Satan is a master of stealing messages from the heart of most people. No thief can steal that which is well established in the heart. Encourage that convert to listen to good messages over a number of times. Show him the importance of listening to one thing repeatedly over a long time. James 1:25 reminds us to continue looking into the perfect law of liberty, so that you would not forget.
