make money from the people of God

4.Talk to others about the saving power of the Lord

5 Use your time to bless humanity

CONFESSION

I am a child of God. I am saved by the blood of the Lamb Jesus. My body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. My life honours the father as I live for Him alone.
