KEY SCRIPTURE: John 7:52 KJV “They answered and said unto him, Art thou also of Galilee? Search, and look: for out of Galilee ariseth no prophet.”
After Pharisee Nicodemus had expressed his concern for the Jewish leaders to be fair to Jesus, they just concluded that He had gotten convinced by Jesus. Their main error was their conclusion that Jesus was a descendant from Galilee and that there was no prophecy that there would be a prophet from Galilee. Israel at the time of Jesus was divided into three main Parts. The northern part, which is Galilee, the middle portion, which is Samaria, and the southern portion, known as Judaea. Biblical history teaches that our Lord Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, in the Southern part of Israel which was ruled by a more tyrannical King Herod Archelaus, whiles Galilee was under the rule of King Herod Antipas who was more level headed. This made Joseph the ” father” of Jesus to relocate to Galilee when they returned from Egypt. These Pharisees without searching concluded Jesus came from Galilee.
They were also in error because, they were so envious of Jesus and wanted Him dead, so much that, they would not care to make any further checks on Him. Lack of diligence to find the truth is one main grounds people get into error.
Some err because of an unteachable attitude. Such people lack meekness. Psalms 25:9 KJV” The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.” They come to God’s word with their minds already made up on some ideas or thought pattern. They can’t see any other line of thought. It becomes worse when they find themselves in a large group that thinks in a that wrong way.
What can one do to stay from error?
1. Settle it once and forever that, the bible is God’s word. It is very authentic
2. Always come to the bible like a little child who knows nothing, with a very great desire to learn.
3. Read the scriptures broadly and use the search function to get all that is said about a particular word and how it is used.
With an opened mind you would discover the truths as taught by God in His word
THOUGHT: MEEKNESS, PLUS DILIGENCE TO SEARCH THE WORD WILL SAVE YOU FROM ERROR
