KEY SCRIPTURE:1Co 2:11 KJV” For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.”
We learned from our earlier studies about the Spirit of man, that his spirit is the real man since God created man in His image and likeness. God is a spirit. If man is in the image of God? Then man is a spirit. We there say that man is a spirit, who possesses a soul, and lives within a body. The Spirit of man is the God-conscious part of Him. He relates with God via his spirit, not his soul or body.
What are therefore the faculties of the Spirit? Like the soul, the spirit of man has three main faculties. These are as follows:
1. CONSCIENCE
2. INTUITION
3. COMMUNION
The conscience is man’s ability to judge between what is right from wrong. This part has nothing to do with his intellect or mental knowledge. Rom 2:15 KJV” Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)” This verse referred to those who had no law to tell them what was right or wrong, yet their conscience which was a faculty of their spirit approves of their right ways and disapproves of their wrong actions. Every man has a conscience. This faculty of the spirit can be silenced, or put to seared.1Ti 4:2 KJV” Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;” When one’s conscience is consistently overruled to choose the wrong way, the conscience will be seared or killed.
The next faculty of the Spirit, to consider is intuition. This is the aspect of the Spirit that receives information from the spirit of God. In Mark 2:8, the bible said, ‘Jesus perceived in His spirit’. He knew what and how they reasoned through communication from the spirit of God. Let’s consider the following verse: Act 14:9 KJV “The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed,” How did Paul know that the impotent man, had faith to be healed. He got to know through the intuitive property of his spirit. This aspect of a child of God could be developed to the point when one could know what another is thinking, and even the future events of another person. These tendencies go beyond gifts of the Spirit through the edification of their spirit man.
Last but not the least is communion. Here man fellowships with God. John 4:24 KJV” God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” Apostle Paul says He serves the Father through his spirit. Rom 1:9.
Man was originally made not to live by his soul or his body, but fundamentally by his spirit. The spirit of man is the place of authority and power. Before the fall of man, man related to God and creation by his spirit. His faculty of intuition have his perfect faith in God, which also made him fearless before all things. The place of real freedom is to let his spirit lead. We must therefore focus on living in and by the spirit. God’s word is His means of getting this done.
CONFESSION
I am a spirit having a soul and I live within my body. I renew my mind by the word of God, fellowship with the Holy Spirit, and obedience to the word of God.
THOUGHT: MAKE YOUR BODY AND SOUL SUBMISSIVE TO YOUR SPIRIT’S LEADERSHIP.
