KEY SCRIPTURE: Phil 2:5 KJV “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

The Lord Jesus had a very humble mind according to the scriptures. He is God, yet He put down His glory as God. John 17:5 tells us how He asked the Father to honour Him with the glory He had with Him from the beginning. What is humility? Humility is not a calm disposition of an individual. There are certain people who are introverts, who hardly raise their voice to express themselves. This does not make them humble. humility is defined as a ready mind to do what God says. God is the supreme power and authority. A person truly submitted to God has a free spirit and can do and achieve any positive results in this life. A man who is submitted to other things, but does not truly fear God in his heart has not found reality, and is a danger to himself and others.

King Saul was one who had great fear and submission to every other thing, yet had no fear for God. In first Samuel 15, the Lord asked King Saul to go wipe out the Amalekites, with all that they had. Saul overpowered them, but left their King, and the fat rams. When prophet Samuel enquired about what he’s done concerning God’s command, He said the following.1Sam 15:15 KJV “And Saul said, They have brought them from the Amalekites: for the people spared the best of the sheep and of the oxen, to sacrifice unto the LORD thy God; and the rest we have utterly destroyed.”

Saul never admitted to his error before God. He rather blamed others. Saul was a very proud king, who gave no fear for God, but feared men, his ego. King Saul lost his throne because he refused to be humble to God.

Dear one, it does not matter how men see and regard you. They may say, you are very humble, yet that does not mean anything. It is the place God holds in your heart that determines whether you are truly humble or not. Secondly   when a man is submissive to God, he would surely honour men, and show respect for all. He does not project his interest, but God’s. In this light he serves God’s intentions in the life of others. He seeks to please God in relating to others

This is humility.

Humility increases spiritual capacity, because God increases more grace to the humble James 4:6

Humility is wisdom because the humble follows God’s counsel.

Humility brings favour because God brings the humble into favour with God and men. Luke 2:52.

CONFESSION

Thank you, heavenly father for your Spirit that teaches me all things. I remain submissive and exalt you above all things. My fear of the Lord makes me fear nothing.
