KEY SCRIPTURE: John 9:5 KJV “As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”
Our Lord Jesus declared that “as long as He is in the world, He is the light of the world”. He was simply saying I am the answer to the world’s questions. He was not being proud at all. He was simply saying what is true about Him. Many Christians do not know who they are, and so their lives have become very ordinary. Psalm 82, has some amazing things to say about these things. Psalms 82:5 KJV “They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course.” The Psalmist went on to say that these people being children of the most high are gods, yet they would die like men. This is so because they do not acknowledge who they are.
The word of God has so much to say about who we are, and we must acknowledge it, just as the Lord Jesus did. Our present glorious state comes as a result of our place in Christ. Our Lord Jesus became our substitute (Isaiah 53:1-6, 2 Corinth 5;17-21) for our sins, our shame, our punishment, and our death, so we became: His holiness, glory, exemption from destruction, life and resurrection. He tells us in Matt 5:14, that we are the light of the world. We are a city set on a hill, that cannot be hidden. We must boldly say I am the light of the world. Please note, He did not say light for your world, but ‘the’ world. You are the solution to the world. Jesus said I am the light of the world. Say it , I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. Never bow to any deplorable condition, for it cannot change what God has made you.
Please note that your faith is made more effective as you acknowledge all the amazing wonderful things in you. Philemon 1:6 KJV” That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.”
The Lord had some problems with His Jewish audience for affirming what He was. Men would come at you when you make certain declarations. Some would say you are proud. For example, the scriptures said Himself took my infirmities and bore my diseases. If He took them then I can’t carry them any longer. I boldly say I can’t be sick. Others would definitely say, who are you to say such things? Well, I am a son of God. According to Psalm 82:6, I am a god and by the revelation of the scriptures, I am a partaker of the divine nature and have escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. According to Hebrews 6:5, we taste of the good word of God and so, we also taste of the powers of the world to come. This is the incorruptible life, living in the resurrection life. Dear child of God, believe and boldly declare what the word says you are. Indeed, that is what you are in Jesus’ name.
