TEACHING THE NEW CONVERT 6

KEY SCRIPTURE: Matthew 28:19 KJV Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

In our last study we looked at a form of taking in the word of God by meditation. This is one way that a new convert who is disciplined can take in God’s word. May I remind us that anyone who is given to God’s word will definitely grow in grace by the word as well as experience a life of participating in the blessings of God. Apostle Paul exhorted the brethren in Ephesus (Act 20:32) to be committed to God and the word of His grace. This will first build them up, and secondly give them an inheritance among the saints. Dear one you must be committed to God’s word and help the new believer also establish himself in God’s word. You must also introduce the new brother or sister in Christ to this form of meditation, which is not silent like the type we considered in our previous study. In this kind you speak the word to yourself either in a quiet way, or aloud. The idea is to keep repeating those words of scripture over and over again, till they are well established in your Spirit, and doing that word becomes automatic. Once again you have to encourage him to be very disciplined to practice these things.

We see this aspect of meditation in the old testament. The Lord asked Joshua to employ this kind of meditation in Joshua 1:8. He said “this book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it, day and night….” The word translated meditate is the Hebrew word “hagah” and has the following meanings, muse, mutter, roar, speak, utter etc. We realise that in this kind one says the words of scripture repeatedly to himself over and over again. The Lord says it must not leave your mouth.

Teach the convert that this kind of meditation has a great benefit and impact in the life of the one who practices it. Whatever words of scripture he says and believe them in his heart, become established, or they come to pass in his life. This act functions with the principle of faith that creates or makes things happen in the life of those who do it. Just look at 2Corinth 4:13 KJV “We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak: Romans 10:10 also adds that, “with the heart one believes unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” We realise from these two verses of scripture that the man who believes in his heart what he is saying with his mouth is creating that very thing or event in his life. Remember that in Rom 4:17 the word also says God calls those things which be not as thou they were. It shows us how our father brings things to pass. He simply believes what he says and they manifest in reality.

Whosoever believes in the scriptures he repeats with his mouth according to all the references above is creating those particular condition or thing in his life. It takes real disciple to do these things, yet anyone who does it will see a real lifting of his life to a very high plain. Disease would leave your body as you speak forth or meditate on scriptures that talk about healing. Your life will be set on paths of righteousness as you believe and say the scriptures that relate to righteousness.

THOUGHT:  ALWAYS BELIEVE THE SCRIPTURES YOU SAY, AND THEY WOULD BE REAL TO YOU.
