KEY SCRIPTURE: Matt 11:29 KJV “Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.”

The Lord revealed in our key scripture that, he’s been able to successfully live under various burdens because of His humility.

The Lord exhibited so much strength in the face of the weight of challenges that He bore. He bore the sins of the whole world. He bore the sicknesses and diseases of all men. In His days He endured such contradiction of sinners, yet He never complained Heb 12:3.

He said He did all these because He was meek and lowly in heart. He added that, that was the means of having rest for His soul. From our previous study we learnt that being humble is having a ready mind to do what the Lord says. This is what makes for success and to overcome in all you do.

What makes a humble man so strong to live under all kinds of conditions yet could say as Jesus, my yoke is easy and my burden is light? The humble man basically empties himself of all self, to fill himself with the Spirit of God. The absence of self makes him like the hollow part of a ship. The hollow portion enables the ship to operate with the law of FLOATATION, or the principle of buoyancy. The hollow part of the ship has caused the water to exert an upthrust or an upward force. It is the force from the water that makes the ship carry so much weight far heavier than itself. In effect it is the water that bears the weight, not the ship. The Lord was right, in saying His yoke was easy and His burden was light. Anyone who accepts to be lowly like Jesus receives rest for His soul. Your yoke will be easy and your burden will be light.

Apostle Paul shows in Philippians 2:1-4 that it is having that humble mind of Christ that enables the people of God to live in one accord. It drives away pride and any form of strive so the children, of God can achieve so much for God.

In conclusion, may we acknowledge that, the Spirit of God in us is meek and lowly like our master Jesus. One of the manifestations of the fruit of love is meekness. It is therefore intrinsic in our nature. We have to know and believe we are by nature humble and so apply ourselves to it. We are able to walk in our nature of the fruit of the Spirit by meditating on the fact that, that is who we are. As you acknowledge that fact, you would find yourself naturally living out that life of meekness and lowliness of mind. Stay blessed.

CONFESSION

Thank you, Lord Jesus, for your great example and the gift of the Holy Spirit who has imparted to my spirit His love, that also manifests as meekness or humility. I am meek and lowly revealing the very nature of Jesus in all my relationships. Nothing is too difficult to face and overcome for it is His life that bears and carries everything. I indeed have rest for my soul. Hallelujah.
