WHOSE SERVANT, ARE YOU?

KEY SCRIPTURE: John 8:34 KJV “Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.”

In our previous study, we saw the Jews, claiming they were not under bondage, since they were seeds of Abraham. The Lord responded with a clear authoritative statement. His answer was”, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.” This answer meant

1.  One’s status before God, has nothing to do with his or her biological lineage, association, position, or what people think of you.

2. Your state before God depends on your own actions.

Rom 6:16 KJV” Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death or of obedience unto righteousness?” The preceding scripture states that a man sins or works righteousness by submitting himself to obey that power or influence. Since you have submitted yourself to that influence, you become a servant to that power.

The Lord, by this statement, was telling the Jewish people not to deceive themselves. Judging from their actions, they were servants of sin.

Whose servant, are you? Your title does not exempt you from God’s wrath, your positioning before men cannot help you either. Matthew 7:21 KJV “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.”

Why do some Christians still live as servants to sin? There are a few reasons that we may consider, why this is so

1 Such people have not made a sincere decision to make Jesus Lord of their lives.

The consequences of this are that they are still in their sins. Such are those that the Lord will say, ye workers of iniquity, I never knew you.

2. There is a second group who are doubtful about the reality of the bible and God.

They serve God with an uncertain mind. Such people are hot today and down in sin tomorrow.

3. There are those who are certain about the reality of the bible, yet do not have a clear understanding about their victory over sin.

If you find yourself in such a condition then please get to my website and read all the related topics on victory over sin, and you would be free to live in honour unto God.

Dearly beloved, it is rather dangerous to live as a slave to sin. It gives you no chance in the presence of the Lord.  Repent today and decide to serve the Lord in sincerity.

CONFESSION

I have been set free from the power of sin. I fully understand my power over sin, and so I live to please the Lord. I am no longer under the law, but grace and have become the very righteousness of God, in Christ Jesus. Glory be to the Lord.

THOUGHT: ACKNOWLEDGE YOUR RIGHTEOUS NATURE IN CHRIST, AND STAY RIGHTEOUS
