KEY SCRIPTURE: Matthew 7:7 “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you”
This is our month of answered prayers and I would like to share a few thoughts on prayer with you.
Many Christians pray and pray but do not have tangible answers to their requests. Learning to pray effectively is very important for every Christian. No Christian would be successful if he or she cannot pray effectively.
We would be considering various steps to answered prayer.
Step One: Be specific about what you want and stand on the word of God. This means you must decide what you want and find the scriptures that support or assures you on those requests.
Our Lord Jesus always asked people what they would want Him to do for them, even if their condition was evident to all. In John 5:6, although the Lord knew he was impotent and need healing He asked “Wilt thou be made whole”. He always wanted to hear you say exactly what you wanted.
Some people pray and when they are asked what you are praying about, they say, I don’t know. Beloved brother or sister, if you want an answer from the Lord, then you better pray specifically.
Step two: You must pray according to the word of God. Faith begins when the will of God is known. The word of God is the will of God. If the scripture does not promise you what you are asking for then stop praying.
John 15:7 says, ” If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.”
The Bible says if the word abides in you, then you would ask what you want and receive; why? When the word is abiding in you, you would ask in faith. The word of God is God presenting Himself to us in written form.
This is the reason the Lord spoke to Joshua in Joshua 1:8 as follows. You have good success as you meditate on the word. The word in your heart, spoken by the tongue is like God Himself making His declarations
Doubt is the main cause of unanswered prayers. The doubter cannot possess the answer. He is unstable. (James 1:6, 7)
Build the word into your heart through meditation.
PRAYER
My father, thank you for your ears that is open to my prayers. Thank you that as I pray in faith you always answer and receive my request. Thank you for all your goodness unto me. Amen
